As for talking about goodness, it is like studying knowledge
And stories of righteous people and noble morals
And talking to a guest, a person seeking a need, and the like
There is nothing disliked in it, rather it is desirable
Likewise, the hadith has an excuse and is not objectionable

Heedlessness in prayer is ruined

He would have stood forty
Better for him than to pass through his hands
