A summary of the concepts held by the Ahl al-Sunnah.
The divergence between those who believe in the Last Day and those who do not, or are heedless of it.
Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, says:
“They know only some appearance of the life of the world, and are heedless of the Hereafter.” (30:7)
Consequently,
A person who believes in the Hereafter and prepares for it can never align
With another who lives only for this world and expects nothing beyond it.
These two can never agree on the assessment of a single matter in this life,
Nor on a single one of its many values.
Nor can they agree on a single judgment regarding an incident, a situation, or any affair.
For each of them has a different scale,
Each has a different perspective,
And each has a different light by which they view things, events, values, and circumstances.
The former sees only the outward appearance of worldly life,
While the latter perceives the connections and brilliance that lie beyond the surface,
And the laws that encompass both the manifest and the hidden,
The unseen and the witnessed, the worldly life and the Hereafter,
Death and life,
The past, the present, and the future,
And the world of humanity and the greater universe,
Which includes both the living and the non-living.
