Solve this riddle: Who am I?
I am one of the Companions of the Prophet, peace be upon him.
I left my home among the Banu Aslam and migrated to Medina.
I witnessed the Battle of Badr and all the campaigns alongside the Prophet, peace be upon him.
I was among the poor, the people of the Suffah.
I remained in the company of the Prophet, peace be upon him.
I loved him dearly and was deeply committed to serving him.
So much so that I would stay with him day and night.
In his presence, during his travels, and in all his military expeditions.
I would spend the night at the door of his chamber.
So that perhaps the Prophet, peace be upon him, might need something.
And find me there to serve him.
One night,
I spent the night at the door of the chamber of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him.
When he rose in the night,
I brought him his water for ablution and whatever he needed.
He wished to reward me.
So he said to me,
"Ask of me what you wish."
I said,
"O Messenger of Allah,
I ask for your companionship in Paradise."
He, peace be upon him, said,
"Is there anything else?"
I said,
"That is all, O Messenger of Allah."
He said,
"Then help me against your own self by prostrating often."
The Prophet, peace be upon him, said to me one day,
"Will you not marry?"
I replied,
"Yes, O Messenger of Allah,
but I have nothing with which to marry."
He said to me,
"Go to such-and-such person from the Ansar,
and tell him to marry his daughter to you."
I went to him and said,
"The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him,
commands you to marry your daughter to me."
He said,
"Welcome to the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him!
The messenger of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him,
shall not leave without his request being fulfilled."
So he married me to her.
He did not ask me for proof of my statement,
nor for any dowry.
I went to the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, and informed him.
I said,
"O Messenger of Allah,
I went to noble people,
they married me without asking for proof,
and I have nothing to give them as a dowry."
The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, spoke to the Companions,
and they collected for me the weight of two date stones in gold.
And they prepared food for us.
The Ansari man said,
"This is plenty and good."
The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, gave me a piece of land,
and he gave Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, a piece of land.
We disagreed over the boundaries of the land.
Abu Bakr said a word to me that I disliked.
Then he regretted it.
He said to me,
"Say back to me the same word so that it may be a just retribution."
I said, "I will not do so."
Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, went to the Prophet, peace be upon him,
and I went after him.
The Prophet, peace be upon him, said to me,
"What is between you and the Siddiq?"
I said, "O Messenger of Allah,
such and such happened."
He said a word to me that I disliked.
Then he said,
"Say to me what I said to you so that it may be a just retribution."
But I refused.
The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said,
"Indeed,
do not say it back to him.
Instead, say:
'May Allah forgive you, O Abu Bakr.'
'May Allah forgive you, O Abu Bakr.'"
Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, turned away weeping.
