A new challenge: Who am I?
I was one of the poor among the Companions.
I was short and plain in appearance.
I was poor and of unknown lineage.
Yet, I had a sense of humor.
The Prophet, peace be upon him, loved me.
Once, he said to me:
"Will you not get married?"
I replied, "And who would marry me, O Messenger of Allah?"
He, peace be upon him, said:
"I will marry you off."
I said:
"In that case, you will find me unsellable, O Messenger of Allah."
He replied:
"But in the sight of Allah, you are not unsellable."
One day, the Prophet, peace be upon him, said to a man from the Ansar:
"Marry your daughter to me."
The Ansari man was overjoyed and said:
"Yes, and with all honor, O Messenger of Allah."
Then the Prophet, peace be upon him, said:
"I do not want her for myself."
"I want her for this man."
And he pointed to me.
When the man saw me,
he hesitated and said:
"Let me consult her mother."
When he consulted her, she said:
"No, by Allah!"
"We will never marry her to him."
The girl sensed what was happening.
She asked her parents:
"Who has proposed to you on my behalf?"
Her mother informed her.
She said:
"Would you reject the command of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him?"
"Give me to him."
"For Allah will not let me go to waste."
Her father went to the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him,
and informed him.
So the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, married her to me.
And he said:
"O Allah, pour goodness upon them in abundance."
"And do not make their life a struggle."
After that, there was not
a woman who possessed more wealth and charity than she did.
A few days after my marriage,
the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, went out
on a military expedition.
I went out with him.
When Allah granted him victory,
he said to his Companions:
"Do you miss anyone?"
They said:
"We miss so-and-so."
"And we miss so-and-so."
Then he said:
"Look again, do you miss anyone?"
They said, "No."
So the Prophet, peace be upon him, said:
"But I miss so-and-so."
Meaning me.
"Search for him among the fallen."
They searched for me,
and they found me.
They said, "O Messenger of Allah,"
"here he is, beside seven"
"of the polytheists."
The Prophet, peace be upon him, came to me
and said, "He killed seven,"
"then they killed him."
"He is of me, and I am of him."
"He is of me, and I am of him."
"He is of me, and I am of him."
"He is of me, and I am of him."
"He is of me, and I am of him."
Then the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, placed me
upon his forearm.
And he dug my grave.
I had no bed
other than the forearm of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him.
Then he, peace be upon him, placed me
into my grave with his noble hands.
So, who am I?
