Therefore, those who call to Allah err when they rush for results.

They miss the wisdom of patience and deliberation.

And gentleness toward all of creation.

And the patient waiting required in calling to Allah.

It is narrated from 'A'ishah, may Allah be pleased with her,

that she said to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him,

"Has there ever come upon you a day more difficult than the day of Uhud?"

He replied, "I have indeed suffered much from your people.

The most difficult of what I encountered from them was on the day of al-'Aqabah,

and he did not respond to what I desired."

Meaning, they belied him and mocked him, as is well known.

They ordered him to leave quickly,

and they set their children and servants upon him,

who pelted him with stones until he bled.

He said, "I departed, overwhelmed with grief,

and I did not regain my composure until I reached Qarn al-Tha'alib.

I raised my head,

and suddenly, there was a cloud shading me.

I looked, and behold, Jibril was within it.

He called out to me and said,

'Allah has heard what your people said to you,

and how they responded to you.

He has sent the Angel of the Mountains to you,

so that you may command him to do as you wish regarding them.'

The Angel of the Mountains called out to me, greeted me,

and then said,

'O Muhammad, it is as you wish.

If you desire, I will crush them between the two mountains.'

The Prophet, peace be upon him, replied,

'Rather, I hope that Allah will bring forth from their loins

those who will worship Allah alone,

and associate nothing with Him.'"

From this, we learn the wisdom of the caller to Allah,

his endurance in his mission,

not rushing for guidance,

having mercy for people, and disliking vengeance.

We learn that hearts are in the hands of the Most Merciful,

the importance of holding onto distant hope,

and looking forward to the righteousness of future generations.

“(It is) a bounty and a grace from Allah; and Allah is Knower, Wise.” (49:8)

And that is not difficult for Allah.
