From the masters of the Ansar
I met Musab bin Omair, may God be pleased with him
The first to come to the city
So I heard the Qur’an from him
So the love of Islam entered my heart
I converted to Islam immediately
This was before Usayd bin Hudayr converted to Islam
And Saad bin Maazhar, may God be pleased with them both
I never stopped reading the Qur’an every now and then
Even the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace
He heard me reading one day while I was in the mosque
He recognized my voice
So he called me and said
Oh God, forgive him
And the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, made me
On dividing the spoils of the Battle of Hunayn
He also made me commander of his guard
In the Battle of Tabuk
I visited the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace
Once upon a dark night
With me is Usayd bin Hudayr, may God be pleased with him
When we got up to leave
My staff was illuminated with light like a lamp
A dignity from God to us
So we saw the way
When we parted
The wand of each one of us was lit
He saw his way until he reached his home
I witnessed all the scenes with the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace
I had a strong love for the Qur’an
One of the bravest described
In the Battle of Dhat Al-Riqa'
We were hit by the enemy
One of the men's women was captured
So her husband vowed to join us
And not to return until blood is shed by Muslims
Or save his wife
So he followed us
When the night fell
We went down to spend the night in a reef
The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said
Who's watching over us tonight?
So Ammar bin Yasser and I stood up
May God be pleased with him
And we said, O Messenger of God
He, may God bless him and grant him peace, said
Yes
So I told my brother Ammar
We are at the mouth of the people
Which part of the night do you like to sleep in?
First or last
He said, “Rather, I sleep the first part of it.”
So he went not far from me and slept
And I went to guard
While I was in the stillness of the night
And in complete darkness
I longed to pray and read the Qur’an
So I got up and grew up
I started reading Surah Al-Kahf
Then the man came and stood at the bottom of the valley
He saw me from afar standing in my place
He shot me with an arrow and hit me
So I removed the arrow and threw it away
I continued my reading
He ordered me with a second arrow
So I took it off and continued my prayer
Firmani with a third arrow
So I took it off
However, I remembered my guarding of Muslims
I was afraid that the enemy would come from me
So I said takbeer, kneeled, and prostrated
Then I came to Ammar and woke him up
When the polytheist saw us
Not to be on the run after fulfilling his vow
When Ammar saw me
And blood is bleeding from me
He said to me, "Would you wake me up the first time he threw you?"
I said, “I was reading a surah.”
I didn't like to cut it off
Until I get rid of it
By God, if it were not for my fear of missing a gap
The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, commanded me
By preserving it, cutting myself off would be more beloved to me than cutting it off
She participated in the wars of the apostates after the death of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace
You did well on Al-Yamamah
On the night of the battle, I saw in my dream that the heavens had opened for me
So I entered it and then it closed on me
So I said to Abu Saeed Al-Khudri, may God be pleased with him, that by God it is martyrdom
When daylight came and the fighting began
I saw the destabilization of the Islamic ranks in front of the lying army of Musaylimah
I rose to a high place on the ground and started shouting
O community of Ansar, distinguish yourself from the people and break the eyelids of the swords
And do not let Islam come from you
I kept repeating that call until about four of them gathered around me
At their head were Thabit bin Qais, Al-Baraa bin Malik, and Abu Dujana
The owner of the sword of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace
So we advanced with full force towards Musaylimah and those with him
Until we took them to the Garden of Death
That's where they ended up
As for me, I suffered wounds on my face and the front part of my body
Until I fell as a martyr, coming and not planning
