I replied, "I shall not do so." 00:01:43.819 --> 00:01:46.819 The troops had begun to scatter and fall back in defeat, 00:01:47.819 --> 00:01:52.819 so I advanced with the banner until I saw Khalid ibn al-Walid, may Allah be pleased with him, 00:01:52.819 --> 00:01:57.819 who had been a Muslim for only three months. 00:01:57.819 --> 00:01:59.879 I handed the banner over to him. 00:01:59.879 --> 00:02:03.879 Khalid said, "I will not take it from you! 00:02:03.879 --> 00:02:10.879 You are more worthy of it; you fought at Badr and you carry the Qur'an." 00:02:10.879 --> 00:02:15.879 I said, "By Allah, O Khalid, I only took it to give it to you! 00:02:15.879 --> 00:02:18.879 You are far more skilled in warfare than I am." 00:02:18.879 --> 00:02:22.879 Then I called out to the Muslims at the top of my voice, 00:02:22.879 --> 00:02:27.879 "O Muslims, do you consent to the leadership of Khalid?" 00:02:27.879 --> 00:02:30.879 They replied, "O Allah, yes!" 00:02:30.879 --> 00:02:34.879 So Khalid ibn al-Walid, may Allah be pleased with him, took up the banner. 00:02:34.879 --> 00:02:39.979 Meanwhile, the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, was in Madinah, 00:02:39.979 --> 00:02:43.979 describing the events of the battle to those with him, saying: 00:02:43.979 --> 00:02:48.039 "Then the banner was taken by a sword from among the Swords of Allah, 00:02:48.039 --> 00:02:51.039 and Allah granted them victory." 00:02:51.039 --> 00:02:55.580 After the death of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, 00:02:55.580 --> 00:02:59.580 I marched out with the Muslim armies to fight the apostates. 00:02:59.580 --> 00:03:04.580 When Khalid ibn al-Walid, may Allah be pleased with him, drew near to the enemy forces, 00:03:04.580 --> 00:03:09.580 he dispatched me and 'Ukashah ibn Mihsan as a vanguard ahead of him 00:03:09.580 --> 00:03:11.580 to bring him intelligence. 00:03:11.580 --> 00:03:15.580 We encountered Tulayhah ibn Khuwaylid and his brother Salamah, 00:03:15.580 --> 00:03:19.580 who were acting as a vanguard for the people behind them. 00:03:19.580 --> 00:03:22.580 Tulayhah fought 'Ukashah, 00:03:22.580 --> 00:03:25.580 while I fought Salamah. 00:03:25.580 --> 00:03:28.580 It was not long before I killed Salamah. 00:03:28.580 --> 00:03:31.580 Then Tulayhah cried out to his brother Salamah, 00:03:31.580 --> 00:03:35.580 "Help me against this man, for he will surely kill me!" 00:03:35.580 --> 00:03:40.620 So Salamah and his brother turned together against 'Ukashah, may Allah be pleased with him, 00:03:40.620 --> 00:03:42.740 and killed him. 00:03:42.740 --> 00:03:46.740 Then Khalid ibn al-Walid arrived with the body of the Muslims, 00:03:46.740 --> 00:03:48.740 and they found us lying slain. 00:03:48.740 --> 00:03:51.740 They saw severe, grievous wounds upon us, 00:03:51.740 --> 00:03:54.740 and the sight of us deeply distressed them. 00:03:54.740 --> 00:03:59.740 So they dug a grave for us and buried us in our blood and clothes. 00:03:59.740 --> 00:04:03.289 A period of time later, 00:04:03.289 --> 00:04:08.289 Tulayhah ibn Khuwaylid came as a Muslim to 'Umar, the Commander of the Faithful. 00:04:08.289 --> 00:04:10.289 'Umar said to him, 00:04:10.289 --> 00:04:17.290 "How can I love you when you killed those two righteous men, 'Ukashah and his companion?" 00:04:17.290 --> 00:04:19.379 Tulayhah replied, 00:04:19.379 --> 00:04:22.379 "Allah honored them at my hands, 00:04:22.379 --> 00:04:25.379 and He did not disgrace me at theirs." 00:04:25.379 --> 00:04:27.610 So, who am I? 00:04:44.829 --> 00:04:46.829 Subscribe to the channel.
