The sources of social security mentioned in the previous concept are diverse.
They range from the obligatory zakat to voluntary charity and Islamic endowments (awqaf).
Perhaps all of this is encompassed by the words of Allah the Exalted:
"And those within whose wealth is a known right for the petitioner and the deprived."
Reflect upon the text of Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, in the verse, where He designates it as a "right."
Thus, no one has a favor to bestow upon the deprived.
Rather, these are their rights from the wealth of Allah, in which He has made the wealthy mere trustees.
As He, the Exalted, says:
“Believe in Allah and His messenger, and spend of that whereof He hath made you trustees; and such of you as believe and spend (aright), theirs will be a great reward.” (57:7)
The implementation of this social security,
Spreads a spirit of harmony and mutual responsibility among the members of society.
It strengthens the bonds of connection between them.
And it prevents resentment, hatred, and envy from taking root between one person and another.
As for the social security institutions found in contemporary states,
They are marred by many shortcomings and violations,
When compared to what is prescribed in Islamic social security and mutual responsibility.
