A scholar’s arrogance regarding his knowledge stems from his ignorance of himself and of Allah, the Almighty and Majestic.
If a person truly knew that his knowledge is a gift from Allah,
and that it does not equal even an atom in comparison to the knowledge of Allah the Exalted,
he would never have acted arrogantly or challenged Allah with his knowledge.
In fact, the arrogance of a student of knowledge is, in reality, a product of his ignorance of Allah, the Almighty and Majestic,
and his ignorance of himself and the insignificance of his knowledge in relation to the knowledge of Allah.
The Almighty says:
“They are asking thee concerning the Spirit. Say: The Spirit is by command of my Lord, and of knowledge ye have been vouchsafed but little.” (17:85)
