Hadith and commentary
On the authority of 'Ubadah Ibn al-Samit, who said:
We pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, to hear and obey,
In times of our eagerness and our aversion,
And in our hardship and our ease.
End of the hadith.
Commentary:
"Eagerness" refers to:
The state in which a person is inclined to obey their leader.
And "aversion" refers to:
The state in which a person dislikes obeying him.
Thus, obedience to him is mandatory in both states,
Provided he does not command an act of disobedience to Allah.
