Still they turn not in repentance, neither pay they heed.” (9:126) 00:02:08.620 --> 00:02:12.620 ◁ Truly to Allah we belong, and truly to Him we shall return. ▷ 00:02:12.620 --> 00:02:16.169 And we say nothing except what pleases our Lord. 00:02:16.169 --> 00:02:20.169 The preachers, my brothers, will ascend the pulpits this Friday 00:02:20.169 --> 00:02:24.169 to tell us that the duty of the moment is supplication. 00:02:24.169 --> 00:02:26.169 And I agree with them on that. 00:02:26.169 --> 00:02:28.169 But on this Friday, 00:02:28.169 --> 00:02:32.169 I want to establish the premise of supplication and one of its true outcomes. 00:02:32.169 --> 00:02:35.169 Gentlemen, let us agree 00:02:35.169 --> 00:02:39.169 that there is a deficiency among the shortcomings in our practice of religion: 00:02:39.169 --> 00:02:43.169 it is a deficiency in feeling for the cause and for our people. 00:02:43.169 --> 00:02:46.169 Today, I call upon myself and you 00:02:46.169 --> 00:02:51.169 to evaluate ourselves against the standard set by the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, 00:02:51.169 --> 00:02:55.169 when he said: "The example of the believers in their mutual love, 00:02:55.169 --> 00:02:57.169 mercy, and compassion 00:02:57.169 --> 00:03:01.169 is like that of a single body; if one limb suffers, 00:03:01.169 --> 00:03:06.169 the rest of the body responds to it with fever and sleeplessness." 00:03:06.169 --> 00:03:08.169 Measure yourself against this standard: 00:03:08.169 --> 00:03:12.169 to the extent that your feeling is diminished, your faith has been diminished, 00:03:12.169 --> 00:03:15.169 because the premise inevitably yields the result. 00:03:15.169 --> 00:03:18.490 The Prophet, peace be upon him, says: 00:03:18.490 --> 00:03:21.490 "The blood of all Muslims is equal; 00:03:21.490 --> 00:03:24.490 the asylum granted by the humblest among them is honored by all, 00:03:24.490 --> 00:03:27.490 and they are a single hand against all others." 00:03:27.490 --> 00:03:29.490 I ask myself and you: 00:03:29.490 --> 00:03:32.490 what has changed since we saw the atrocities 00:03:32.490 --> 00:03:36.490 and heard the groans, the agony, and the pain? 00:03:36.490 --> 00:03:39.490 The images of those whose bodies were charred, 00:03:39.490 --> 00:03:42.490 whose limbs were torn apart, whose bellies were ripped open, 00:03:42.490 --> 00:03:46.490 and whose homes, mosques, and places of worship were demolished? 00:03:46.490 --> 00:03:49.490 What has changed in your daily routine today? 00:03:49.490 --> 00:03:51.490 Did you suffer sleeplessness? 00:03:51.490 --> 00:03:55.349 Did you skip your lunch or dinner? 00:03:55.349 --> 00:03:59.349 Did tears stream down your cheeks? 00:03:59.349 --> 00:04:02.349 Did anything at all change in your daily life? 00:04:02.349 --> 00:04:05.349 As long as that does not happen, we remain wanting 00:04:05.349 --> 00:04:08.349 in this essential premise that later produces 00:04:08.349 --> 00:04:11.349 the result: sincere supplication, selfless giving, and so forth. 00:04:11.349 --> 00:04:15.379 Let me take you, gentlemen, 00:04:15.379 --> 00:04:18.379 back to the Master of Mankind, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and his family. 00:04:18.379 --> 00:04:20.379 There he was in his city, 00:04:20.379 --> 00:04:24.379 when news reached him that seventy of his Companions—the Qur'an reciters— 00:04:24.379 --> 00:04:27.379 were slaughtered to the very last man at the Well of Ma'unah. 00:04:27.379 --> 00:04:29.379 The Bedouin tribes had betrayed them 00:04:29.379 --> 00:04:33.379 and murdered the Companions of the Prophet, peace be upon him. 00:04:33.379 --> 00:04:37.379 The Companions of the Prophet testified regarding the Messenger of Allah, saying: 00:04:37.379 --> 00:04:40.379 "The Prophet, peace be upon him, was never seen 00:04:40.379 --> 00:04:43.379 in a state more distressed than on that day." 00:04:43.379 --> 00:04:46.379 His noble face, peace be upon him, altered in color, 00:04:46.379 --> 00:04:48.379 tears flowed down his cheeks, 00:04:48.379 --> 00:04:51.379 and he hastened to prayer, peace be upon him, 00:04:51.379 --> 00:04:55.379 supplicating against the tribes of Ri'l and Dhakwan for an entire month. 00:04:55.379 --> 00:04:59.819 We want to emulate what the Prophet, peace be upon him, did. 00:04:59.819 --> 00:05:03.819 Truly to Allah we belong, and truly to Him we shall return. 00:05:03.819 --> 00:05:05.819 O Allah, reward us in our afflictions 00:05:05.819 --> 00:05:07.819 and grant us better in their stead. 00:05:07.819 --> 00:05:09.819 May Allah bless me and you through the Glorious Qur'an, 00:05:09.819 --> 00:05:12.819 and benefit me and you through its verses, admonitions, 00:05:12.819 --> 00:05:14.819 and Wise Reminder. 00:05:14.819 --> 00:05:18.560 I say what you have heard, and I add no more. 00:05:18.560 --> 00:05:21.560 I say what you have heard, and I seek the forgiveness of Allah for myself and for you from every sin; 00:05:21.560 --> 00:05:24.560 so seek His forgiveness, for successful indeed are those who seek forgiveness. 00:05:24.560 --> 00:05:40.379 Praise be to Allah for His favors, 00:05:40.379 --> 00:05:42.379 and thanks be to Him for His guidance and grace. 00:05:42.379 --> 00:05:45.379 There is no god but Allah, in veneration of His majesty, 00:05:45.379 --> 00:05:47.379 and may Allah send blessings, peace, and grace 00:05:47.379 --> 00:05:49.379 upon our master Muhammad, 00:05:49.379 --> 00:05:53.379 and upon his family, his Companions, and his brethren. To proceed: 00:05:53.379 --> 00:05:57.600 If our hearts are truly stirred with emotion, gentlemen, 00:05:57.600 --> 00:06:00.600 we will reach the state of desperate need in supplication, 00:06:00.600 --> 00:06:06.790 which is among the greatest keys to the heavens and to having prayers answered. 00:06:06.790 --> 00:06:08.790 The Truth, Exalted be His praise, said: 00:06:08.790 --> 00:06:11.790 ◁ Is not He [best] who responds to the desperate one when he calls upon Him ▷ 00:06:11.790 --> 00:06:13.790 ◁ and removes evil...? ▷ 00:06:13.790 --> 00:06:17.389 The supplication that they spoke of 00:06:17.389 --> 00:06:20.389 is the least form of giving, 00:06:20.389 --> 00:06:22.389 despite the immense power of prayer. 00:06:22.389 --> 00:06:25.319 I ask some people, 00:06:25.319 --> 00:06:28.699 "What have you done regarding this supplication?" 00:06:28.699 --> 00:06:31.699 And some reply, "By Allah, I pray whenever I remember, 00:06:31.699 --> 00:06:33.699 and sometimes I forget." 00:06:33.699 --> 00:06:36.699 No, this is neither what is intended nor what is required! 00:06:36.699 --> 00:06:40.699 What is intended, gentlemen, is that we dedicate this Friday, 00:06:40.699 --> 00:06:43.699 during its hour in which prayers are answered, 00:06:43.699 --> 00:06:46.699 from the 'Asr prayer until the Maghrib call to prayer, 00:06:46.699 --> 00:06:47.699 in supplication for our brothers and sisters. 00:06:47.699 --> 00:06:50.699 What is intended is that we set our alarms 00:06:50.699 --> 00:06:52.699 for the last third of the night, 00:06:52.699 --> 00:06:55.699 during the hour in which Allah, Mighty and Majestic, never turns away a petitioner, 00:06:55.699 --> 00:06:57.699 and ask Allah, the Blessed and Exalted. 00:06:57.699 --> 00:07:01.699 What is intended is that we say our brief words of glorification in prostration quickly 00:07:01.699 --> 00:07:03.699 so that we may devote an extended period of time 00:07:03.699 --> 00:07:05.699 to praying for our brothers and sisters, 00:07:05.699 --> 00:07:08.699 showing our Lord, Glorified and Exalted be He, 00:07:08.699 --> 00:07:12.699 that in this simple means available to us, 00:07:12.699 --> 00:07:17.089 we have exerted our utmost capacity and strength. 00:07:17.089 --> 00:07:19.279 O Allah, we turn to You, 00:07:19.279 --> 00:07:21.279 we ask of You, and we place our hope in You, 00:07:21.279 --> 00:07:24.279 fully believing that You are the All-Hearing, the Near, the Responsive, 00:07:24.279 --> 00:07:25.279 from Whom nothing is hidden, 00:07:25.279 --> 00:07:27.279 and from Whom nothing escapes. 00:07:27.279 --> 00:07:28.279 “Say: Shall I seek another than Allah for Lord, when He is Lord of all things? O Allah! 00:08:07.279 --> 00:08:09.279 O Responder to the desperate, 00:08:09.279 --> 00:08:10.279 O Lover of those who plead persistently, 00:08:10.279 --> 00:08:12.279 O Hearer of those who call upon You, 00:08:12.279 --> 00:08:14.279 O Responder to the groans of the weeping! 00:08:14.279 --> 00:08:16.279 We ask You by Your Most Beautiful Names 00:08:16.279 --> 00:08:18.279 and Your Exalted Attributes; 00:08:18.279 --> 00:08:21.279 we ask You by the most beloved of Your Names to You, 00:08:21.279 --> 00:08:23.279 and the quickest among them to be answered by You. 00:08:23.279 --> 00:08:26.279 O Allah! O Allah!
