Causes of affliction and its purposes
After the harm began, let it be known that it is the calamity and affliction that befalls women
Except because of him
And what his hand gained from doing what is contrary to the first
Or falling into sin and disobedience
Or injustice and disbelief
And so on
God Almighty said
And whatever calamity befalls you, it is because of what your hands have earned, and He pardons many.
And the Almighty said
Or, when a calamity befalls you, you have befallen something like it, you say, “I am this”
Say, “It is from yourselves.”
There are many verses in this sense
And yet
Some people who look at the texts that explain the purpose of affliction may be confused
It gets confusing
Is it a punishment and torment for the afflicted?
Or expiation for sins and transgressions?
Or a raise in grades?
Or a test of discrimination and scrutiny?
And to clarify
The purpose of the trial may be any of the above
Or a mixture of more than one purpose
This varies according to the afflicted person himself
It is a punishment and torment for the infidel
If he leaves, perhaps he will return from his disbelief and wrongdoing
God Almighty said
And We will certainly make them taste the lesser torment, apart from the greater torment, that perhaps they will return.
The lowest torment is the torment of this world
The greatest torment is the torment of the afterlife
It is for disobedient believers an expiation for sins and transgressions
Also, perhaps they will return
As the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said
The affliction continues to befall the believer, both male and female, in himself, his children, and his wealth
Until he meets God with no sin on him
Narrated by Al-Tirmidhi
He, may God bless him and grant him peace, said
No accusative or accusative affliction afflicts a Muslim
No worry or sadness
Neither ear nor grief
Even a thorn pricks it
Unless God expiates some of their sins
Narrated by Al-Bukhari
It is for the prophets and the righteous that it raises ranks
He, may God bless him and grant him peace, said
The most afflicted people are the prophets
Then the optimal, then the optimal
A man gets wet according to his religion
A state based on his religion
If his religion is solid
His affliction intensified
Even if there is tenderness in his religion
He will be tested according to his religion
Narrated by Al-Tirmidhi and Ahmed
In general, it is for discrimination and scrutiny
As God Almighty said
People thought they would leave
To say we are safe
And they are not tempted
And those before them were tempted
Let God know those who are truthful
And let them know the liars
And the Almighty said
God would not leave the believers
As you are
To distinguish the bad from the good
