Forty hadiths on the virtue of charity. On the authority of Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both). A man came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah, which people are most beloved to Allah, and which deeds are most beloved to Allah?" The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) replied: "The most beloved of people to Allah the Exalted is the one who is most beneficial to people. And the most beloved of deeds to Allah the Exalted is a joy you bring to a Muslim, or a distress you relieve from him, or a debt you pay off for him, or hunger you drive away from him. For me to walk with my brother to fulfill a need is more beloved to me than to seclude myself in this mosque for a month," meaning the mosque of Medina. "Whoever restrains his anger, Allah will conceal his faults. And whoever suppresses his rage, even though he could have acted upon it had he wished, Allah will fill his heart with hope on the Day of Resurrection. And whoever walks with his brother to fulfill a need until he secures it for him, Allah will make his feet firm on the day when feet shall slip." It was recorded by al-Tabarani, and classified as hasan by al-Albani.
