A man from Banu Shaybana went out with his daughters in a barren year
So Al-Hira brought them down close to her kingdom so that they might benefit from his goodness
He swore that he would not return to them until he achieved good for them or he would die
He provided himself with provisions and then walked for seven days until he reached our great tent
He said to himself, “Wait at this tent, perhaps I might catch something from them.”
So he sat behind the tent when the sun was about to set
He saw me coming on a horse with a hundred camels and their stallions
The stallion was blessed and the camels were around him
So we waited until we ate and drank, then we slept
So the man got up to the stallion, unhitched it, and mounted it
He rushed with him and the camels followed him
So he walked all night until the morning
When the day came, I realized it
So the man got off his camel, came to his senses, and said to me in a loud voice
I left behind daughters that I swore never to return to
Until I win them good or I die
I told him that you are dead
Then I shot the camel's head with an arrow from afar and hit it
When the man saw this from me, he confided in me
So I took his sword and bow from him, then put him behind me
Then I told him: If these camels were mine, I would hand them over to you
But she is the sheikh's daughter
So stay with me, for I am about to be attacked
He stayed for a few days, then attacked a group of people and captured one hundred camels from them
So I gave it all to him and he went to his family
When she heard about Islam, she traveled to Medina
I met the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, delivering a sermon on the pulpit
So I entered the mosque and pronounced the two Shahadas
He, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “Who are you?”
I said, “I am so-and-so known for goodness.”
He, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “Rather, you are known for your goodness.”
Praise be to God who brought you from your plains and mountains
Soften your heart for Islam
Then he, may God bless him and grant him peace, took me to his house
He pushed me to a recliner
So I was ashamed to lean in front of him
I returned it to him and he returned it to me
So I returned it to him and he returned it to me three times
Then he said: No man has ever described it to me and I saw him
Except it was less than what was described
Except you, for you are above what was said about you
So I said, O Messenger of God
Give me three hundred knights
I will guarantee you that I will invade the Roman lands with them
And I am one of them
The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, magnified my concern
And he said, “God knows what kind of man you are.”
I stayed in Medina for seven days after I converted to Islam
I had a fever
So I wished to meet my people
And may God write Islam for them at my hands
So I went to them
But I realized my destiny
My soul was overflowing on the way
