line during battles, 00:05:59.660 --> 00:06:01.980 And standing behind him in prayers. 00:06:01.980 --> 00:06:06.699 He was among those who strived with their lives and wealth in the cause of Allah. provided five hundred horses and five hundred mounts for the cause of Allah. 00:06:19.060 --> 00:06:25.459 He stood firm alongside the Prophet (peace be upon him) on the Day of Uhud when many people turned away, 00:06:25.459 --> 00:06:31.339 And the Prophet (peace be upon him) dispatched him at the head of an expedition to Dumat al-Jandal, 00:06:31.339 --> 00:06:33.500 Where Allah granted him victory. 00:06:33.500 --> 00:06:38.980 He continued his jihad and support for Islam under the Caliphs who came after the Prophet. 00:06:38.980 --> 00:06:42.699 He held a place of high esteem and was When he reached the region of Saragh, 00:06:51.740 --> 00:06:55.579 News reached him that a plague had broken out in the Levant. 00:06:55.579 --> 00:06:58.300 'Umar consulted those who were with him; outbreak of plague in a land, 00:07:19.100 --> 00:07:21.339 Do not enter it; 00:07:21.339 --> 00:07:23.660 And if it breaks out in a land while you are in it, 00:07:23.660 --> 00:07:26.720 Do not leave it fleeing from it.'" 00:07:26.720 --> 00:07:29.079 So 'Umar took his advice 00:07:29.079 --> 00:07:32.370 And returned with those accompanying him to Madinah. 00:07:32.370 --> 00:07:35.410 When 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was mortally wounded, 00:07:35.410 --> 00:07:38.529 He entrusted the matter of succession to a council of six Companions, 00:07:38.529 --> 00:07:42.569 Those with Allah be pleased with him) was famous for his abundant spending in the cause of Allah, 00:08:30.670 --> 00:08:33.429 Upon the poor among the Muslims, 00:08:33.429 --> 00:08:35.590 And for emancipating his slaves— 00:08:35.629 --> 00:08:38.389 With numerous accounts recording these deeds. 00:08:38.389 --> 00:08:42.590 Among them is that he once sold a piece of land for forty thousand dinars 00:08:42.590 --> 00:08:46.230 And distributed all of it among his relatives from Banu Zuhrah 00:08:46.230 --> 00:08:48.549 And the poor Muslims. 00:08:48.549 --> 00:08:52.789 On a single day, he manumitted thirty slaves. 00:08:52.789 --> 00:08:55.909 Talhah ibn 'Ubayd Allah used to say: 00:08:55.909 --> 00:09:00.509 "The people of Madinah were dependents upon 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Awf:
