The Garden of Guidance.
Allah Almighty says:
“We have enjoined on man kindness to parents; but if they strive to make thee join with Me that of which thou hast no knowledge, then obey them not. Unto Me is your return and I shall tell you what ye used to do.” (29:8)

◁ Unto Me is your return, and I will inform you of what you used to do. ▷
On the authority of Asma' bint Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said:
"My mother came to visit me while she was still a polytheist, during the period of the treaty with Quraysh,
when they had made a covenant with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him),
and during the period of her father's pact.
So I sought a verdict from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), saying:
'O Messenger of Allah,
my mother has come to visit me, and she desires to maintain ties with me;
shall I maintain ties with her?'
He replied: 'Yes, maintain ties with your mother.'"
Agreed upon [by al-Bukhari and Muslim].
A key benefit:
Religion calls for maintaining family ties, even if relatives are polytheists.
For noble character is a grand edifice,
which our truthful and trustworthy Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to complete.
And this is the most eloquent rebuttal to those who accuse this upright religion of violence and terrorism.
Will we then commit to and hold fast to maintaining our kinship ties,
so that our response becomes a practical one, proclaimed by our character before our tongues?
