WEBVTT 00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:05.089 In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. 00:00:05.089 --> 00:00:09.089 It is Paradise. 00:00:09.089 --> 00:00:21.219 The vision of Allah, the Exalted, in Paradise. 00:00:21.219 --> 00:00:27.219 Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. 00:00:27.219 --> 00:00:30.219 And may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad. 00:00:30.219 --> 00:00:34.219 And upon all his family and companions, and thereafter: 00:00:34.219 --> 00:00:37.509 O people of Paradise! 00:00:37.509 --> 00:00:40.509 We have wandered together through the gardens of Paradise. 00:00:40.509 --> 00:00:44.509 And we have learned of the everlasting bliss contained therein, 00:00:44.509 --> 00:00:48.509 Which Allah has prepared for His righteous allies. 00:00:48.509 --> 00:00:52.640 Yet, place all that has passed on one side of the scale, 00:00:52.640 --> 00:00:55.640 And what I am about to tell you now, 00:00:55.640 --> 00:00:59.409 Place it on the other. 00:00:59.409 --> 00:01:02.409 Our discussion now is about the greatest and most perfect bliss, 00:01:02.409 --> 00:01:05.409 A bliss that, once its sweetness is tasted, 00:01:05.409 --> 00:01:08.409 Makes one forget every other delight in Paradise. 00:01:08.409 --> 00:01:11.500 For no one in Paradise has been given 00:01:11.500 --> 00:01:14.500 Anything greater than this bliss. 00:01:14.500 --> 00:01:17.500 It is none other than gazing upon the Face of Allah, the Exalted and Generous, 00:01:17.500 --> 00:01:20.500 And hearing His speech, 00:01:20.500 --> 00:01:23.500 And the coolness of the eyes in being near to Him. 00:01:23.500 --> 00:01:26.659 For every pleasure in this world and the Hereafter 00:01:26.659 --> 00:01:29.659 Does not compare in the slightest 00:01:29.659 --> 00:01:32.700 To this pleasure, ever. 00:01:32.700 --> 00:01:35.700 Even the smallest, most trivial portion of His pleasure, the Exalted, 00:01:35.700 --> 00:01:38.700 Is greater than the Gardens and all they contain, 00:01:38.700 --> 00:01:41.790 Just as our Lord, the Exalted, has informed us 00:01:41.790 --> 00:01:44.790 Himself, saying: 00:01:44.790 --> 00:01:47.790 “Allah promiseth to the believers, men and women, Gardens underneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide - blessed dwellings in Gardens of Eden. And - greater (far)! - acceptance from Allah. That is the supreme triumph.” (9:72) 00:01:47.790 --> 00:01:51.140 And the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, informed us, 00:01:51.140 --> 00:01:54.140 Saying that He, glory be to Him, 00:01:54.140 --> 00:01:57.140 When He manifests, 00:01:57.140 --> 00:02:00.140 And they see His Face clearly, 00:02:00.140 --> 00:02:03.140 They will forget all the bliss they are in. 00:02:04.140 --> 00:02:07.620 Our Lord, 00:02:07.620 --> 00:02:10.620 Who created us from nothingness, 00:02:10.620 --> 00:02:13.620 And provided us with blessings, 00:02:13.620 --> 00:02:16.620 And protected us in this world of hardship, 00:02:16.620 --> 00:02:19.620 And sustained us without any power or strength of our own, 00:02:19.620 --> 00:02:22.689 Our Lord, to whom we have long turned, 00:02:22.689 --> 00:02:25.689 And He sheltered us, 00:02:25.689 --> 00:02:28.689 And we sought Him, and He gave us, 00:02:28.689 --> 00:02:31.689 And we hoped in Him, and He did not disappoint our hope. 00:02:31.689 --> 00:02:34.879 Our Lord, whom we worshipped and prayed to, 00:02:34.879 --> 00:02:37.879 And for whom we made our religion sincere. 00:02:37.879 --> 00:02:41.009 Our Lord, who said—how we have longed to see Him 00:02:41.009 --> 00:02:44.009 And hear His speech! 00:02:44.009 --> 00:02:47.169 Now, in Paradise, 00:02:47.169 --> 00:02:50.969 We shall see our Lord, O my companions. 00:02:50.969 --> 00:02:53.969 When we enter Paradise, 00:02:53.969 --> 00:02:56.969 We shall attain the great vision therein, 00:02:56.969 --> 00:02:59.969 The vision that is the greatest of all visions, 00:03:00.969 --> 00:03:03.969 And the goal toward which those who strive 00:03:03.969 --> 00:03:06.969 Have striven, 00:03:06.969 --> 00:03:09.969 And for which the competitors have competed, 00:03:09.969 --> 00:03:12.969 And of which those who are veiled from their Lord are deprived, 00:03:12.969 --> 00:03:15.969 And from His door are turned away. 00:03:15.969 --> 00:03:19.319 Some people asked, saying: 00:03:19.319 --> 00:03:22.319 "O Messenger of Allah, 00:03:22.319 --> 00:03:25.349 Shall we see our Lord on the Day of Resurrection?" 00:03:25.349 --> 00:03:28.349 He, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: 00:03:28.349 --> 00:03:31.349 "Do you have any doubt in seeing the moon on the night of the full moon, 00:03:31.349 --> 00:03:34.349 When there is no cloud obscuring it?" 00:03:34.349 --> 00:03:37.419 They said, "No, O Messenger of Allah." 00:03:37.419 --> 00:03:40.419 He said, "Do you doubt the sun, 00:03:40.419 --> 00:03:43.419 When there is no cloud obscuring it?" 00:03:43.419 --> 00:03:46.419 They said, "No." He said, 00:03:46.419 --> 00:03:49.610 "Then you shall see Him likewise." 00:03:49.610 --> 00:03:52.610 And the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, informed us, 00:03:52.610 --> 00:03:55.639 Saying: "When the people of Paradise enter, 00:03:55.639 --> 00:03:58.639 Allah, Blessed and Exalted be He, will say: 00:03:58.639 --> 00:04:01.639 'Do you wish for anything more that I may increase for you?' 00:04:01.639 --> 00:04:04.639 They will say: 00:04:04.639 --> 00:04:07.639 'Has He not brightened our faces? 00:04:07.639 --> 00:04:10.639 Has He not admitted us to Paradise, 00:04:10.639 --> 00:04:13.639 And saved us from the Fire?' 00:04:13.639 --> 00:04:16.639 Then the veil will be lifted, 00:04:16.639 --> 00:04:19.639 And they will not have been given anything dearer to them 00:04:19.639 --> 00:04:22.639 Than gazing upon their Lord, the Almighty and Majestic." 00:04:23.639 --> 00:04:26.670 “For those who do good is the best (reward) and more (thereto). Neither dust nor ignominy cometh near their faces. Such are rightful owners of the Garden; they will abide therein.” (10:26) 00:04:26.670 --> 00:04:29.670 "No darkness or humiliation will cover their faces." 00:04:29.670 --> 00:04:32.670 (This refers to the believers). 00:04:32.670 --> 00:04:35.670 Those are the people of Paradise, 00:04:35.670 --> 00:04:39.310 They will abide therein forever. 00:04:42.310 --> 00:04:45.889 And the 'best' (al-husna) in this verse 00:04:45.889 --> 00:04:48.889 Is Paradise, 00:04:48.889 --> 00:04:51.889 And the 'increase' (al-ziyadah) is the gaze upon the Face of the Most Merciful, 00:04:51.889 --> 00:04:54.889 In His majesty and the holiness of His names. 00:04:54.889 --> 00:04:58.079 And there is nothing between the people and seeing their Lord 00:04:58.079 --> 00:05:01.079 Except the mantle of pride 00:05:01.079 --> 00:05:04.079 Upon His Face in the Garden of Eden. 00:05:04.079 --> 00:05:07.589 And along with this vision, 00:05:07.589 --> 00:05:10.589 Our Lord, the Almighty and Majestic, speaks to us, 00:05:10.589 --> 00:05:13.589 With no translator between us and Him. 00:05:13.589 --> 00:05:16.589 How delicious is this speech! 00:05:16.589 --> 00:05:19.689 And oh, the delight of that hearing! 00:05:19.689 --> 00:05:22.689 Yes, we are in Paradise, 00:05:22.689 --> 00:05:25.689 We hear the speech of the angels, 00:05:25.689 --> 00:05:28.689 As they welcome and greet us, 00:05:28.689 --> 00:05:31.689 And we hear the speech of the people of Paradise, 00:05:31.689 --> 00:05:34.689 But our hearing 00:05:34.689 --> 00:05:37.689 Of the speech of Allah and His addressing us 00:05:37.689 --> 00:05:40.689 Is more delicious, more delightful, 00:05:40.689 --> 00:05:43.850 And greater and sweeter to our souls. 00:05:43.850 --> 00:05:46.850 And this speech, as Allah, the Exalted, described it: 00:05:47.850 --> 00:05:50.980 “The word from a Merciful Lord (for them) is: Peace!” (36:58) 00:05:50.980 --> 00:05:53.980 The Exalted says: 00:05:53.980 --> 00:05:57.649 "O people of Paradise!" 00:05:57.649 --> 00:06:00.740 And they will say: 00:06:00.740 --> 00:06:03.740 "At Your service, our Lord, and at Your command, 00:06:03.740 --> 00:06:06.870 And all good is in Your hands." 00:06:06.870 --> 00:06:09.870 He will say: "Are you satisfied?" 00:06:09.870 --> 00:06:12.870 They will say: "And why should we 00:06:12.870 --> 00:06:15.870 Not be satisfied, O Lord, 00:06:15.870 --> 00:06:19.000 When You have not given anyone among Your creation [what You have given us]?" 00:06:19.000 --> 00:06:22.000 He will say: "Shall I not give you 00:06:22.000 --> 00:06:25.000 Something better than that?" 00:06:25.000 --> 00:06:28.000 They will say: "O Lord, 00:06:28.000 --> 00:06:31.000 And what thing is better than that?" 00:06:31.000 --> 00:06:34.000 He will say: "I bestow upon you 00:06:34.000 --> 00:06:37.000 My pleasure, so I shall never be angry with you 00:06:37.000 --> 00:06:40.350 After it, ever." 00:06:40.350 --> 00:06:43.449 What do you think of our state on that day, 00:06:43.449 --> 00:06:46.449 When our faces are radiant with splendor and beauty, 00:06:46.449 --> 00:06:49.509 And majesty and glory? 00:06:49.509 --> 00:06:52.509 Did Allah, the Exalted, not say: 00:06:52.509 --> 00:06:55.509 "Faces, that Day, will be radiant, 00:06:55.509 --> 00:06:58.509 Looking toward their Lord"? 00:06:58.509 --> 00:07:01.930 The caller will call out: 00:07:01.930 --> 00:07:04.959 "O people of Paradise, your Lord, 00:07:04.959 --> 00:07:07.959 Blessed and Exalted be He, invites you to visit Him, 00:07:07.959 --> 00:07:11.060 So come to His visitation." 00:07:11.060 --> 00:07:14.060 And we will say: "We hear and we obey," 00:07:14.060 --> 00:07:17.060 And we will rise to the visitation, hastening. 00:07:17.060 --> 00:07:20.060 And there, the wonders of the mounts 00:07:20.060 --> 00:07:23.060 Have been prepared for us, 00:07:23.060 --> 00:07:26.060 So we mount their backs, hurrying, 00:07:26.060 --> 00:07:29.060 Until we reach the spacious valley 00:07:29.060 --> 00:07:32.060 For which He has set us an appointment, 00:07:32.060 --> 00:07:35.060 And we gather there, 00:07:35.060 --> 00:07:38.060 And the caller will not leave anyone behind. 00:07:38.060 --> 00:07:41.310 The Lord, Blessed and Exalted be He, will command 00:07:41.310 --> 00:07:44.310 His Throne to be set up there, 00:07:44.310 --> 00:07:47.439 Then pulpits of light will be set up for us, 00:07:47.439 --> 00:07:50.439 And pulpits of pearl, 00:07:50.439 --> 00:07:53.439 And pulpits of chrysolite, 00:07:53.439 --> 00:07:56.439 And pulpits of gold, 00:07:56.439 --> 00:07:59.569 And pulpits of silver. 00:07:59.569 --> 00:08:02.569 And the lowest of us— 00:08:02.569 --> 00:08:05.569 Though there is no one among us who is truly 'low'—will sit upon mounds of musk. 00:08:06.569 --> 00:08:09.660 Until our seats are settled, 00:08:09.660 --> 00:08:12.660 And our places are secured, 00:08:12.660 --> 00:08:15.660 The caller will call out: 00:08:15.660 --> 00:08:18.660 "O people of Paradise, 00:08:18.660 --> 00:08:21.660 You have an appointment with Allah, 00:08:21.660 --> 00:08:24.660 Which He wishes to fulfill for you." 00:08:24.660 --> 00:08:27.819 We will say: "And what is it? 00:08:27.819 --> 00:08:30.819 Has He not brightened our faces, 00:08:30.819 --> 00:08:33.820 And weighed our scales, 00:08:34.820 --> 00:08:37.950 And moved us away from the Fire?" 00:08:37.950 --> 00:08:40.950 While we are in that state, 00:08:40.950 --> 00:08:43.950 A light will shine forth for which Paradise will glow, 00:08:43.950 --> 00:08:46.950 And we will raise our heads, 00:08:46.950 --> 00:08:49.950 And there is the Compeller, glory be to His majesty, 00:08:49.950 --> 00:08:52.950 And the holiness of His names, 00:08:52.950 --> 00:08:55.950 Having appeared to us from above. 00:08:55.950 --> 00:08:58.950 And He will say: "O people of Paradise, 00:08:58.950 --> 00:09:02.210 Peace be upon you." 00:09:02.210 --> 00:09:05.210 We will return this greeting 00:09:05.210 --> 00:09:08.340 With something better than our own words: 00:09:08.340 --> 00:09:11.340 "O Allah, You are Peace, 00:09:11.340 --> 00:09:14.340 And from You is peace, 00:09:14.340 --> 00:09:17.559 Blessed are You, O Possessor of Majesty and Honor." 00:09:17.559 --> 00:09:20.559 Then our Lord, Blessed and Exalted be He, will manifest to us, 00:09:20.559 --> 00:09:23.559 Laughing at us, 00:09:23.559 --> 00:09:26.590 And He will say: "O people of Paradise, 00:09:26.590 --> 00:09:29.590 Where are My servants who obeyed Me? 00:09:29.590 --> 00:09:32.690 For this is the Day of Increase." 00:09:32.690 --> 00:09:36.009 We will gather on one word: 00:09:36.009 --> 00:09:39.009 "We are pleased, our Lord, 00:09:39.009 --> 00:09:42.009 So be pleased with us." 00:09:42.009 --> 00:09:45.009 He will say: "O people of Paradise, 00:09:45.009 --> 00:09:48.009 If I were not pleased with you, 00:09:48.009 --> 00:09:51.009 I would not have let you dwell in My Paradise. 00:09:51.009 --> 00:09:54.070 This is the Day of Increase, 00:09:54.070 --> 00:09:57.230 So ask of Me." 00:09:57.230 --> 00:10:00.259 Not one thing, but: 00:10:00.259 --> 00:10:03.519 "Show us Your Face, that we may look upon You." 00:10:03.519 --> 00:10:06.519 Then our Lord, glory be to His majesty, will lift the veils, 00:10:06.519 --> 00:10:09.580 And manifest to us, 00:10:09.580 --> 00:10:12.580 And there will cover us of His light 00:10:12.580 --> 00:10:15.580 That, had Allah not decreed 00:10:15.580 --> 00:10:18.740 That we should not burn, we would have burned. 00:10:18.740 --> 00:10:21.740 And there will not remain in that gathering 00:10:21.740 --> 00:10:24.740 Anyone among us but that He will address him, 00:10:24.740 --> 00:10:27.899 To the point that He will say: 00:10:27.899 --> 00:10:30.899 "O so-and-so, do you remember 00:10:30.899 --> 00:10:33.899 The day you did such-and-such?" 00:10:33.899 --> 00:10:36.899 Reminding him of some of his transgressions 00:10:36.899 --> 00:10:40.029 In the world. 00:10:40.029 --> 00:10:43.029 The servant will say: "O my Lord, 00:10:43.029 --> 00:10:46.029 "Did You not forgive me?" He will reply, "Indeed, 00:10:46.029 --> 00:10:49.029 by My forgiveness you have attained your station." 00:10:49.029 --> 00:10:52.379 This is the day 00:10:53.740 --> 00:10:56.740 wherein they shall have whatever they desire, 00:10:56.740 --> 00:10:59.740 and with Us is more, 00:10:59.740 --> 00:11:03.470 and they shall see Him, 00:11:03.470 --> 00:11:06.470 glorified is He, from above them, 00:11:06.470 --> 00:11:09.470 a clear vision, just as one sees the two celestial bodies. 00:11:09.470 --> 00:11:12.470 This is the "more" 00:11:12.470 --> 00:11:15.470 that has been mentioned in Surah Yunus, 00:11:15.470 --> 00:11:18.500 in the Tafsir of the one who brought the Qur'an, 00:11:18.500 --> 00:11:21.500 and it is the "more" as well. 00:11:21.500 --> 00:11:24.500 Abu Bakr is the Truthful One (al-Siddiq), 00:11:24.500 --> 00:11:27.629 the possessor of certainty, 00:11:27.629 --> 00:11:30.629 to Allah belongs that understanding; 00:11:30.629 --> 00:11:33.759 He grants it to whom 00:11:33.759 --> 00:11:36.759 He deems worthy, from among those who excel in goodness. 00:11:36.759 --> 00:11:39.759 Amidst their life, 00:11:39.759 --> 00:11:42.759 their joy, and their bliss, 00:11:42.759 --> 00:11:45.759 in delight and celebration, 00:11:45.759 --> 00:11:48.759 suddenly there will be a radiant light. 00:11:48.759 --> 00:11:51.759 They will raise their heads toward it, 00:11:51.759 --> 00:11:54.759 and they will see the light of the Lord, 00:11:54.759 --> 00:11:57.789 which is hidden from no human being. 00:11:57.789 --> 00:12:00.789 And there is their Lord, Exalted is He, 00:12:00.789 --> 00:12:03.789 above them, having come to greet them 00:12:03.789 --> 00:12:06.820 with benevolence. 00:12:06.820 --> 00:12:09.820 He will say, "Peace be upon you." 00:12:09.820 --> 00:12:12.950 They will see Him clearly, Exalted is He, 00:12:12.950 --> 00:12:15.950 the Lord, the Possessor of Majesty. 00:12:15.950 --> 00:12:18.950 A caller from the Garden of Eternal Life will signal, 00:12:18.950 --> 00:12:22.049 "O people of the Garden, 00:12:22.049 --> 00:12:25.049 you have a promise from the Most Merciful, 00:12:25.049 --> 00:12:28.049 and He is the One who fulfills it for you with a guarantee." 00:12:28.049 --> 00:12:31.049 They will say, "Have our faces not been whitened? 00:12:31.049 --> 00:12:34.049 Have our deeds not been weighed 00:12:34.049 --> 00:12:37.179 in the balance? 00:12:37.179 --> 00:12:40.179 And have You not admitted us into the Gardens, 00:12:40.179 --> 00:12:43.399 when You saved us from the entrance of the Fire?" 00:12:43.399 --> 00:12:46.399 He will say, "I have a promise with Me, 00:12:46.399 --> 00:12:49.399 the time has come for Me to grant it to you, 00:12:49.399 --> 00:12:52.559 out of My mercy and tenderness." 00:12:52.559 --> 00:12:55.559 Then they will see Him, after the lifting of His veil, 00:12:55.559 --> 00:12:58.690 clearly, as narrated by Muslim with clarity. 00:12:58.690 --> 00:13:01.690 By Allah, were it not for the vision of the Most Merciful 00:13:01.690 --> 00:13:04.690 in the Gardens, there would be no delight 00:13:04.690 --> 00:13:07.720 for those of true knowledge. 00:13:07.720 --> 00:13:10.720 The highest bliss is the vision of His Face, 00:13:11.720 --> 00:13:14.850 and the most severe thing in the punishment 00:13:14.850 --> 00:13:17.850 is His veil, glorified is He, from the inhabitants 00:13:17.850 --> 00:13:21.230 of the Fire. 00:13:27.230 --> 00:13:30.519 When He withdraws from them, 00:13:30.519 --> 00:13:33.519 they return to their pleasures 00:13:33.519 --> 00:13:36.779 of every kind. 00:13:36.779 --> 00:13:39.779 For they have bliss upon seeing Him, 00:13:40.779 --> 00:13:43.970 and how excellent are both matters. 00:13:43.970 --> 00:13:46.970 By Allah, there is nothing in this world 00:13:46.970 --> 00:13:49.970 more delightful than the servant's longing for the Most Merciful. 00:13:49.970 --> 00:13:53.100 And likewise, the vision of His Face, 00:13:53.100 --> 00:13:56.100 glorified is He, is the most perfect 00:13:56.100 --> 00:13:59.220 of all human delights. 00:13:59.220 --> 00:14:02.220 Do you not know that He, glorified is He, 00:14:02.220 --> 00:14:05.220 truly speaks to His party in the Gardens? 00:14:05.220 --> 00:14:08.220 He will say, Majestic is His Majesty, 00:14:09.220 --> 00:14:12.220 "Are you satisfied?" 00:14:12.220 --> 00:14:15.419 They will say, "We are possessors of contentment. 00:14:15.419 --> 00:14:18.419 How could we not be satisfied, 00:14:18.419 --> 00:14:21.480 when You have given us 00:14:21.480 --> 00:14:24.480 what no human has ever attained?" 00:14:24.480 --> 00:14:27.480 "Is there anything beyond this 00:14:27.480 --> 00:14:30.480 that would be better than it?" 00:14:30.480 --> 00:14:33.480 We ask Him, the Bestower of Bounties. 00:14:33.480 --> 00:14:36.539 He will say, "Better than it is My contentment." 00:14:36.539 --> 00:14:39.539 The Most Merciful will remind each of them of what 00:14:39.539 --> 00:14:42.539 had transpired from him in past times, 00:14:42.539 --> 00:14:45.539 from Him to him; 00:14:45.539 --> 00:14:48.539 there is no intermediary. 00:14:48.539 --> 00:14:51.539 That is not a rebuke from the Most Merciful, 00:14:51.539 --> 00:14:54.539 but rather, the one who has attained it recognizes it 00:14:54.539 --> 00:14:57.539 as coming from His grace, forgiveness, and benevolence. 00:14:57.539 --> 00:15:01.220 O Allah, we 00:15:01.220 --> 00:15:04.220 ask You for Paradise, 00:15:04.220 --> 00:15:07.220 such as the highest Firdaws, 00:15:07.220 --> 00:15:10.220 without reckoning or punishment. 00:15:10.220 --> 00:15:13.279 O Allah, Amen. 00:15:13.279 --> 00:15:16.919 And the journey has a remainder; 00:15:16.919 --> 00:15:23.220 it is Paradise.
