Innovation (bid'ah).
Innovation is that which is newly introduced into the religion.
Some scholars define it
as any method invented within the religion
that mimics the divinely ordained path,
with the intention of exaggerating in the worship of Allah.
Such innovation is forbidden,
and all of it is misguidance and rejected upon those who practice it.
The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:
"Whoever introduces into this matter of ours that which is not part of it, it is rejected."
Agreed upon.
As for that which is newly introduced in worldly affairs,
such as inventions and systems that are needed,
and which do not contradict the Shari'ah,
there is no innovation in them.
