A summary of the concepts held by the Ahl al-Sunnah.
Using double standards.
The duality of criteria.
By this, we mean a person’s insistence on receiving their full rights.
Yet, when it comes to others, they scrutinize their rights.
Thus, the measure they use for themselves differs from the measure they use for others.
This applies to all rights and spheres of life.
It is a reprehensible character trait.
It is encompassed by the general meaning of the words of Allah the Almighty:
"Woe to those who give less than due,"
"Who, when they take a measure from people, demand it in full."
“But if they measure unto them or weight for them, they cause them loss.” (83:3)
And the warning of 'Woe' contained therein.
A Muslim is required to love for their brother what they love for themselves.
As the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:
"None of you truly believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself."
Agreed upon.
And that one should be fair to others as they are to themselves, and treat people as they would wish to be treated.
