Surah Yusuf.
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Alif-Lam-Ra.
These are the verses of the clear Book.
Alif-Lam-Ra.
These are the verses of the clear Book.
For those who recite it and contemplate its contents regarding what is lawful and what is forbidden.
And all other forms of meaning it encompasses.
“Lo! We have revealed it, a Lecture in Arabic, that ye may understand.” (12:2)
We have revealed this clear Book as an Arabic Qur'an to the Arabs.
“We narrate unto thee (Muhammad) the best of narratives in that We have inspired in thee this Qur'an, though aforetime thou wast of the heedless.” (12:3)
“We narrate unto thee (Muhammad) the best of narratives in that We have inspired in thee this Qur'an, though aforetime thou wast of the heedless.” (12:3)
We relate to you, O Muhammad, the best of stories.
Through Our revelation of this Qur'an to you.
We inform you therein of past events.
Even though you, O Muhammad, were before We revealed it to you, among those who were unaware of such things.
You knew nothing of it, nor any part of it.
When Yusuf said to his father, "O my father, indeed I saw eleven stars."
“When Joseph said unto his father: O my father! Lo! I saw in a dream eleven planets and the sun and the moon, I saw them prostrating themselves unto me.” (12:4)
Even though you, O Muhammad, were among those unaware of the story of Yusuf, son of Ya'qub.
When he said to his father, Ya'qub.
"O my father, indeed I saw in my dream eleven stars."
"And the sun and the moon; I saw them in my dream prostrating to me."
“He said: O my dear son! Tell not thy brethren of thy vision, lest they plot a plot against thee. Lo! Satan is for man an open foe.” (12:5)
“He said: O my dear son! Tell not thy brethren of thy vision, lest they plot a plot against thee. Lo! Satan is for man an open foe.” (12:5)
Ya'qub said to his son Yusuf.
"O my son, do not relate your vision to your brothers, lest they envy you, plot against you, and show you enmity."
Indeed, Satan is an open enemy to Adam and his children, having made his enmity clear and manifest to them.
So beware of Satan inciting your brothers against you through envy.
“Thus thy Lord will prefer thee and will teach thee the interpretation of events, and will perfect His grace upon thee and upon the family of Jacob as He perfected it upon thy forefathers, Abraham and Isaac. Lo! thy Lord is Knower, Wise.” (12:6)
And He will perfect His favor upon you and upon the family of Ya'qub.
“Thus thy Lord will prefer thee and will teach thee the interpretation of events, and will perfect His grace upon thee and upon the family of Jacob as He perfected it upon thy forefathers, Abraham and Isaac. Lo! thy Lord is Knower, Wise.” (12:6)

And just as your Lord showed you the stars, the sun, and the moon prostrating to you.
So too will your Lord choose you.
And your Lord will teach you the interpretation of what people say regarding what they see in their dreams.
This is the interpretation of visions.
And He will perfect His favor upon you by choosing and selecting you, and upon the family of Ya'qub.
“Thus thy Lord will prefer thee and will teach thee the interpretation of events, and will perfect His grace upon thee and upon the family of Jacob as He perfected it upon thy forefathers, Abraham and Isaac. Lo! thy Lord is Knower, Wise.” (12:6)
Indeed, your Lord is All-Knowing of where to place His bounty.
All-Wise in His management of His creation.
