A new challenge: Who am I?
I am one of the young Companions from the Ansar.
I embraced Islam at the hands of Mus'ab ibn 'Umayr, may Allah be pleased with him.
I witnessed the battles of Badr, Uhud, and all other campaigns alongside the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.
I was among the few who remained steadfast with him on the day of Hunayn.
One day, I passed by the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him.
With him was Jibril, peace be upon him.
I greeted them both and continued on my way.
Then Jibril departed.
When I returned,
The Prophet, peace be upon him, said to me:
"Did you see who was with me?"
I said, "Yes."
He said, "That was Jibril."
"And he has returned your greeting."
I had homes near the dwellings of the Prophet, peace be upon him.
Whenever the Prophet, peace be upon him, would marry,
I would vacate one of my homes for him.
Until the Prophet, peace be upon him, said to me:
"I have become shy before you because of how often you move out of your homes for us."
My eyesight failed me at the end of my life.
So, I stretched a cord from my prayer mat to the door of my house.
I kept a basket near me containing dates and other things.
Whenever a needy person would greet me,
I would take from those dates,
Then walk along the cord until I reached the door of the house,
And hand it to the needy person.
My family would say to me,
"We will take care of it for you and deliver your charity to the needy."
But I would refuse, saying,
"I am eager to attain all the goodness and reward myself."
I was also exceptionally dutiful to my mother.
The Prophet, peace be upon him, heard my voice
As I was reciting the Qur'an in Paradise.
He said, "Such is dutifulness."
"Such is dutifulness." So, who am I?
