In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.
A Concise Summary of the Prophetic biography (Seerah).
Authored by Sheikh Musa bin Rashid al-Azimi.
May Allah preserve him.
The completion of the digging of the Trench.
The Companions, may Allah be pleased with them, finished digging the Trench.
Before the arrival of the Confederates (al-Ahzab).
Imam Ibn al-Qayyim said:
The digging of the Trench took place in front of Mount Sal'.
Mount Sal' was behind the backs of the Muslims.
The Trench was between them and the disbelievers.
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, went out with three thousand Muslims.
He pitched his camp there.
He fortified himself with the mountain behind him.
And the Trench in front of him.
The Messenger of Allah ordered the women and children to be moved.
They were placed in the fortresses of Medina.
Meaning its elevated structures.
Like citadels.
The watchword of the Muslims on that day was:
"Ha-Mim, they shall not be helped."
Imam al-Tirmidhi and Abu Dawud narrated with a sound (sahih) chain of transmission.
The wording belongs to Abu Dawud.
On the authority of al-Muhallab ibn Abi Sufrah, who said:
Someone who heard the Prophet, peace be upon him, say informed me:
"If you are attacked by night, let your watchword be:
'Ha-Mim, they shall not be helped.'"
Ibn Ishaq said:
The watchword of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah on the day of the Trench and Banu Qurayza was:
"Ha-Mim, they shall not be helped."
The arrival of the Confederates and their astonishment at the Trench.
The Confederates reached the outskirts of the Prophetic city.
They were taken by surprise by the Trench.
The Quraysh encamped at the confluence of the valleys of Rumah.
Between al-Jurf and Zughabah.
The Ghatafan arrived.
Until they encamped at the base of Naqma, adjacent to Uhud.
Allah the Exalted said:
“And when the true believers saw the clans, they said: This is that which Allah and His messenger promised us. Allah and His messenger are true. It did but confirm them in their faith and resignation.” (33:22)
Allah and His Messenger spoke the truth.

Al-Hafiz Ibn Kathir said:
Meaning, this is what Allah and His Messenger promised us of trial, testing, and examination.
Which is followed by imminent victory.
That is why He said, "Allah and His Messenger spoke the truth."
The betrayal of the covenant by Banu Qurayza.
The fortresses of Banu Qurayza were located there.
They were a group of Jews in the east of Medina.
They had a covenant and a pledge of protection from the Messenger of Allah.
They numbered nearly four hundred fighters.
And it is said seven hundred.
The enemy of Allah, Huyayy ibn Akhtab al-Nadiri, went to them.
Huyayy ibn Akhtab arrived at the dwellings of Banu Qurayza.
He knocked on the door of Ka'b ibn Asad, the leader of Banu Qurayza.
He knocked on his door.
But he did not grant him permission and refused to meet him.
So Huyayy called out to him:
"Woe to you, O Ka'b, open for me!"
He replied:
"Woe to you, O Huyayy!
You are a man of ill omen.
I have made a covenant with Muhammad.
I will not break what is between him and me.
I have seen nothing from him but fulfillment and truthfulness."
Huyayy continued to speak to him.
Until Ka'b opened his door for him.
Huyayy said:
"I have come to you with the glory of the age.
And a surging sea.
I have come to you with Quraysh, with their leaders and masters.
I have encamped them at the confluence of the valleys of Rumah.
And the Ghatafan, with their leaders and masters.
I have encamped them at the base of Naqma near Uhud.
They have pledged to me and made a pact with me not to depart.
Until we eradicate Muhammad and those with him."
Ka'b said to him:
"By Allah, you have brought me the disgrace of the age.
And a rainless cloud that has poured out its water.
It thunders and lightens.
But there is nothing in it."
The "jaham" is a cloud that has emptied its water.
"Woe to you, O Huyayy!
Leave me to what I am upon.
For I have seen nothing from Muhammad but truthfulness and fulfillment."
But Huyayy did not cease pressing Ka'b.
Persistently coaxing and manipulating him.
The "gharib" is the tip of the spearhead.
It is the spear, and the "dhirwa" is the top.
He meant that he kept deceiving him and being gentle with him.
Until he answered him.
Until he relented to him.
On the condition that he gave him a covenant and a pledge from Allah.
"If Quraysh and the Ghatafan return.
And do not defeat Muhammad.
That I will enter your fortress with you.
Until whatever befalls you befalls me."
So Ka'b ibn Asad broke the covenant.
And dissociated himself from what was between him and the Messenger of Allah.
Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.
The Prophet sent.
Al-Zubayr, may Allah be pleased with him.
To Banu Qurayza.
The Messenger of Allah was not.
Unaware of the movements of Banu Qurayza.
So he sent al-Zubayr ibn al-Awwam, may Allah be pleased with him.
To verify the news of Banu Qurayza.
The two Sheikhs (al-Bukhari and Muslim) narrated in their Sahih collections.
On the authority of Abdullah ibn al-Zubayr, may Allah be pleased with them both.
He said: "I was on the day of the Confederates.
I was placed with Umar ibn Abi Salama.
Among the women, and I looked.
And there I saw al-Zubayr on his horse.
Going back and forth to Banu Qurayza two or three times.
When I returned, I said:
'O my father, I saw you going back and forth.'
He said: 'Did you see me, my son?'
I said: 'Yes.'
He said: 'The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him,
said: "Who will bring me news of Banu Qurayza?"
And bring me their report.
So I set out, and when I returned,
The Messenger of Allah gathered for me.
His parents, and said:
"May my father and mother be sacrificed for you."'"
And in another wording in the two Sahihs.
Jabir ibn Abdullah, may Allah be pleased with them both.
Said the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him.
On the day of the Confederates:
"Who will bring us news of the people?"
Al-Zubayr, may Allah be pleased with him, said: "I will."
Then the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said:
"Who will bring us news of the people?"
Al-Zubayr, may Allah be pleased with him, said:
"I will."
Peace be upon him, "Who will bring us news of the people?" and al-Zubayr, may Allah be pleased with him, said: "I will."
Then the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said: "Every prophet has a disciple (hawari), and
