The Garden of Guidance. Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, said: "O you who have believed, be patient, persevere, remain steadfast, and fear Allah so that you may succeed." And the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "O people! Fear Allah, for, by Allah, among the believers before you, a man would have a saw placed upon his head, and be sawn in two, yet that would not turn him away from his religion. So fear Allah, for indeed, Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, will grant you victory and provide for you." Narrated by al-Tabarani. A point of benefit: It is authentically reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "And Allah has not granted anyone a gift better and more vast than patience." Patience is entirely good, and indeed, the patient will be given their reward without measure. Among the things that help one maintain patience is the firm conviction that whatever touches a person, whether good or bad, is something that Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, has already decreed before creating the creation, and that afflictions may expiate a sin or elevate one's rank.
