The first point concerns the placement of the Surah. 00:01:00.880 --> 00:01:04.879 It is like a proof for what is at the end of Al-Ghashiyah. 00:01:04.879 --> 00:01:12.010 At the end of Al-Ghashiyah: "Indeed, to Us is their return. Then indeed, upon Us is their account." 00:01:12.010 --> 00:01:17.010 "Indeed, to Us is their return. Then indeed, upon Us is their account." 00:01:17.010 --> 00:01:23.200 How will Allah hold them accountable? He will hold them accountable, for He is the All-Knowing of all things. 00:01:23.200 --> 00:01:26.200 And He is watching them, and they are in the world in ambush. 00:01:26.200 --> 00:01:32.329 So Surah Al-Fajr came, most of whose verses revolve around or relate to this reality: 00:01:32.329 --> 00:01:38.329 "Indeed, our Lord is in ambush." It came as proof of the reckoning. 00:01:38.329 --> 00:01:44.430 The proof of the reckoning is that He watches us in this world, and He is the Wise, may He be exalted. 00:01:44.430 --> 00:01:50.430 For there is no ambush except that the matter will lead to reckoning. 00:01:50.430 --> 00:01:54.680 Then, from the beginning of the Surah, "By the dawn and the ten nights," 00:01:54.680 --> 00:01:58.750 it confirms that the Lord is in ambush, may He be exalted. 00:01:58.750 --> 00:02:03.840 This is very apparent in the first and second sections. 00:02:03.840 --> 00:02:12.129 The first, with its oaths by cosmic events: the dawn and the ten nights, 00:02:12.129 --> 00:02:17.289 and the even and the odd, are cosmic events and phenomena. 00:02:17.289 --> 00:02:23.520 They indicate that He, may He be exalted, is in ambush. 00:02:23.520 --> 00:02:29.580 Along with historical events: "Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with 'Ad? — [with the city of] Iram of the pillars," 00:02:29.580 --> 00:02:34.580 which also indicates that the Lord is in ambush. 00:02:34.580 --> 00:02:38.580 Then the second section came, clarifying that Allah is in ambush, and man is heedless of that. 00:02:38.580 --> 00:02:43.580 “As for man, whenever his Lord trieth him by honouring him, and is gracious unto him, he saith: My Lord honoureth me.” (89:15) 00:02:44.580 --> 00:02:49.580 As for the third section, it is the hidden part, and it is what I wish to make my second point about. 00:02:49.580 --> 00:02:53.639 The second point is about the placement of the third section of the Surah. 00:02:53.639 --> 00:02:58.639 The first and second sections confirm that your Lord is indeed watching. 00:02:58.639 --> 00:03:02.639 And they explain the state of man when this reality is absent from him. 00:03:02.639 --> 00:03:06.639 As for man, when his Lord tests him and honors him and favors him, the verses continue. 00:03:06.639 --> 00:03:09.639 The third section, however, speaks about the Day of Resurrection. 00:03:09.639 --> 00:03:14.639 And in it, the fruit of that surveillance over the servants becomes apparent. 00:03:14.639 --> 00:03:17.639 And the Lord, may He be exalted, will come. 00:03:17.639 --> 00:03:22.960 "And your Lord will come, and the angels, rank upon rank." May He be exalted. 00:03:22.960 --> 00:03:28.960 This great scene is intensely connected to what is also at the end of Al-Ghashiyah. 00:03:28.960 --> 00:03:32.960 "Indeed, to Us is their return. Then indeed, upon Us is their account." 00:03:32.960 --> 00:03:36.960 So He who was in ambush for you, 00:03:36.960 --> 00:03:39.960 is the one who will hold you accountable, may He be exalted. 00:03:39.960 --> 00:03:42.960 “And thy Lord shall come with angels, rank on rank,” (89:22) 00:03:42.960 --> 00:03:47.030 And the third point is about the theme of the Surah. 00:03:47.030 --> 00:03:51.030 It is briefly mentioned here as proof that the Lord is in ambush 00:03:51.030 --> 00:03:54.030 for everyone who transgressed, became arrogant, caused corruption, and lied. 00:03:54.030 --> 00:03:57.439 This is correct, but we can refine the statement. 00:03:57.439 --> 00:04:02.439 If we make it more comprehensive, we can say: proof that the Lord is in ambush 00:04:02.439 --> 00:04:06.439 along with an explanation of the consequence for those who believed this, 00:04:06.439 --> 00:04:09.439 or disbelieved on the Day of Return. 00:04:09.439 --> 00:04:14.729 This reality: "Indeed, your Lord is in ambush." 00:04:14.729 --> 00:04:18.730 There are those who believe in it and act accordingly. 00:04:18.730 --> 00:04:22.730 They are the ones who will be called out: "O soul at peace, 00:04:22.730 --> 00:04:25.730 return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him]." 00:04:25.730 --> 00:04:29.920 As for those who turned away from this reality, 00:04:29.920 --> 00:04:32.920 they will say on that Day: 00:04:32.920 --> 00:04:35.920 "Oh, I wish I had sent forth [good deeds] for my life." 00:04:35.920 --> 00:04:36.920 And Allah knows best. 00:04:36.920 --> 00:04:38.920 May our Lord Muhammad, his family, and all his Companions be blessed. 00:04:38.920 --> 00:04:40.920 Praise be to Allah, O Lord of the worlds.
