The concise commentary on the book *Bitaqat al-Ta'rif*
*bi-Suwar al-Mushaf al-Sharif* (Introductory Profiles of the Surahs of the Noble Qur'an)
By Dr. Muhammad Ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz Ibn 'Umar Nasif,
May Allah preserve him.
Surah An-Nas.
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful, and all praise is due to Allah,
And may peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah.
By the grace of Allah, we are
In the final segment of this concise commentary on these introductory profile cards,
Arriving at Surah An-Nas.
I would like to make three brief points regarding it.
The first point
Pertains to the fact that this surah
Seeks refuge from hidden evils.
Just as there are manifest evils that a person can physically perceive,
There are also unseen, hidden evils
Whose existence we must firmly believe in,
Away from
The myths and exaggerations fabricated by people.
We have the Qur'an and we have the Sunnah,
In which there is clear evidence establishing
Real, hidden evils,
The greatest of which is mentioned
In this surah, namely Satan.
As for the second point,
It relates to the surah containing
A command to seek refuge, just like the preceding surah.
This underscores the profound importance of seeking refuge,
As it is repeated in two consecutive surahs
At the very conclusion of the Mushaf.
This repetition signals the vital necessity
For a person to seek refuge in his Creator, Glorified and Exalted be He.
The third and final point
Is that this surah reminds us
Of the weakness of our enemy—
That enemy who was briefly
Alluded to in Surat Al-Fatihah
Through his misleading of those who went astray
And those who incurred Allah's wrath.
You also see him mentioned explicitly in Surat Al-Baqarah:
"Go down,
Being enemies to one another."
There is no disagreement regarding the Tafsir of "the enemy"
In this particular verse; nevertheless,
Satan is undoubtedly our greatest adversary.
This surah, Surat An-Nas, reminds us
Of the retreating whisperer:
Whenever you remember Allah, Satan withdraws and retreats.
Therefore, let us hold fast to Allah and make Him
Our perpetual refuge, exalted is He in His majesty.
And Allah knows best. May Allah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad,
And upon his family and all his Companions. All praise is due to Allah
For the completion of this commentary,
And I ask Allah to make it blessed and beneficial.
