A new challenge from me
I am one of the companions of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, among the poor immigrants
I am one of the notables of the people of Suffah and one of those who cry whom God excused by His saying
Nor for those who, when they come to you for you to bear, say, “I cannot find anything to bear for you,” so turn away
They turned away with their eyes overflowing with tears, saddened by the fact that they did not have anything to spend on
I used to stay at the door of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, when I was home or traveling
When we were in Tabuk, I went for something I needed
When I returned to the house of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, I found him and his guests having dinner.
When I came up to him, he said, “Where have you been since tonight?” I told him, and two men went out with me, so we were three, all of us hungry
So the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, entered the house and asked for something to eat, but he did not find anything
So he came out to us and called Bilal, O Bilal, is there any dinner for these people?
He said, “No, by the One who sent you with the truth.” He said, “Look, perhaps you will find something.”
So the scab began to shake it off, one by one, and the date and two dates fell until I saw seven dates in front of him, may God bless him and grant him peace.
Then he called for a plate and put the dates in it, then he placed his hand on the dates and said the name of God
He said, “Eat in the name of God.” So we ate, and I counted 54 dates that I had eaten. He prepared them and ate them in the other hand
And two friends, they do what I do. We were satisfied and raised our hands, and the seven dates were as they were
After the death of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, I went to the Levant, striving for the sake of God, ascetic in this world, turning away from it.
Had it not been said that Abu Najih did this and take this as an example to follow, I would have spent all my money in the path of God
Then I went to one of the valleys of Lebanon and worshiped God until I died. Some of the followers came to me and said:
We came to you as visitors, as returnees, and as quotations, so you told us a hadith that you heard from the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace.
I told them that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, led us in the morning prayer one day and then came to us
So he preached to us an eloquent sermon that made eyes shed tears and hearts terrified, and it was said, O Messenger of God, as if it were a farewell sermon.
So what did he pledge to us? He said, “I advise you to fear God, listen, and obey. And if a servant commands against you, then he is the one of you who will live after that.”
He will see a lot of difference, so you should adhere to my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the Rightly Guided Caliphs, and bite on it with your molars.
And beware of newly invented matters, for every newly invented matter is an innovation, and every innovation is a misguidance
One of the princes gave a man a donkey from the spoils before he swore an oath. I said to the man, “It is not yours to take, and it is not his to give you.”
It was as if you were in hell, carrying it on your neck. The man was afraid and returned the donkey to the prince
When I saw the change in people’s conditions and their lenience in rights, I wanted God to take me to Him, so I used to pray
Oh God, I have grown in age and my bones are weak, so take me to You. One day while I was in the Damascus Mosque, I was praying and praying that I would be taken.
I saw one of the most beautiful men wearing a thick green coat, and he said to me, “What is this that you pray with?” I said, “How do I pray, my nephew?”
He said, “Say, ‘Oh God, do good deeds and reach the deadline.’” I said, “How beautiful this is.” Then I turned around and did not find anyone, so who am I?
