WEBVTT 00:00:01.419 --> 00:00:07.419 The story of the Hajj of our Mother ‘A’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her. 00:00:07.419 --> 00:00:15.880 Our Mother ‘A’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, began her menses at Sarif. 00:00:15.880 --> 00:00:25.379 She had been listening to the sermon of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, to his Companions. 00:00:25.379 --> 00:00:28.379 He was urging them to perform it as an ‘Umrah. 00:00:28.379 --> 00:00:34.380 However, she was surprised by the onset of her menses while she was at Sarif, near Makkah. 00:00:34.380 --> 00:00:38.420 This meant that she would not be able to perform ‘Umrah. 00:00:38.420 --> 00:00:44.420 The time remaining until the Day of ‘Arafah was short, and menses has its own duration. 00:00:44.420 --> 00:00:50.420 Thus, our Mother ‘A’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, realized she would not be able to perform ‘Umrah. 00:00:50.420 --> 00:00:56.420 Even as she heard the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, encouraging his Companions to perform it as an ‘Umrah. 00:00:56.420 --> 00:00:58.420 So she wept. 00:00:58.420 --> 00:01:03.420 The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, entered upon her while she was weeping. 00:01:03.420 --> 00:01:06.420 He comforted her to learn the reason for her tears. 00:01:06.420 --> 00:01:10.450 Our Mother ‘A’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, says: 00:01:10.450 --> 00:01:13.450 "When we arrived at Sarif, I began my menses." 00:01:13.450 --> 00:01:18.670 "The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, entered upon me while I was weeping." 00:01:18.670 --> 00:01:22.670 He asked, "What makes you weep, ‘A’ishah?" 00:01:22.670 --> 00:01:27.769 I said, "I wish, by Allah, that I had not performed Hajj this year." 00:01:27.769 --> 00:01:31.769 He said, "What is the matter with you? Perhaps you have begun your menses?" 00:01:31.769 --> 00:01:33.829 I said, "Yes." 00:01:33.829 --> 00:01:36.829 He said, "Subhan Allah!" 00:01:36.829 --> 00:01:40.829 "For that is something Allah has decreed for the daughters of Adam." 00:01:40.829 --> 00:01:43.829 "So, perform what the pilgrim performs," 00:01:43.829 --> 00:01:47.829 "Except that you do not circumambulate the House until you are pure." 00:01:47.829 --> 00:01:54.409 A woman in menses, generally speaking, experiences a change in her emotional state during that period. 00:01:54.409 --> 00:01:56.409 So how much more so during Hajj? 00:01:56.409 --> 00:01:59.409 Especially when she desires to perform the rites with the Muslims. 00:01:59.409 --> 00:02:03.409 And she fears falling behind them or delaying those who are with her. 00:02:03.409 --> 00:02:07.409 That is why our Mother ‘A’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, wept. 00:02:07.409 --> 00:02:12.409 And said, "I wish, by Allah, that I had not performed Hajj this year." 00:02:12.409 --> 00:02:17.409 This shows the intensity of her distress at the onset of her menses. 00:02:17.409 --> 00:02:21.629 Among the beautiful character traits of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, 00:02:21.629 --> 00:02:23.629 And his kind treatment of his family, 00:02:23.629 --> 00:02:26.629 Is that when he saw her weeping, 00:02:26.629 --> 00:02:30.629 He inquired about the reason for her tears and comforted her. 00:02:30.629 --> 00:02:34.629 He said, "What makes you weep, O you?" 00:02:34.629 --> 00:02:37.729 I said, "I heard what you said to your Companions," 00:02:37.729 --> 00:02:39.729 "And I have been prevented from the ‘Umrah." 00:02:39.729 --> 00:02:42.860 She explained the reason for her tears: 00:02:42.860 --> 00:02:45.860 That she 00:04:27.180 --> 00:04:30.180 For ‘A’ishah’s weeping when she began her menses 00:04:30.180 --> 00:04:33.180 Only occurred due to the distress she felt, 00:04:33.180 --> 00:04:36.279 And her sadness over missing the ‘Umrah. 00:04:36.279 --> 00:04:39.279 This reason might not be quickly grasped by men, 00:04:39.279 --> 00:04:42.279 And a man might not pay much attention to it, 00:04:42.279 --> 00:04:45.279 Because he sees menses as a natural matter 00:04:45.279 --> 00:04:47.279 That happens to every woman. 00:04:47.279 --> 00:04:49.279 And it is indeed so. 00:04:49.279 --> 00:04:52.279 But a woman may be in an emotional state 00:04:52.279 --> 00:04:54.279 Where she is affected by the onset of menses, 00:04:54.279 --> 00:04:57.279 Like a woman waiting for pregnancy after her marriage, 00:04:57.279 --> 00:04:59.279 And it is delayed for her, 00:04:59.279 --> 00:05:02.279 So she weeps when her menses begins, 00:05:02.279 --> 00:05:04.279 Or for any other reason. 00:05:04.279 --> 00:05:07.439 Thus, the action of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, 00:05:07.439 --> 00:05:09.439 With ‘A’ishah 00:05:09.439 --> 00:05:12.439 Served as guidance for husbands in the 00:05:36.569 "This is a matter Allah has decreed for the daughters of Adam." 00:05:36.569 --> 00:05:39.569 Meaning, He has ordained it for them, 00:05:39.569 --> 00:05:41.569 And bound them to it. 00:05:41.569 --> 00:05:44.569 So they are worshippers through their patience with it. 00:05:44.569 --> 00:05:47.569 "You are only a woman from among the daughters of Adam," 00:05:47.569 --> 00:05:50.569 "Allah has decreed for you what He decreed for them." 00:05:50.569 --> 00:05:53.569 So the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, calmed 00:05:53.569 --> 00:05:55.569 Her anxiety with two things: 00:05:55.569 --> 00:05:59.569 First, that menses is a matter Allah has decreed 00:05:59.569 --> 00:06:01.569 For women in general. 00:06:01.569 --> 00:06:04.569 And second, that she is like them, 00:06:04.569 --> 00:06:07.569 Subject to what they are subject to. 00:06:07.569 --> 00:06:10.569 This is a source of comfort and solace for her, 00:06:10.569 --> 00:06:13.569 circumambulating the House." 00:07:39.649 --> 00:07:42.379 So, O noble sisters, 00:07:42.379 --> 00:07:45.379 A woman in ihram for Hajj or ‘Umrah, if she begins her menses, 00:07:45.379 --> 00:07:47.379 Is only prevented 00:07:47.379 --> 00:07:49.379 From circumambulating the House. 00:07:49.379 --> 00:07:52.379 She is not prevented from dhikr, supplication, 00:07:52.379 --> 00:07:54.379 Or reciting the Qur'an. 00:07:54.379 --> 00:07:57.379 So do not make narrow for yourselves what is broad. 00:07:57.379 --> 00:08:02.860 Instilling hope in a woman's spirit. 00:08:02.860 --> your Hajj," 00:08:26.459 --> 00:08:29.459 "Perhaps Allah will grant it to you." 00:08:29.459 --> 00:08:32.460 Meaning, grant you the ‘Umrah so you may perform it, 00:08:32.460 --> 00:08:35.460 Or grant you the reward of the ‘Umrah, 00:08:35.460 --> 00:08:37.460 Even if you do not perform it, 00:08:37.460 --> 00:08:39.460 Because actions are by intentions, 00:08:39.460 --> 00:08:43.460 And you combines the hardship of travel 00:09:04.620 --> 00:09:08.620 With the hardship of the event that has occurred to the woman.
