00:00:16.460 --> 00:00:21.789 I am one of the Companions. 00:00:21.789 --> 00:00:24.789 I was an ally of the Banu Zuhrah. 00:00:24.789 --> 00:00:27.859 In my youth in Makkah, 00:00:27.859 --> 00:00:30.859 I used to tend sheep for 'Uqbah Ibn Abi Mu'ayt. 00:00:30.859 --> 00:00:33.920 The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, passed by me, 00:00:33.920 --> 00:00:36.920 along with Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him. 00:00:36.920 --> 00:00:39.920 He said, "O young boy, 00:00:39.920 --> 00:00:42.920 do you have any milk?" 00:00:42.920 --> 00:00:45.920 I replied, "Yes, but I am a trustee." 00:00:45.920 --> 00:00:48.920 He, peace be upon him, then said, 00:00:48.920 --> 00:00:51.920 "Is there a ewe that has not yet been mounted 00:00:51.920 --> 00:00:53.920 by a ram?" 00:00:53.920 --> 00:00:56.920 I said, "Yes," and brought him a ewe. 00:00:56.920 --> 00:00:58.920 He wiped its udder, 00:00:58.920 --> 00:01:00.920 and the milk flowed down. 00:01:00.920 --> 00:01:02.920 He milked it into a vessel, 00:01:02.920 --> 00:01:06.920 then drank, gave some to Abu Bakr, and gave some to me. 00:01:06.920 --> 00:01:09.920 Then he said to the udder, 00:01:09.920 --> 00:01:11.920 "Shrink," and it shrank. 00:01:11.920 --> 00:01:14.920 I said, "O Messenger of Allah, 00:01:14.920 --> 00:01:17.920 teach me some of these words." 00:01:17.920 --> 00:01:20.920 He wiped my head and said, 00:01:20.920 --> 00:01:23.980 "You are a gifted young boy." 00:01:23.980 --> 00:01:25.980 I embraced Islam at that moment, 00:01:25.980 --> 00:01:28.980 and I was among the first to accept Islam, 00:01:28.980 --> 00:01:32.980 even before the Prophet, peace be upon him, entered 00:01:32.980 --> 00:01:34.980 the house of Al-Arqam. 00:01:34.980 --> 00:01:39.939 I remained close to the Prophet in Makkah, 00:01:39.939 --> 00:01:42.939 and I was bold in my faith, 00:01:42.939 --> 00:01:46.939 becoming the first to recite the Qur'an aloud in Makkah 00:01:46.939 --> 00:01:49.939 after the Prophet, peace be upon him. 00:01:49.939 --> 00:01:53.980 I endured what the early Muslims endured 00:01:53.980 --> 00:01:55.980 from the persecution of the Quraysh, 00:01:55.980 --> 00:01:58.980 until I migrated to Abyssinia, 00:01:58.980 --> 00:02:00.980 and then to Madinah. 00:02:00.980 --> 00:02:06.200 I remained close to the Prophet in Madinah as well. 00:02:06.200 --> 00:02:09.199 I would put on his sandals for him, 00:02:09.199 --> 00:02:12.199 then walk before him with his staff. 00:02:12.199 --> 00:02:15.199 When he reached his gathering place, 00:02:15.199 --> 00:02:17.199 I would take off his sandals, 00:02:17.199 --> 00:02:19.199 carry them in my arms, 00:02:19.199 --> 00:02:21.199 and hand him his staff. 00:02:21.199 --> 00:02:25.199 I would enter his private quarters ahead of him with his staff. 00:02:25.199 --> 00:02:27.259 When traveling, I was 00:02:27.259 --> 00:02:32.259 the keeper of the Prophet's secrets, his bedding, 00:02:32.259 --> 00:02:35.259 his siwak, his sandals, and his water for purification. 00:02:35.259 --> 00:02:41.419 I was the one who would screen the Prophet when he bathed, 00:02:41.419 --> 00:02:43.419 wake him when he slept, 00:02:43.419 --> 00:02:46.419 and keep him company when he walked. 00:02:46.419 --> 00:02:54.159 Some of the Companions even thought I was a member of his household, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. 00:02:54.159 --> 00:03:00.259 I witnessed Badr and all the battles with the Prophet, peace be upon him. 00:03:00.259 --> 00:03:03.259 During the blessed Battle of Badr, 00:03:03.259 --> 00:03:06.259 the Prophet, peace be upon him, said, 00:03:06.259 --> 00:03:09.259 "Who will see what Abu Jahl has done?" 00:03:09.259 --> 00:03:13.259 I said, "I will, O Messenger of Allah." 00:03:13.259 --> 00:03:18.259 Abu Jahl had been one of those who tormented me most severely in Makkah. 00:03:18.259 --> 00:03:21.259 I went to him and found him struck down, 00:03:21.259 --> 00:03:23.259 but still clinging to life. 00:03:23.259 --> 00:03:26.259 The sons of 'Afra' had struck him. 00:03:26.259 --> 00:03:29.259 I climbed onto his chest and killed him. 00:03:29.259 --> 00:03:33.259 Then I came to the Prophet, peace be upon him, and said, 00:03:33.259 --> 00:03:35.259 "I have killed Abu Jahl." 00:03:35.259 --> 00:03:37.259 He asked, 00:03:37.259 --> 00:03:41.259 "By Allah, besides whom there is no god?" 00:03:41.259 --> 00:03:43.259 He repeated this three times. 00:03:43.259 --> 00:03:45.259 Then he said, 00:03:45.259 --> 00:03:47.259 "Allah is the Greatest." 00:03:47.259 --> 00:03:49.259 "Go and show him to me." 00:03:49.259 --> 00:03:51.259 We went, 00:03:51.259 --> 00:03:54.259 and there he was, fallen and dead. 00:03:54.259 --> 00:03:57.259 The Prophet, peace be upon him, said, 00:03:57.259 --> 00:04:01.509 "This is the Pharaoh of this Ummah." 00:04:01.509 --> 00:04:05.050 So, who am I?
