In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. *The Abridgment of the Prophetic Biography (Seerah)*, Authored by Sheikh Musa ibn Rashid al-Azimi, May Allah preserve him. Treating the Wounds of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). When the battle came to an end, The Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) set about Treating the wounds of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Ibn Hibban recorded in his *Sahih* with a strong chain of transmission On the authority of al-Zubayr ibn al-Awwam (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) commanded Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him), So he went to al-Mihras— Which was a natural water basin at Mount Uhud— And brought him water in his leather shield, Meaning his buckler made of hide. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) intended to drink from it, But he detected an unpleasant smell in it and so disliked it, Using it instead to wash the blood from his face, While saying (peace be upon him): "Intense is the wrath of Allah upon whoever caused the face of the Messenger of Allah to bleed." And the two Sheikhs [al-Bukhari and Muslim] recorded in their *Sahih*s On the authority of Sahl ibn Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him), That he was asked about the wound of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) on the day of Uhud, Whereupon he (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "The face of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was wounded, His lower right incisor was broken, And the helmet was crushed upon his head. Fatimah, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah, was washing away the blood, While Ali ibn Abi Talib was pouring water over it using a shield— Meaning a buckler. But when Fatimah saw that the water only increased the bleeding, She took a piece of matting, Burned it until it turned to ashes, And then applied it to the wound, Whereupon the blood ceased flowing." The Muslims Inspecting and Burying Their Martyrs. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and his Companions went down to inspect their slain, And the Messenger of Allah commanded that the martyrs of Uhud be gathered And buried where they fell, Not to be carried back to Medina to be buried there. Abu Dawud recorded in his *Sunan* with an authentic chain of transmission On the authority of Jabir ibn Abdillah (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said: "We had carried our slain on the day of Uhud to bury them [in Medina], When the caller of the Prophet (peace be upon him) came and said: 'The Messenger of Allah commands you to bury the slain where they fell.' So we brought them back." In the narration of Imam al-Tirmidhi in his *Jami'* with an authentic chain, Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "On the day of Uhud, my paternal aunt brought my father to bury him in our family graveyard, But the caller of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) announced: 'Return the slain to their resting places!'" The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) also commanded That two or three men be buried together in a single grave, The reason being That they were exhausted and unable to dig individual graves Because of the wounds they had suffered. Abu Dawud recorded in his *Sunan*, And al-Tirmidhi in his *Jami'* with an authentic chain— The wording being that of Abu Dawud— On the authority of Hisham ibn Amir (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said: "The Ansar came to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) on the day of Uhud and said: 'We have suffered wounds and great exhaustion, So what do you instruct us to do?' The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'Dig, make the graves spacious, And place two or three in a single grave.' It was asked, 'Which of them should be placed first?' The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) replied: 'The one who knew the most Qur'an.' Hisham said: 'My father, Amir, was slain that day and placed alongside two others,' Or he said, 'one other.'" And in the wording of Imam al-Tirmidhi, Hisham said: "My father died, And he was placed first ahead of two other men." Imam al-Bukhari recorded in his *Sahih* On the authority of Jabir ibn Abdillah (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said: "The Prophet (peace be upon him) would shroud two men from among the slain of Uhud in a single garment, Then he would ask: 'Which of them had acquired more of the Qur'an?' Whenever one of them was pointed out to him, He would place him first into the niche of the grave (lahd)." Imam Ibn al-Qayyim said: "The Sunnah regarding martyrs Is that they are buried where they fell, And are not transported to any other place." The Virtue of the Martyrs of Uhud. Imam al-Bukhari recorded in his *Sahih* On the authority of Jabir ibn Abdillah (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'I am a witness over these [martyrs].'" Imam Ahmad recorded in his *Musnad* with a good chain of transmission On the authority of Jabir ibn Abdillah (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say, Whenever the companions of Uhud were mentioned: 'By Allah, I wish I had been left behind with the companions at the foot of the mountain'— Meaning the base of the mountain." Imam Ahmad recorded in his *Musnad*, As well as Abu Dawud and al-Hakim, with a good chain of transmission, On the authority of Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'When your brothers were slain at Uhud, Allah placed their souls inside green birds That drink from the rivers of Paradise, Eat from its fruits, And shelter in golden lamps suspended in the shade of the Throne. When they experienced the delight of their food, drink, and resting places, They said: Who will convey to our brothers on our behalf That we are alive in Paradise, being sustained, So that they do not renounce jihad Nor falter in the face of battle? Thereupon Allah Almighty said: I shall convey it to them on your behalf.' He said: 'So Allah, Mighty and Majestic is He, revealed:'" “Think not of those, who are slain in the way of Allah, as dead. Nay, they are living. With their Lord they have provision.” (3:169) “Think not of those, who are slain in the way of Allah, as dead. Nay, they are living. With their Lord they have provision.” (3:169) Al-Hafiz Ibn Kathir said: "As for the souls of the martyrs, They reside inside the crops of green birds, Being like brilliant stars in comparison to the souls of the general believers, Which fly freely by themselves." We ask Allah, the Generous, the Bestower of all grace, To keep us firm upon faith. *The Abridgment of the Prophetic Biography (Seerah)*.
