--> 00:00:45.549 Between them and Adam, peace be upon him, there were. 00:00:45.549 --> 00:00:47.549 Ten centuries. 00:00:47.549 --> 00:00:49.549 They spent those long centuries. 00:00:49.549 --> 00:00:51.549 As a single Ummah. 00:00:51.549 --> 00:00:53.619 Upon monotheism. 00:00:53.619 --> 00:00:55.619 Among them were five men. 00:00:55.619 --> 00:00:57.619 Who were righteous. 00:00:57.619 --> 00:00:59.619 Renowned for their worship. 00:00:59.619 --> 00:01:01.619 Until the people grew to love them. 00:01:01.619 --> 00:01:03.619 They were Wadd, Suwa', 00:01:03.619 --> 00:01:05.620 Yaghuth, Ya'uq, and Nasr. 00:01:05.620 --> 00:01:07.969 When these. 00:01:07.969 --> 00:01:09.969 Righteous men died. 00:01:09.969 --> 00:01:11.969 Satan came. 00:01:11.969 --> 00:01:13.969 In the guise of a sincere elder. 00:01:13.969 --> 00:01:15.969 To the people who lived. 00:01:15.969 --> 00:01:17.969 In their time. 00:01:17.969 --> 00:01:19.969 And suggested that they create. 00:01:19.969 --> 00:01:21.969 Images of those righteous men. 00:01:21.969 --> 00:01:23.969 And fashion for them. 00:01:23.969 --> 00:01:25.969 Statues, and place them. 00:01:25.969 --> 00:01:27.969 In prominent places. 00:01:27.969 --> 00:01:29.969 So that when they saw them. 00:01:30.969 --> 00:01:32.969 They would remember them. 00:01:32.969 --> 00:01:34.969 And that would be a cause. 00:01:34.969 --> 00:01:36.969 For their diligence in worship. 00:01:36.969 --> 00:01:39.030 As well. 00:01:39.030 --> 00:01:41.030 So the people did what. 00:01:41.030 --> 00:01:43.030 Satan commanded them. worshipped. 00:02:17.379 --> 00:02:19.379 These images and statues. 00:02:19.379 --> 00:02:21.379 And this was. 00:02:21.379 --> 00:02:23.379 The first shirk on earth. 00:02:23.379 --> 00:02:26.860 And among those. 00:02:26.860 --> 00:02:28.860 People was a righteous man. 00:02:28.860 --> 00:02:30.860 Called Nuh Ibn Lamak. 00:02:30.860 --> 00:02:32.889 He did not drift into. 00:02:32.889 --> 00:02:34.889 What his people had descended into. 00:02:34.889 --> 00:02:36.889 So he isolated himself from them and their shirk. 00:02:36.889 --> 00:02:38.889 And he was. 00:02:38.889 --> 00:02:40.889 Tending to his small flock of sheep. 00:02:40.889 --> 00:02:42.889 And living with his small family. 00:02:42.889 --> 00:02:44.889 Consisting of his wife. 00:02:44.889 --> 00:02:46.889 And his four sons. 00:02:46.889 --> 00:02:48.889 Who were Yam, Sam, 00:02:48.889 --> 00:02:50.889 Ham, and Yafith. 00:02:50.889 --> 00:02:53.240 Allah the Exalted revealed. 00:02:53.240 --> 00:02:55.240 To Nuh, peace be upon him. 00:02:55.240 --> 00:02:57.240 So he became a prophet. 00:02:57.240 --> 00:02:59.240 And He sent him to his people. 00:02:59.240 --> 00:03:01.240 As a warner and a cautioner. 00:03:01.240 --> 00:03:03.240 Thus he became the first. 00:03:03.240 --> 00:03:05.240 Messenger to the people of the earth. 00:03:05.240 --> 00:03:07.460 Nuh complied with. 00:03:07.460 --> 00:03:09.460 The command of Allah the Exalted. 00:03:09.460 --> 00:03:11.460 And began calling his people. 00:03:11.460 --> 00:03:13.460 To the worship of Allah alone. 00:03:13.460 --> 00:03:15.460 Warning them against shirk. 00:03:15.460 --> 00:03:17.460 And encouraging them toward the good. 00:03:17.460 --> 00:03:19.460 From Allah the Exalted. 00:03:19.460 --> 00:03:21.530 He was steadfast in His command. 00:03:21.530 --> 00:03:23.530 And he employed with them every. 00:03:23.530 --> 00:03:25.530 Possible method of da'wah. 00:03:25.530 --> 00:03:27.530 He would call them. 00:03:27.530 --> 00:03:29.530 By night and by day. 00:03:29.530 --> 00:03:31.530 But it only increased them. 00:03:31.530 --> 00:03:33.530 In flight. 00:03:33.530 --> 00:03:35.530 And they would mock him. 00:03:35.530 --> 00:03:37.530 And behave with poor manners. 00:03:37.530 --> 00:03:39.530 Whenever he spoke with them. 00:03:39.530 --> 00:03:41.530 “And lo! whenever I call unto them that Thou mayst pardon them they thrust their fingers in their ears and cover themselves with their garments and persist (in their refusal) and magnify themselves in pride.” (71:7) 00:03:41.530 --> 00:03:43.530 They would cover them. 00:03:57.819 --> 00:03:59.819 Sometimes he would call them. 00:03:59.819 --> 00:04:01.819 In public. 00:04:01.819 --> 00:04:03.819 And other times he would advise them privately. 00:04:03.819 --> 00:04:05.879 All of this out of his concern. 00:04:05.879 --> 00:04:07.879 And his fear for them. 00:04:07.879 --> 00:04:09.879 And he would entice them. 00:04:09.879 --> 00:04:11.879 That if they believed in Allah. 00:04:11.879 --> 00:04:13.879 Allah would send down upon them. 00:04:13.879 --> 00:04:15.879 Rain from the sky in abundance. 00:04:15.879 --> 00:04:17.879 And increase them in wealth. 00:04:17.879 --> 00:04:19.879 And children. 00:04:19.879 --> 00:04:21.879 And provide them with gardens. 00:04:21.879 --> 00:04:23.879 On earth. 00:04:23.879 --> 00:04:25.910 And cause rivers to flow for them therein. 00:04:25.910 --> 00:04:27.910 And he would warn them. 00:04:27.910 --> 00:04:29.910 Of the punishment of Allah the Exalted. 00:04:29.910 --> 00:04:32.009 If they disobeyed His command. 00:04:32.009 --> 00:04:34.009 And Nuh, peace be upon him. 00:04:34.009 --> 00:04:36.009 Would also command them to reflect. 00:04:36.009 --> 00:04:38.009 On Allah's creation of the heavens. 00:04:38.009 --> 00:04:40.009 And how Allah placed. 00:04:40.009 --> 00:04:42.009 In them the sun and the moon. 00:04:42.009 --> 00:04:44.009 As a sign of His power. 00:04:44.009 --> 00:04:46.040 And His magnificent craftsmanship. 00:04:46.040 --> 00:04:48.040 And he would command them to reflect on the earth. 00:04:48.040 --> 00:04:50.040 How Allah spread it out. 00:04:50.040 --> 00:04:52.040 Before them. 00:04:52.040 --> 00:04:54.040 And carved out wide paths for them therein. 00:04:54.040 --> 00:04:56.040 So that they could move about. 00:04:56.040 --> 00:04:58.199 With ease. 00:04:58.199 --> 00:05:00.199 But all of that. 00:05:00.199 --> 00:05:02.199 Was of no avail to them. 00:05:02.199 --> 00:05:04.199 They persisted in their denial. 00:05:04.199 --> 00:05:06.199 And their plotting against their prophet. 00:05:06.199 --> 00:05:08.199 And those with him, a great plot. 00:05:08.199 --> 00:05:10.259 Allah the Exalted said. 00:05:10.259 --> 00:05:12.259 He said, "My Lord, 00:05:12.259 --> 00:05:14.389 Indeed I have called. 00:05:14.389 --> 00:05:16.389 My people by night. 00:05:16.389 --> 00:05:18.389 And by day. 00:05:18.389 --> 00:05:20.389 But it did not increase them. 00:05:20.389 --> 00:05:22.389 In my call. 00:05:22.389 --> 00:05:24.389 Except in flight. 00:05:24.389 --> 00:05:26.389 And indeed, 00:05:26.389 --> 00:05:28.389 Whenever I called them. 00:05:28.389 --> 00:05:30.389 That You might forgive them. 00:05:30.389 --> 00:05:32.389 They put their fingers. 00:05:32.389 --> 00:05:34.389 In their ears. 00:05:38.389 --> 00:05:40.389 And covered themselves with their garments. 00:05:40.389 --> 00:05:42.389 And persisted. 00:05:42.389 --> 00:05:44.389 And were arrogant. 00:05:44.389 --> 00:05:46.389 With great arrogance. 00:05:46.389 --> 00:05:48.389 Then indeed, 00:05:48.389 --> 00:05:50.810 I called them publicly. 00:05:50.810 --> 00:05:52.810 Then indeed, 00:05:52.810 --> 00:05:56.759 I announced to them. 00:05:56.759 --> 00:05:58.759 And I spoke to them. 00:05:58.759 --> 00:06:00.759 In private. 00:06:00.759 --> 00:06:02.759 And said, 'Ask forgiveness of. 00:06:02.759 --> 00:06:04.759 Your Lord; indeed, 00:06:04.759 --> 00:06:06.759 He is ever a Perpetual Forgiver. 00:06:06.759 --> 00:06:08.759 He will send. 00:06:08.759 --> 00:06:10.759 The sky. 00:06:10.759 --> 00:06:12.759 Upon you. 00:06:12.759 --> 00:06:14.759 In abundance. 00:06:14.759 --> 00:06:16.949 And give you increase. 00:06:16.949 --> 00:06:18.949 In wealth. 00:06:18.949 --> 00:06:20.949 And children. 00:06:20.949 --> 00:06:22.949 And provide for you. 00:06:22.949 --> 00:06:24.949 Gardens. 00:06:24.949 --> 00:06:26.949 And provide for you. 00:06:26.949 --> 00:06:28.949 Gardens. 00:06:28.949 --> 00:06:30.949 And provide for you. 00:06:30.949 --> 00:06:32.949 Rivers.' 00:06:32.949 --> 00:06:34.949 “What aileth you that ye hope not toward Allah for dignity” (71:13) 00:06:34.949 --> 00:06:36.949 To Allah with reverence. with him. 00:06:45.660 --> 00:06:47.660 And argue by saying. 00:06:47.660 --> 00:06:49.660 "How can we follow. 00:06:49.660 --> 00:06:51.660 A human being like us? 00:06:51.660 --> 00:06:53.660 Why did Allah not send down upon us. 00:06:53.660 --> 00:06:55.689 Angels? 00:06:55.689 --> 00:06:57.689 And how can we follow you. 00:06:57.689 --> 00:06:59.689 And we see that your followers are 00:06:59.689 --> 00:07:01.689 the lowest among us, in our superficial judgment, 00:07:01.689 --> 00:07:03.689 adopting your opinions without 00:07:03.689 --> 00:07:05.689 reflection or study. 00:07:05.689 --> 00:07:07.689 We do not see that you possess 00:07:07.689 --> 00:07:09.689 any superiority over us, O Nuh. 00:07:09.689 --> 00:07:11.980 So why should we follow you? 00:07:11.980 --> 00:07:13.980 Then, it ended with them 00:07:13.980 --> 00:07:15.980 accusing their prophet 00:07:15.980 --> 00:07:17.980 of lying, misguidance, and madness. 00:07:17.980 --> 00:07:19.980 Then they threatened him with stoning, 00:07:19.980 --> 00:07:21.980 saying: 00:07:21.980 --> 00:07:23.980 "If you do not desist, O Nuh, 00:07:23.980 --> 00:07:25.980 from disparaging our gods 00:07:25.980 --> 00:07:27.980 and disturbing us in our gatherings, 00:07:27.980 --> 00:07:29.980 you shall certainly be among those stoned." 00:07:29.980 --> 00:07:32.870 Nuh, 00:07:32.870 --> 00:07:34.870 peace be upon him, 00:07:34.870 --> 00:07:36.870 did not heed the threats of his people, 00:07:36.870 --> 00:07:38.870 nor did he falter in calling them 00:07:38.870 --> 00:07:40.870 and fulfilling the message of his Lord 00:07:40.870 --> 00:07:42.870 to them. 00:07:42.870 --> 00:07:44.870 He called them for a thousand years, 00:07:44.870 --> 00:07:46.870 less fifty years, 00:07:46.870 --> 00:07:48.870 without weariness or boredom, 00:07:48.870 --> 00:07:50.870 until his people grew weary of him. 00:07:50.870 --> 00:07:52.870 They said to him, 00:07:52.870 --> 00:07:54.870 by way of challenge: 00:07:54.870 --> 00:07:56.870 “They said: O Noah! Thou hast disputed with us and multiplied disputation with us; now bring upon us that wherewith thou threatenest us, if thou art of the truthful.” (11:32) 00:07:56.870 --> 00:07:58.870 "You have argued with us too much, 00:07:58.870 --> 00:08:00.870 so bring upon us what you threaten us with 00:08:00.870 --> 00:08:02.870 of punishment, 00:08:02.870 --> 00:08:04.870 if you are truthful in your claim." 00:08:04.870 --> 00:08:07.029 He would reply to them 00:08:07.029 --> 00:08:09.029 that this rests with Allah; 00:08:09.029 --> 00:08:11.029 if He wills to punish you, 00:08:11.029 --> 00:08:13.029 you cannot escape Him. 00:08:13.029 --> 00:08:15.029 As for me, 00:08:15.029 --> 00:08:17.029 I have no duty except 00:08:17.029 --> 00:08:19.029 clear notification. 00:08:19.029 --> 00:08:22.019 And after these long 00:08:22.019 --> 00:08:24.019 years, 00:08:24.019 --> 00:08:26.019 none believed in Nuh, peace be upon him, 00:08:26.019 --> 00:08:28.019 except a few of his people. 00:08:28.019 --> 00:08:30.089 It is said that there believed with him 00:08:30.089 --> 00:08:32.090 eight, 00:08:32.090 --> 00:08:34.090 and it is said eighty, 00:08:34.090 --> 00:08:36.250 at the highest estimate. 00:08:36.250 --> 00:08:38.250 At that point, 00:08:38.250 --> 00:08:40.250 Allah the Exalted revealed to Nuh: 00:08:40.250 --> 00:08:42.250 "Peace." 00:08:42.250 --> 00:08:44.250 “And it was inspired in Noah, (saying): No-one of thy folk will believe save him who hath believed already. Be not distressed because of what they do.” (11:36) 00:08:44.250 --> 00:08:46.250 “And it was inspired in Noah, (saying): No-one of thy folk will believe save him who hath believed already. Leave not one of the disbelievers in the land.” (71:26) 00:09:02.539 --> 00:09:04.539 "Do not leave upon the earth any inhabitant 00:09:04.539 --> 00:09:06.600 among the disbelievers." 00:09:06.600 --> 00:09:08.600 "My Lord, I am overpowered." 00:09:08.600 --> 00:09:10.730 So the gates of heaven were opened 00:09:10.730 --> 00:09:12.730 for his supplication, 00:09:12.730 --> 00:09:14.730 and Allah answered him. 00:09:14.730 --> 00:09:16.730 Thus came the destruction and ruin 00:09:16.730 --> 00:09:18.730 for everyone on earth. 00:09:18.730 --> 00:09:21.879 Allah the Exalted commanded 00:09:21.879 --> 00:09:23.879 Nuh, peace be upon him, 00:09:23.879 --> 00:09:25.879 to cease calling his people 00:09:25.879 --> 00:09:27.879 and to begin building 00:09:27.879 --> 00:09:29.879 a ship that would be 00:09:29.879 --> 00:09:31.879 a means of salvation for him and for those 00:09:31.879 --> 00:09:33.980 with him. 00:09:33.980 --> 00:09:35.980 Nuh, peace be upon him, complied 00:09:35.980 --> 00:09:37.980 with the command of his Lord, 00:09:37.980 --> 00:09:39.980 building a ship by revelation from Allah 00:09:39.980 --> 00:09:42.039 and instruction. 00:09:42.039 --> 00:09:44.039 His people would pass by him 00:09:44.039 --> 00:09:46.039 and say: 00:09:46.039 --> 00:09:48.039 "O Nuh, you were a prophet, 00:09:48.039 --> 00:09:50.039 but today you have become a carpenter?" 00:09:50.039 --> 00:09:52.070 And they would say, 00:09:52.070 --> 00:09:54.070 mocking him: 00:09:54.070 --> 00:09:56.070 "We know of a ship that sails 00:09:56.070 --> 00:09:58.070 on the sea, but you are making it 00:09:58.070 --> 00:10:00.070 move on land!" 00:10:00.070 --> 00:10:02.200 And they would laugh. 00:10:02.200 --> 00:10:04.200 Nuh, peace be upon him, would answer them 00:10:04.200 --> 00:10:06.200 with the steadfastness of mountains: 00:10:06.200 --> 00:10:08.259 "If you mock 00:10:08.259 --> 00:10:10.259 us today, 00:10:10.259 --> 00:10:12.259 we shall mock you 00:10:12.259 --> 00:10:14.519 just as you mock." 00:10:14.519 --> 00:10:16.519 Nuh continued his work 00:10:16.519 --> 00:10:18.519 until he had crafted a 00:10:18.519 --> 00:10:20.519 great ship of three 00:10:20.519 --> 00:10:22.710 levels; 00:11:23.000 --> 00:11:25.000 in the name of Allah is its course 00:11:25.000 --> 00:11:27.000 and its anchorage." 00:11:27.000 --> 00:11:29.000 So they all boarded 00:11:29.000 --> 00:11:31.000 the ship, 00:11:31.000 --> 00:11:33.000 while the punishment descended upon his people. 00:11:33.000 --> 00:11:36.120 Allah the Exalted commanded 00:11:36.120 --> 00:11:38.120 the sky, 00:11:38.120 --> 00:11:40.120 and it opened its gates with water 00:11:40.120 --> 00:11:42.120 pouring down upon them 00:11:42.120 --> 00:11:44.179 like buckets. 00:11:44.179 --> 00:11:46.179 And Allah caused the water to gush 00:11:46.179 --> 00:11:48.179 from the earth as springs emerging 00:11:48.179 --> 00:11:50.179 from every place. 00:11:50.179 --> 00:11:52.179 So the water of the sky met 00:11:52.179 --> 00:11:54.179 the water of the earth for a matter 00:11:54.179 --> 00:11:56.179 already ordained. 00:11:56.179 --> 00:11:58.179 The water covered the entire earth, 00:11:58.179 --> 00:12:00.179 and the people drowned. 00:12:00.179 --> 00:12:02.179 The ship sailed 00:12:02.179 --> 00:12:04.500 under the protection and care of Allah. 00:12:04.500 --> 00:12:06.500 The waves began 00:12:06.500 --> 00:12:08.500 to rise like mountains 00:12:08.500 --> 00:12:10.500 in a majestic scene 00:12:10.500 --> 00:12:12.500 that strikes terror into hearts 00:12:12.500 --> 00:12:14.700 and bewilders the mind. 00:12:14.700 --> 00:12:16.700 In the midst of that, 00:12:16.700 --> 00:12:18.700 Nuh, peace be upon him, saw 00:12:18.700 --> 00:12:20.700 his son, who had not 00:12:20.700 --> 00:12:22.700 believed in him 00:12:22.700 --> 00:12:24.700 and had refused to board the ship with him. 00:12:24.700 --> 00:12:26.700 He said to him: 00:12:26.700 --> 00:12:28.700 "O my son, 00:12:28.700 --> 00:12:30.700 do not be with the disbelievers." 00:12:30.700 --> 00:12:32.889 The mercy of a father 00:12:32.889 --> 00:12:34.889 for his son in the final 00:12:34.889 --> 00:12:36.980 moments, 00:12:36.980 --> 00:12:38.980 anxious for him to be saved 00:12:38.980 --> 00:12:40.980 from disbelief before being saved 00:12:40.980 --> 00:12:43.240 from drowning. 00:12:43.240 --> 00:12:45.240 But that son 00:12:45.240 --> 00:12:47.240 was denied success, 00:12:47.240 --> 00:12:49.240 so he refused to board the ship 00:12:49.240 --> 00:12:51.240 and said: 00:12:51.240 --> 00:12:53.240 "I will take refuge on a mountain 00:12:53.240 --> 00:12:55.240 that will protect me 00:12:55.240 --> 00:12:57.370 from the water." 00:12:57.370 --> 00:12:59.370 The righteous prophet replied: 00:12:59.370 --> 00:13:01.399 "There is no protector today 00:13:01.399 --> 00:13:03.399 from the decree of Allah 00:13:03.399 --> 00:13:05.399 except those upon whom He has mercy." 00:13:05.399 --> 00:13:07.559 The dialogue ended 00:13:07.559 --> 00:13:09.559 between the father and his son 00:13:09.559 --> 00:13:11.559 with a surging wave 00:13:11.559 --> 00:13:13.559 that took that disbelieving son 00:13:13.559 --> 00:13:15.559 far away from his father. 00:13:15.559 --> 00:13:18.840 Allah the Exalted said: 00:13:18.840 --> 00:13:20.840 "And it was revealed to Nuh 00:13:20.840 --> 00:13:22.840 that none will believe 00:13:22.840 --> 00:13:24.840 from your people 00:13:24.840 --> 00:13:26.840 “And it was inspired in Noah, (saying): No-one of thy folk will believe save him who hath believed already. Be not distressed because of what they do.” (11:36) 00:13:32.840 --> 00:13:34.840 so do not be distressed 00:13:34.840 --> 00:13:36.840 by what they used to do. 00:13:36.840 --> 00:13:38.840 And construct the ship 00:13:38.840 --> 00:13:40.840 under Our eyes 00:13:40.840 --> 00:13:42.840 and Our revelation, 00:13:42.840 --> 00:13:44.840 and do not address Me 00:13:44.840 --> 00:13:46.840 concerning those who have wronged; 00:13:46.840 --> 00:13:48.840 indeed, they 00:13:48.840 --> 00:13:50.840 are to be drowned." 00:13:50.840 --> 00:13:52.840 And he was constructing 00:13:52.840 --> 00:13:54.840 the ship, and whenever 00:13:54.840 --> 00:13:56.840 A group of his people 00:13:56.840 --> 00:13:58.840 passed by him, 00:13:58.840 --> 00:14:00.840 and they mocked him. 00:14:00.840 --> 00:14:02.840 He said, "If you mock 00:14:02.840 --> 00:14:04.840 us, then we 00:14:04.840 --> 00:14:06.840 shall mock 00:14:06.840 --> 00:14:08.840 you, just as you mock. 00:14:08.840 --> 00:14:10.840 You shall soon 00:14:10.840 --> 00:14:12.840 come to know who 00:14:12.840 --> 00:14:14.840 will receive a punishment 00:14:14.840 --> 00:14:16.840 that will humiliate him and upon whom 00:14:16.840 --> 00:14:18.840 a lasting punishment 00:14:18.840 --> 00:14:20.840 will descend." 00:14:20.840 --> 00:14:22.840 Then, when 00:14:22.840 --> 00:14:24.840 Our command came, 00:14:24.840 --> 00:14:26.840 and the earth gushed forth with water, 00:14:26.840 --> 00:14:28.840 We said, "Load into it 00:14:28.840 --> 00:14:30.840 of 00:14:30.840 --> 00:14:32.840 every 00:14:32.840 --> 00:14:34.840 creature two mates, and your family, 00:14:34.840 --> 00:14:36.840 except for those 00:14:36.840 --> 00:14:38.840 against whom the decree has already been passed, 00:14:38.840 --> 00:14:40.840 and those who believe." 00:14:40.840 --> 00:14:42.840 But none believed with him 00:14:42.840 --> 00:14:44.840 except a few. 00:14:44.840 --> 00:14:47.259 And he said, "Embark 00:14:47.259 --> 00:14:49.259 therein, in the name of Allah, 00:14:49.259 --> 00:14:51.259 its course and its anchorage. 00:14:51.259 --> 00:14:53.450 Indeed, 00:14:53.450 --> 00:14:55.450 my Lord is Forgiving, 00:14:55.450 --> 00:14:57.450 Merciful." 00:14:57.450 --> 00:14:59.450 And it sailed 00:14:59.450 --> 00:15:01.450 with them amidst waves 00:15:01.450 --> 00:15:03.450 like mountains, and Nuh called out 00:15:03.450 --> 00:15:05.450 to his son, 00:15:05.450 --> 00:15:07.450 and Nuh called out to his son, 00:15:07.450 --> 00:15:09.450 who was in a secluded place, 00:15:09.450 --> 00:15:11.450 "O my son, 00:15:11.450 --> 00:15:13.450 come aboard with us, 00:15:13.450 --> 00:15:15.450 O my son, 00:15:15.450 --> 00:15:17.580 come aboard with us, 00:15:17.580 --> 00:15:19.580 and do not be with 00:15:19.580 --> 00:15:21.580 the disbelievers." 00:15:21.580 --> 00:15:23.580 He said, "I will take refuge on 00:15:23.580 --> 00:15:25.580 a mountain 00:15:25.580 --> 00:15:27.580 that will protect me from the water." 00:15:27.580 --> 00:15:30.379 He said, "There is 00:15:30.379 --> 00:15:32.379 no protector today from 00:15:32.379 --> 00:15:34.379 the decree of Allah, except 00:15:34.379 --> 00:15:36.379 for those upon whom He has mercy." 00:15:36.379 --> 00:15:38.379 Then the waves came between them, 00:15:38.379 --> 00:15:40.379 and he was among the drowned. 00:15:42.379 --> 00:15:44.860 The divine 00:15:44.860 --> 00:15:46.980 command was fulfilled, 00:15:46.980 --> 00:15:48.980 the rain from the sky ceased, 00:15:48.980 --> 00:15:50.980 and the earth 00:15:50.980 --> 00:15:52.980 swallowed what was upon it 00:15:52.980 --> 00:15:54.980 of water. 00:15:54.980 --> 00:15:56.980 The ship settled upon the mountain 00:15:56.980 --> 00:15:58.980 that Allah intended for it 00:15:58.980 --> 00:16:00.980 to settle upon, 00:16:00.980 --> 00:16:03.019 which is Mount Judi. 00:16:03.019 --> 00:16:05.019 And it was proclaimed that destruction 00:16:05.019 --> 00:16:07.620 had come to the wrongdoing people. 00:16:07.620 --> 00:16:09.620 The ship came to rest, 00:16:09.620 --> 00:16:11.620 but the heart of Nuh, 00:16:11.620 --> 00:16:13.620 the compassionate father, 00:16:13.620 --> 00:16:15.620 did not find rest. 00:16:15.620 --> 00:16:17.620 He raised his hands to the sky 00:16:17.620 --> 00:16:19.620 and said, 00:16:19.620 --> 00:16:21.620 "O my Lord, 00:16:21.620 --> 00:16:23.620 You promised to save me and my family, 00:16:23.620 --> 00:16:25.620 and my drowned son 00:16:25.620 --> 00:16:27.620 is of my family, 00:16:27.620 --> 00:16:29.620 and You, my Lord, are the wisest of judges." 00:16:29.620 --> 00:16:31.850 So Allah said to him, 00:16:31.850 --> 00:16:33.850 "O Nuh, 00:16:33.850 --> 00:16:35.850 “He said: O Noah! Lo! he is not of thy household; lo! he is of evil conduct, so ask not of Me that whereof thou hast no knowledge. I admonish thee lest thou be among the ignorant.” (11:46) 00:16:35.850 --> 00:16:37.909 your family are only 00:16:37.909 --> 00:16:39.980 those who followed you, 00:16:39.980 --> 00:16:41.980 and this son 00:16:41.980 --> 00:16:43.980 has acted in a way that is not righteous. 00:16:43.980 --> 00:16:45.980 So do not ask of Me 00:16:45.980 --> 00:16:47.980 that which you have no knowledge of. 00:16:47.980 --> 00:16:49.980 I warn you against being 00:16:49.980 --> 00:16:51.980 among the ignorant." 00:16:51.980 --> 00:16:54.039 So Nuh, 00:16:54.039 --> 00:16:56.039 peace be upon him, apologized 00:16:56.039 --> 00:16:58.039 and sought forgiveness from his Lord, 00:16:58.039 --> 00:17:00.039 and refrained from asking his Lord 00:17:00.039 --> 00:17:02.039 for that which he had no knowledge of. 00:17:02.039 --> 00:17:04.259 The Almighty said: 00:17:04.259 --> 00:17:06.519 "And it was said, 'O earth, 00:17:06.519 --> 00:17:08.519 swallow your water,' 00:17:08.519 --> 00:17:10.519 and 'O sky, 00:17:10.519 --> 00:17:12.519 cease,' 00:17:12.519 --> 00:17:14.519 and the water subsided, 00:17:14.519 --> 00:17:16.519 and the water subsided, 00:17:16.519 --> 00:17:18.519 and the matter was concluded. 00:17:18.519 --> 00:17:20.519 It settled upon Judi, 00:17:20.519 --> 00:17:22.519 and it was said, 00:17:22.519 --> 00:17:24.519 'Away with the wrongdoing 00:17:24.519 --> 00:17:26.519 people.'" 00:17:26.519 --> 00:17:28.519 And Nuh 00:17:28.519 --> 00:17:30.519 called to his Lord, 00:17:30.519 --> 00:17:32.519 saying, "My Lord, 00:17:32.519 --> 00:17:34.519 “And Noah cried unto his Lord and said: My Lord! Lo! my son is of my household! Surely Thy promise is the truth and Thou are the Most Just of Judges.” (11:45) 00:17:34.519 --> 00:17:36.519 saying, "My Lord, 00:17:36.519 --> 00:17:38.519 “And Noah cried unto his Lord and said: My Lord! Lo! my son is of my household! Surely Thy promise is the truth and Thou are the Most Just of Judges.” (11:45) 00:17:38.519 --> 00:17:40.519 Your promise is 00:17:40.519 --> 00:17:42.519 the truth, and You are 00:17:42.519 --> 00:17:44.519 the wisest of judges." 00:17:44.519 --> 00:17:46.519 He said, "O Nuh, 00:17:46.519 --> 00:17:48.519 he is not 00:17:48.519 --> 00:17:50.519 of your family; 00:17:50.519 --> 00:17:52.710 he is a deed 00:17:52.710 --> 00:17:54.710 not righteous. 00:17:54.710 --> 00:17:56.710 So do not ask Me 00:17:56.710 --> 00:17:58.710 for that which you have no 00:17:58.710 --> 00:18:00.710 knowledge of. 00:18:00.710 --> 00:18:02.940 I advise you 00:18:02.940 --> 00:18:04.940 not to be 00:18:04.940 --> 00:18:06.940 among the ignorant." 00:18:06.940 --> 00:18:08.940 He said, "My Lord, 00:18:08.940 --> 00:18:11.130 I seek refuge in You 00:18:11.130 --> 00:18:13.130 from asking You 00:18:13.130 --> 00:18:15.130 for that which I have no knowledge of. 00:18:15.130 --> 00:18:17.130 And unless You forgive me 00:18:17.130 --> 00:18:19.130 and have mercy upon me, 00:18:19.130 --> 00:18:21.130 I will be among 00:18:21.130 --> 00:18:23.130 the losers." 00:18:23.130 --> 00:18:25.160 It was said, "O Nuh, 00:18:25.160 --> 00:18:27.160 disembark in peace 00:18:27.160 --> 00:18:29.160 from Us and blessings 00:18:29.160 --> 00:18:31.160 upon you, 00:18:31.160 --> 00:18:33.160 and blessings 00:18:33.160 --> 00:18:35.160 upon you and upon the nations 00:18:35.160 --> 00:18:37.160 from those 00:18:37.160 --> 00:18:39.220 who are with you. 00:18:39.220 --> 00:18:41.220 We will grant them enjoyment, 00:18:41.220 --> 00:18:43.220 then there shall touch them 00:18:43.220 --> 00:18:45.960 from Us a painful 00:18:45.960 --> 00:18:47.960 punishment." 00:18:47.960 --> 00:18:51.240 Nuh had 00:18:51.240 --> 00:18:53.240 another wife 00:18:53.240 --> 00:18:55.240 besides the one who boarded 00:18:55.240 --> 00:18:57.240 the ship with him. 00:18:57.240 --> 00:18:59.240 That wife 00:18:59.240 --> 00:19:01.240 was a traitor to her husband in faith, 00:19:01.240 --> 00:19:03.240 as she remained upon the religion 00:19:03.240 --> 00:19:05.240 of her disbelieving people. 00:19:05.240 --> 00:19:07.240 So she did not board with her husband 00:19:07.240 --> 00:19:09.240 in the ship of salvation, 00:19:09.240 --> 00:19:11.240 and she perished as well 00:19:11.240 --> 00:19:14.140 with those who perished. 00:19:14.140 --> 00:19:16.140 Thus the punishment descended, 00:19:16.140 --> 00:19:18.140 and Allah drowned 00:19:18.140 --> 00:19:20.140 everyone on earth, 00:19:20.140 --> 00:19:22.299 and none of them were saved. 00:19:22.299 --> 00:19:24.299 If Allah had had mercy 00:19:24.299 --> 00:19:26.299 on any of them, 00:19:26.299 --> 00:19:28.299 He would have had mercy on that woman 00:19:28.299 --> 00:19:30.299 who, when she saw the sky 00:19:30.299 --> 00:19:32.299 raining and the earth 00:19:32.299 --> 00:19:34.299 gushing with water, 00:19:34.299 --> 00:19:36.299 climbed with her infant son 00:19:36.299 --> 00:19:38.299 to one of the mountains. 00:19:38.299 --> 00:19:40.420 The water reached her, 00:19:40.420 --> 00:19:42.420 so she climbed higher; 00:19:42.420 --> 00:19:44.420 the water reached her, 00:19:44.420 --> 00:19:46.420 and she climbed until 00:19:46.420 --> 00:19:48.420 she reached the peak of the mountain. 00:19:48.420 --> 00:19:50.420 The water covered her 00:19:50.420 --> 00:19:52.420 until it reached 00:19:52.420 --> 00:19:54.420 her neck. 00:19:54.420 --> 00:19:56.420 She lifted her child upward, 00:19:56.420 --> 00:19:58.420 hoping he might be saved, 00:19:58.420 --> 00:20:00.420 but the water covered them both 00:20:00.420 --> 00:20:02.420 just as it covered the others. 00:20:02.420 --> 00:20:05.579 Nuh, 00:20:05.579 --> 00:20:07.579 peace be upon him, lived on earth, 00:20:07.579 --> 00:20:09.579 and humanity multiplied from his offspring. 00:20:09.579 --> 00:20:11.579 The lineage of 00:20:11.579 --> 00:20:13.579 those who were with him on the ship ceased, 00:20:13.579 --> 00:20:15.579 and thus Nuh became 00:20:15.579 --> 00:20:17.579 the second father of humanity 00:20:17.579 --> 00:20:19.579 after Adam, peace be upon them both. 00:20:19.579 --> 00:20:21.700 The Sudanese, the Berbers, 00:20:21.700 --> 00:20:23.700 and the Copts are 00:20:23.700 --> 00:20:25.740 from the lineage of Ham ibn Nuh. 00:20:25.740 --> 00:20:27.740 The Arabs, the Persians, and the Romans 00:20:27.740 --> 00:20:29.740 are from the lineage of Sam ibn Nuh. 00:20:29.740 --> 00:20:31.740 The Turks, the Slavs, 00:20:31.740 --> 00:20:33.740 and Gog and Magog 00:20:33.740 --> 00:20:35.740 are from the lineage of Yafith, 00:20:35.740 --> 00:20:38.950 Yafith ibn Nuh. 00:20:38.950 --> 00:20:40.950 Nuh, peace be upon him, remained 00:20:40.950 --> 00:20:42.950 after he left the ship 00:20:42.950 --> 00:20:44.980 for a time on earth, 00:20:44.980 --> 00:20:46.980 until his appointed time came. 00:20:46.980 --> 00:20:48.980 It is said that Nuh, 00:20:48.980 --> 00:20:50.980 After this long life, 00:20:50.980 --> 00:20:52.980 he was asked, and it was said to him: 00:20:52.980 --> 00:20:54.980 "How did you find this world?" 00:20:54.980 --> 00:20:57.019 He replied: 00:20:57.019 --> 00:20:59.019 "I found it like a house 00:20:59.019 --> 00:21:01.019 that has two doors; 00:21:01.019 --> 00:21:03.019 I entered through one of them, 00:21:03.019 --> 00:21:05.019 and I exited through the other." 00:21:05.019 --> 00:21:07.210 This is how he viewed the journey 00:21:07.210 --> 00:21:09.210 of his life over a thousand years, 00:21:09.210 --> 00:21:12.039 or more. 00:21:12.039 --> 00:21:14.039 Honorable brothers, 00:21:14.039 --> 00:21:16.039 Allah the Exalted mentioned 00:21:16.039 --> 00:21:18.039 the name of Nuh, peace be upon him, 00:21:18.039 --> 00:21:20.039 in the Noble Qur'an 00:21:20.039 --> 00:21:22.039 forty-three times, 00:21:22.039 --> 00:21:24.039 and his story appears in more 00:21:24.039 --> 00:21:26.039 than one surah. 00:21:26.039 --> 00:21:28.039 This is 00:21:28.039 --> 00:21:30.039 only so that we may draw lessons, 00:21:30.039 --> 00:21:32.039 benefits, and admonitions from it, 00:21:32.039 --> 00:21:34.299 among which are 00:21:35.299 --> 00:21:37.299 that the punishment of Allah for the disobedient 00:21:37.299 --> 00:21:39.299 may sometimes occur in this world, 00:21:39.299 --> 00:21:41.299 along with what may occur 00:21:41.299 --> 00:21:43.299 in the Hereafter, 00:21:43.299 --> 00:21:45.299 for those who denied the messengers 00:21:45.299 --> 00:21:47.299 and deviated from the obedience of Allah the Exalted. 00:21:49.619 --> 00:21:51.619 All the messengers, from Nuh, 00:21:51.619 --> 00:21:53.619 peace be upon him, to Muhammad, 00:21:53.619 --> 00:21:55.619 peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, 00:21:55.619 --> 00:21:57.619 are in agreement in their call 00:21:57.619 --> 00:21:59.619 to pure monotheism. 00:22:01.740 --> 00:22:03.740 The caller to Allah must be diligent, 00:22:04.740 --> 00:22:06.740 just as 00:22:06.740 --> 00:22:08.740 Nuh, peace be upon him, used to be, 00:22:08.740 --> 00:22:10.740 for he would call them by night and by day, 00:22:10.740 --> 00:22:12.740 and in private and in public. 00:22:12.740 --> 00:22:14.740 He exercised patience, 00:22:14.740 --> 00:22:16.740 and this is the greatest form of patience. 00:22:19.160 --> 00:22:21.160 Seeking the help of Allah 00:22:21.160 --> 00:22:23.160 is always necessary in all matters, 00:22:23.160 --> 00:22:25.160 and mentioning the name of Allah the Exalted 00:22:25.160 --> 00:22:27.160 upon them, 00:22:27.160 --> 00:22:29.160 just as Nuh, peace be upon him, said, 00:22:29.160 --> 00:22:31.160 "And he said, 'Embark therein; 00:22:31.160 --> 00:22:33.160 in the name of Allah is its course 00:22:33.160 --> 00:22:35.670 and its anchorage.'" 00:22:35.670 --> 00:22:37.670 Fifth: 00:22:37.670 --> 00:22:39.670 Brotherhood and bonds in the religion 00:22:39.670 --> 00:22:41.670 are greater than all other ties, 00:22:41.670 --> 00:22:43.670 even those of lineage. 00:22:43.670 --> 00:22:46.309 Sixth: 00:22:46.309 --> 00:22:48.309 Because of the patience of Nuh, 00:22:48.309 --> 00:22:50.309 peace be upon him, in calling his people, 00:22:50.309 --> 00:22:52.309 and his endurance of the hardships 00:22:52.309 --> 00:22:54.309 of the call, 00:22:54.309 --> 00:22:56.309 he became one of the messengers of strong resolve. 00:22:56.309 --> 00:22:58.950 Seventh: 00:22:58.950 --> 00:23:00.950 The ultimate outcome is always 00:23:00.950 --> 00:23:02.950 for the righteous. 00:23:02.950 --> 00:23:04.950 The punishment of Allah the Exalted 00:23:04.950 --> 00:23:06.950 is for the disbelieving, wrongdoing people. 00:23:06.950 --> 00:23:09.849 This discussion 00:23:09.849 --> 00:23:11.849 has a remainder, if Allah wills. 00:23:11.849 --> 00:23:13.849 And Allah knows best. 00:23:13.849 --> 00:23:15.849 Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, 00:23:15.849 --> 00:23:17.849 and may the peace and blessings of Allah be 00:23:17.849 --> 00:23:19.849 upon our Prophet Muhammad, 00:23:19.849 --> 00:23:21.849 and upon his family, 00:23:21.849 --> 00:23:23.849 and all of his companions. 00:23:23.849 --> 00:23:27.349 You have been 00:23:27.349 --> 00:23:29.349 with the stories of the prophets, 00:23:29.349 --> 00:23:37.269 a narrative 00:23:37.269 --> 00:23:40.710 that guides the believer.
