A summary of the concepts held by the Ahl al-Sunnah.
The general distraction.
There are many distractions that lead one away from the path to Allah.
The first and most encompassing of these is:
Negligence regarding the Hereafter and the path that leads to it.
The root of negligence regarding a thing is:
To abandon it out of heedlessness and forgetfulness.
It also encompasses neglecting a thing and turning away from it.
Allah the Exalted says:
“I shall turn away from My revelations those who magnify themselves wrongfully in the earth, and if they see each token believe it not, and if they see the way of righteousness choose it nor for (their) way, and if they see the way of error choose if for (their) way. That is because they deny Our revelations and are used to disregard them.” (7:146)

Meaning, those who turn away.
And He, the Exalted, says:
“Their reckoning draweth nigh for mankind, while they turn away in heedlessness.” (21:1)
