00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:03.439
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

00:00:03.439 --> 00:00:06.929
Treasures of the Prophetic biography (Seerah).

00:00:06.929 --> 00:00:16.859
The washing and burial of the Prophet, peace be upon him.

00:00:16.859 --> 00:00:18.780
On Tuesday,

00:00:18.780 --> 00:00:22.059
they washed the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him,

00:00:22.059 --> 00:00:25.260
without removing his garments.

00:00:25.260 --> 00:00:29.019
Those who undertook the washing of the Prophet, peace be upon him, were

00:00:29.019 --> 00:00:32.700
al-'Abbas, 'Ali, and Qutham,

00:00:32.859 --> 00:00:34.859
along with al-Fadl ibn al-'Abbas,

00:00:34.859 --> 00:00:39.340
Shuqran, the freedman of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him,

00:00:39.340 --> 00:00:41.340
Usamah ibn Zayd,

00:00:41.340 --> 00:00:43.409
and Aws ibn Khawli.

00:00:43.409 --> 00:00:46.450
Al-'Abbas, al-Fadl, and Qutham

00:00:46.450 --> 00:00:50.210
turned the body of the Prophet, peace be upon him,

00:00:50.210 --> 00:00:52.210
while Usamah and Shuqran

00:00:52.210 --> 00:00:53.969
poured the water,

00:00:53.969 --> 00:00:55.969
and 'Ali performed the washing.

00:00:55.969 --> 00:01:00.829
Aws supported him against his chest, peace be upon him.

00:01:00.990 --> 00:01:05.390
Then they shrouded him in three white cotton garments,

00:01:05.390 --> 00:01:08.430
containing neither a shirt nor a turban.

00:01:08.430 --> 00:01:11.390
They wrapped him in them completely.

00:01:11.390 --> 00:01:15.310
There was a difference of opinion regarding the burial of the Prophet, peace be upon him.

00:01:15.310 --> 00:01:17.150
Abu Bakr said,

00:01:17.150 --> 00:01:21.870
"I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, say:

00:01:21.870 --> 00:01:23.469
'No prophet is taken [in death]

00:01:23.469 --> 00:01:26.159
except that he is buried where he was taken.'"

00:01:26.239 --> 00:01:31.840
So they lifted the bed upon which he, peace be upon him, had passed away,

00:01:31.840 --> 00:01:35.629
dug beneath it, and made the grave a *lahd* (a side-niche).

00:01:35.629 --> 00:01:38.670
'A'ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, said:

00:01:38.670 --> 00:01:42.750
"I saw three moons fall into my room."

00:01:42.750 --> 00:01:44.750
This was a dream.

00:01:44.750 --> 00:01:48.349
I asked her father, Abu Bakr, and he said,

00:01:48.349 --> 00:01:54.030
"If your vision is true, three of the best people on earth will be buried in your house."

00:01:54.109 --> 00:01:56.750
And indeed, the best of the people on earth was buried there,

00:01:56.750 --> 00:02:00.430
namely the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him,

00:02:00.430 --> 00:02:02.109
then Abu Bakr,

00:02:02.109 --> 00:02:04.109
then 'Umar ibn al-Khattab,

00:02:04.109 --> 00:02:06.420
may Allah be pleased with them both.

00:02:06.420 --> 00:02:09.379
People entered the room in groups,

00:02:09.379 --> 00:02:12.500
not all at once, but separately,

00:02:12.500 --> 00:02:14.259
because the room was small,

00:02:14.259 --> 00:02:17.860
to pray over the Prophet, peace be upon him.

00:02:17.860 --> 00:02:19.939
No one led them in prayer.

00:02:19.939 --> 00:02:23.300
His relatives prayed over him first,

00:02:23.300 --> 00:02:25.060
then the Muhajirun,

00:02:25.060 --> 00:02:26.979
then the Ansar,

00:02:26.979 --> 00:02:30.180
then the women prayed over him after the men,

00:02:30.180 --> 00:02:32.979
and then the children.

00:02:32.979 --> 00:02:35.539
No group prayed over him collectively.

00:02:35.539 --> 00:02:37.699
It is said this was for two reasons:

00:02:37.699 --> 00:02:38.979
The first:

00:02:38.979 --> 00:02:44.740
So that each one of them could personally perform the prayer over him, peace be upon him.

00:02:44.740 --> 00:02:46.210
The second:

00:02:46.210 --> 00:02:49.409
So that the prayer would be repeated by every individual,

00:02:49.490 --> 00:02:54.909
resulting in many prayers being offered for him, peace be upon him.

00:02:54.909 --> 00:02:58.990
The prayer over him continued throughout Monday and Tuesday,

00:02:58.990 --> 00:03:02.020
until the night of Wednesday arrived.

00:03:02.020 --> 00:03:03.780
'A'ishah said,

00:03:03.780 --> 00:03:07.939
"We did not know of the burial of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him,

00:03:07.939 --> 00:03:13.300
until we heard the sound of shovels in the middle of the night of Wednesday,"

00:03:13.300 --> 00:03:17.340
the night in which he, peace be upon him, was buried.

00:03:17.340 --> 00:03:19.259
Ibn Mas'ud said,

00:03:19.259 --> 00:03:25.340
"I would rather swear nine times that the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, was killed,

00:03:25.340 --> 00:03:30.460
than swear once that he was not killed."

00:03:30.460 --> 00:03:33.659
This is because Allah chose him as a prophet

00:03:33.659 --> 00:03:35.659
and made him a martyr,

00:03:35.659 --> 00:03:37.659
as the Almighty said:

00:03:37.659 --> 00:03:40.939
"If he dies or is killed..."

00:03:40.939 --> 00:03:46.479
Treasures of the Prophetic biography (Seerah).

00:03:46.479 --> 00:03:51.539
And Medina grew dark.

00:03:51.539 --> 00:03:53.060
Anas said,

00:03:53.060 --> 00:03:55.060
"I have never seen a day

00:03:55.060 --> 00:04:01.860
more beautiful or radiant than the day the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, entered upon us,

00:04:01.860 --> 00:04:09.139
and I have never seen a day more ugly or dark than the day he, peace be upon him, died."

00:04:09.139 --> 00:04:12.180
We had not yet dusted the earth from our hands after burying the Messenger of Allah,

00:04:12.180 --> 00:04:15.169
when we felt our hearts had changed.

00:04:15.169 --> 00:04:16.689
Ibn Kathir said,

00:04:16.689 --> 00:04:20.129
"Its chain of narration meets the criteria of the two Sahihs."

00:04:20.209 --> 00:04:23.889
When the Prophet, peace be upon him, died,

00:04:23.889 --> 00:04:26.930
Fatimah, may Allah be pleased with her, said:

00:04:26.930 --> 00:04:28.610
"O my father,

00:04:28.610 --> 00:04:31.120
he has answered the Lord who called him.

00:04:31.120 --> 00:04:32.879
O my father,

00:04:32.879 --> 00:04:36.160
his abode is in the highest Paradise (Firdaws).

00:04:36.160 --> 00:04:37.920
O my father,

00:04:37.920 --> 00:04:40.689
we announce his death to Jibril."

00:04:40.689 --> 00:04:44.129
This is not the prohibited form of wailing,

00:04:44.129 --> 00:04:46.370
but rather the permissible announcement of death.

00:04:46.449 --> 00:04:52.529
As for the wailing that involves raising the voice, tearing clothes, and pulling hair,

00:04:52.529 --> 00:04:54.930
that is what is forbidden,

00:04:54.930 --> 00:04:58.529
as the Prophet, peace be upon him, said:

00:04:58.529 --> 00:05:03.629
"I am free of those who shave their hair, raise their voices in grief, or tear their clothes."

00:05:03.629 --> 00:05:06.750
When he, peace be upon him, was buried,

00:05:06.750 --> 00:05:09.709
Fatimah, may Allah be pleased with her, said:

00:05:09.709 --> 00:05:11.069
"O Anas,

00:05:11.149 --> 00:05:17.709
how could your souls bear to cast earth upon the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him?"

00:05:17.709 --> 00:05:23.069
She meant that the burial of the Prophet, peace be upon him, and the casting of earth upon him

00:05:23.069 --> 00:05:29.339
was contrary to what she knew of their tender hearts toward him and their intense love for him.

00:05:29.339 --> 00:05:33.019
Anas, may Allah be pleased with him, remained silent and did not answer her,

00:05:33.019 --> 00:05:34.699
out of consideration for her feelings.

00:05:34.699 --> 00:05:37.180
His state of being said:

00:05:37.180 --> 00:05:39.180
"Our souls could not bear it,

00:05:39.180 --> 00:05:43.220
but we did it in compliance with his command."

00:05:43.220 --> 00:05:45.699
'Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, stood,

00:05:45.699 --> 00:05:48.259
the news having driven him out of his senses,

00:05:48.259 --> 00:05:53.459
unable to believe that the Prophet, peace be upon him, had died.

00:05:53.459 --> 00:05:57.300
He said, "Some of the hypocrites

00:05:57.300 --> 00:06:02.740
claim that the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, has passed away.

00:06:02.740 --> 00:06:07.379
But the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, has not died;

00:06:07.379 --> 00:06:13.300
rather, he has gone to his Lord just as Musa ibn 'Imran went to meet his Lord,

00:06:13.300 --> 00:06:16.420
disappearing from his people for forty nights,

00:06:16.420 --> 00:06:20.100
then returning to them after it was said he had died.

00:06:20.100 --> 00:06:24.660
By Allah, the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, will surely return,

00:06:24.660 --> 00:06:31.250
and he will surely cut off the hands and feet of men who claim he has died."

00:06:31.250 --> 00:06:36.220
Treasures of the Prophetic biography (Seerah).

00:06:36.220 --> 00:06:42.860
Steadfastness during calamity.

00:06:42.860 --> 00:06:45.660
Abu Bakr arrived from al-Sunh.

00:06:45.660 --> 00:06:50.459
This was because when the Prophet showed his noble face to the Muslims

00:06:50.459 --> 00:06:52.540
while they were praying the dawn prayer

00:06:52.540 --> 00:06:54.939
on the day he died,

00:06:54.939 --> 00:06:59.259
Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, thought he had recovered.

00:06:59.259 --> 00:07:03.579
So he asked the Messenger of Allah for permission to go to his wife in al-Sunh,

00:07:03.579 --> 00:07:06.459
who was Habibah bint Kharijah.

00:07:06.459 --> 00:07:11.500
As soon as the news of the death of the Prophet, peace be upon him, reached him,

00:07:11.579 --> 00:07:14.860
he returned and entered the mosque,

00:07:14.860 --> 00:07:17.180
without speaking to the people.

00:07:17.180 --> 00:07:22.300
Then he entered the house of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, to see 'A'ishah.

00:07:22.300 --> 00:07:26.220
He approached the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him,

00:07:26.220 --> 00:07:28.540
who was covered with a garment.

00:07:28.540 --> 00:07:30.379
He uncovered his face,

00:07:30.379 --> 00:07:35.310
then leaned over him, kissed him between his eyes, and wept.

00:07:35.310 --> 00:07:36.829
Then he said,

00:07:36.829 --> 00:07:38.910
"May my father and mother be sacrificed for you!

00:07:38.910 --> 00:07:41.949
How pleasant you were in life and in death!

00:07:41.949 --> 00:07:45.069
Allah will not cause you to experience two deaths.

00:07:45.069 --> 00:07:49.709
As for the death that was decreed for you, you have already experienced it."

00:07:49.709 --> 00:07:51.709
Then Abu Bakr went out,

00:07:51.709 --> 00:07:54.189
and found 'Umar speaking to the people.

00:07:54.189 --> 00:07:55.389
He said,

00:07:55.389 --> 00:07:57.149
"Sit down, O 'Umar."

00:07:57.149 --> 00:07:59.470
But 'Umar refused to sit.

00:07:59.470 --> 00:08:02.029
So he left him and turned to the people,

00:08:02.029 --> 00:08:04.110
and the people turned to him.

00:08:04.110 --> 00:08:06.990
Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, said,

00:08:06.990 --> 00:08:08.750
"To proceed:

00:08:08.750 --> 00:08:13.470
Whoever among you worshipped Muhammad, peace be upon him,

00:08:13.470 --> 00:08:16.350
then Muhammad has indeed died.

00:08:16.350 --> 00:08:18.990
And whoever among you worshipped Allah,

00:08:18.990 --> 00:08:22.189
then Allah is Ever-Living and does not die."

00:08:22.189 --> 00:08:25.230
Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, said:

00:08:25.230 --> 00:08:32.350
"Muhammad is not but a messenger. [Other] messengers have passed on before him.

00:08:32.350 --> 00:08:35.389
So if he was to die or be killed,

00:08:35.389 --> 00:08:38.429
would you turn back on your heels?

00:08:38.429 --> 00:08:44.830
And he who turns back on his heels will never harm Allah at all;

00:08:44.830 --> 00:08:48.509
but Allah will reward the grateful."

00:08:48.509 --> 00:08:51.549
Ibn 'Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, said,

00:08:51.549 --> 00:08:56.909
"By Allah, it was as if the people did not know that Allah had revealed this verse

00:08:56.909 --> 00:08:59.549
until Abu Bakr recited it.

00:08:59.549 --> 00:09:02.350
Then all the people received it from him,

00:09:02.350 --> 00:09:06.590
and I heard everyone reciting it."

00:09:06.850 --> 00:09:09.250
'Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said,

00:09:09.250 --> 00:09:13.570
"By Allah, as soon as I heard Abu Bakr recite it,

00:09:13.570 --> 00:09:17.730
I was struck down until my legs could not support me,

00:09:17.730 --> 00:09:22.049
and I fell to the ground when I heard him recite it.

00:09:22.049 --> 00:09:27.279
I knew then that the Prophet, peace be upon him, had died."

00:09:27.279 --> 00:09:28.799
Ibn 'Umar said,

00:09:28.799 --> 00:09:31.600
"When Abu Bakr read the verse,

00:09:31.600 --> 00:09:36.000
it was as if there had been veils over our faces that were then lifted."

00:09:36.860 --> 00:09:42.019
Treasures of the Prophetic biography (Seerah).

00:09:42.019 --> 00:09:48.850
The inheritance of the Prophet, peace be upon him.

00:09:48.850 --> 00:09:51.570
'Amr ibn al-Harith said:

00:09:51.570 --> 00:09:57.970
"The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, did not leave behind a dinar, a slave, or a maidservant,

00:09:57.970 --> 00:10:03.629
except for his white mule that he used to ride, and his weapons."

00:10:03.629 --> 00:10:05.629
Finally, we say:

00:10:05.629 --> 00:10:07.629
Everyone dies.

00:10:07.629 --> 00:10:09.629
The disobedient die,

00:10:09.710 --> 00:10:11.710
and the obedient die.

00:10:11.710 --> 00:10:13.710
The messengers die,

00:10:13.710 --> 00:10:15.710
and the enemies of the messengers die.

00:10:15.710 --> 00:10:17.710
Those who are near and those who are far,

00:10:17.710 --> 00:10:21.710
the rich and the poor,

00:10:21.710 --> 00:10:23.710
the old and the young,

00:10:23.710 --> 00:10:25.710
the men and the women,

00:10:25.710 --> 00:10:27.710
everyone dies.

00:10:27.710 --> 00:10:31.740
Where are the mighty Chosroes of old?

00:10:31.740 --> 00:10:35.740
They gathered treasures, yet neither the treasures remained nor did they.

00:10:35.740 --> 00:10:39.259
Everyone whose army filled the vast expanse of the earth,

00:10:39.259 --> 00:10:43.259
eventually fell, and a narrow grave contained him.

00:10:43.259 --> 00:10:46.779
They are silent when called, as if they never knew

00:10:46.779 --> 00:10:50.299
that speech was once theirs to command.

00:10:50.299 --> 00:10:54.299
Death is coming, and souls are precious,

00:10:54.299 --> 00:10:58.399
and the one deceived by what he possesses is a fool.

00:10:58.399 --> 00:11:00.399
Allah, the Blessed and Exalted,

00:11:00.399 --> 00:11:03.600
moved His Prophet, peace be upon him,

00:11:03.600 --> 00:11:05.600
from this fleeting abode

00:11:05.600 --> 00:11:07.600
to eternal bliss,

00:11:07.840 --> 00:11:11.120
in a lofty station and a high degree,

00:11:11.120 --> 00:11:15.120
in Paradise, than which there is nothing higher or more sublime,

00:11:15.120 --> 00:11:17.120
Just as the Almighty said:

00:11:17.120 --> 00:11:21.120
“And verily the latter portion will be better for thee than the former,” (93:4)

00:11:21.120 --> 00:11:25.120
“And verily thy Lord will give unto thee so that thou wilt be content.” (93:5)

00:11:25.120 --> 00:11:29.220
After he had completed the mission of the message,

00:11:29.220 --> 00:11:31.220
Which Allah the Almighty commanded him to convey,

00:11:31.220 --> 00:11:33.220
And he gave sincere counsel to his Ummah,

00:11:33.220 --> 00:11:37.220
And guided them to the best of what he knew for them,

00:11:37.220 --> 00:11:41.220
And warned them and forbade them from what would harm them,

00:11:41.220 --> 00:11:43.220
In their worldly life and their hereafter.

00:11:43.220 --> 00:11:45.379
The Blessed and Exalted said:

00:11:45.379 --> 00:11:49.379
﴾Every soul shall taste death.﴿

00:11:49.379 --> 00:11:55.379
And He said: ﴾Indeed, you are to die, and indeed, they are to die.﴿

00:11:55.379 --> 00:11:59.379
And He said: ﴾Muhammad is not but a messenger.﴿

00:11:59.379 --> 00:12:01.379
﴾[Other] messengers have passed on before him.﴿

00:12:01.379 --> 00:12:03.379
﴾So if he were to die or be killed,﴿

00:12:03.379 --> 00:12:05.379
﴾Would you turn back on your heels?﴿

00:12:05.379 --> 00:12:07.379
“Muhammad is but a messenger, messengers (the like of whom) have passed away before him. Will it be that, when he dieth or is slain, ye will turn back on your heels? He who turneth back on his heels doth no hurt to Allah, and Allah will reward the thankful.” (3:144)

00:12:07.379 --> 00:12:09.379
“Muhammad is but a messenger, messengers (the like of whom) have passed away before him. Will it be that, when he dieth or is slain, ye will turn back on your heels? He who turneth back on his heels doth no hurt to Allah, and Allah will reward the thankful.” (3:144)

00:12:09.379 --> 00:12:11.379
﴾And Allah will reward the grateful.﴿

00:12:11.379 --> 00:12:13.379
And the Blessed and Exalted said:

00:12:13.379 --> 00:12:17.379
“We appointed immortality for no mortal before thee. What! if thou diest, can they be immortal!” (21:34)

00:12:17.379 --> 00:12:21.379
﴾If he dies, are they the ones to remain forever?﴿

00:12:21.379 --> 00:12:23.379
And the Almighty said:

00:12:23.379 --> 00:12:27.379
“And cry not unto any other god along with Allah. There is no Allah save Him. Everything will perish save His countenance. His is the command, and unto Him ye will be brought back.” (28:88)

00:12:27.379 --> 00:12:31.379
And He said: ﴾Everyone upon the earth will perish.﴿

00:12:31.379 --> 00:12:35.379
And He said: ﴾Everyone upon the earth will perish.﴿

00:12:35.379 --> 00:12:39.379
“There remaineth but the Countenance of thy Lord of Might and Glory.” (55:27)

00:12:45.580 --> 00:12:49.580
The lamentation for the Prophet, peace be upon him.

00:12:49.580 --> 00:12:56.340
Much poetry was recited regarding the passing of the Prophet, peace be upon him.

00:12:56.340 --> 00:12:58.340
There is a great deal of such poetry.

00:12:58.340 --> 00:13:00.370
Among that which was said is:

00:13:00.370 --> 00:13:04.370
"The past generations have never lost the likes of Muhammad,

00:13:04.370 --> 00:13:08.370
Nor will his like be lost until the Day of Resurrection."

00:13:08.370 --> 00:13:12.620
Abu Sufyan Ibn al-Harith said,

00:13:12.620 --> 00:13:16.850
The cousin of the Prophet, peace be upon him:

00:13:16.850 --> 00:13:18.850
"My eyes were kept awake, and my night would not pass,

00:13:18.850 --> 00:13:22.850
And the night of one afflicted with such a tragedy is long.

00:13:22.850 --> 00:13:26.850
Weeping brought me relief, for that which has afflicted

00:13:26.850 --> 00:13:30.940
The Muslims is a grave matter.

00:13:30.940 --> 00:13:32.940
Our calamity has become immense and overwhelming,

00:13:32.940 --> 00:13:36.940
On the evening it was said that the Messenger had been taken.

00:13:36.940 --> 00:13:40.940
Our earth has become, because of what has befallen it,

00:13:40.940 --> 00:13:42.940
As if its very foundations are trembling beneath us.

00:13:42.940 --> 00:13:46.940
We have lost the revelation and the descent of the Qur'an among us,

00:13:46.940 --> 00:13:50.940
Which Gabriel would bring and take away.

00:13:50.940 --> 00:13:56.940
That is the most deserving of what people’s souls should weep over, or nearly weep.

00:13:56.940 --> 00:14:01.070
A Prophet who would dispel our doubts

00:14:01.070 --> 00:14:05.070
Through what was revealed to him and what he would say.

00:14:05.070 --> 00:14:09.070
He would guide us, so we feared no misguidance,

00:14:09.070 --> 00:14:13.070
While the Messenger was our guide.

00:14:13.070 --> 00:14:15.070
O Fatimah, if you grieve, that is an excuse,

00:14:15.070 --> 00:14:19.070
And if you do not grieve, that is also a path.

00:14:19.070 --> 00:14:23.070
For your father’s grave is the master of all graves,

00:14:23.070 --> 00:14:27.169
And within it lies the master of mankind, the Messenger."

00:14:27.169 --> 00:14:31.169
Among that which was recited in lamentation for him, peace be upon him,

00:14:31.169 --> 00:14:35.299
Is what Abdullah Ibn Unays said:

00:14:35.299 --> 00:14:39.299
"My night has grown long, and calamities have beset me,

00:14:39.299 --> 00:14:43.299
And a grave matter has gathered all misfortunes.

00:14:43.299 --> 00:14:47.299
Our morning came with the announcer of Muhammad’s death to us,

00:14:47.299 --> 00:14:51.299
A sound that makes the ears deafen.

00:14:51.299 --> 00:14:55.299
If the death of a soul could be averted by the death of my own, I would have sacrificed it,

00:14:55.299 --> 00:14:59.299
But no one can avert death when it comes.

00:14:59.299 --> 00:15:03.299
I swore that I would not praise the dead

00:15:03.299 --> 00:15:07.299
Among men, as long as Mount Thabir and the mountain pass remain,

00:15:07.299 --> 00:15:11.299
But I am weeping for him and following

00:15:11.299 --> 00:15:15.299
His tragedy, for to Allah I belong and to Him I shall return."

00:15:15.299 --> 00:15:19.490
With this, we were commanded to speak.

00:15:19.490 --> 00:15:23.779
“Who say, when a misfortune striketh them: Lo! we are Allah's and lo! unto Him we are returning.” (2:156)

00:15:23.779 --> 00:15:27.779
Lamenting the Prophet, peace be upon him,

00:15:27.779 --> 00:15:31.779
Hassan Ibn Thabit, may Allah be pleased with him,

00:15:31.779 --> 00:15:35.779
Lamented the Prophet, peace be upon him,

00:15:35.779 --> 00:15:39.779
Saying: "In Taybah (Madinah) there is a trace and a station of the Messenger,

00:15:39.779 --> 00:15:43.840
Radiant, though traces may fade and become desolate.

00:15:43.840 --> 00:15:47.840
The signs of a sacred house do not vanish,

00:15:47.840 --> 00:15:51.840
Where the pulpit of the Guide, which he used to ascend, stood.

00:15:51.840 --> 00:15:55.840
There are chambers and remaining landmarks,

00:15:55.840 --> 00:15:59.940
And a courtyard for him, containing a place of prayer and a mosque.

00:15:59.940 --> 00:16:03.940
There are chambers where there would descend into their midst

00:16:03.940 --> 00:16:07.940
A light from Allah, illuminating and burning bright.

00:16:07.940 --> 00:16:11.940
Landmarks whose signs have not been erased by the passage of time,

00:16:11.940 --> 00:16:15.940
Though decay has reached them, their signs are renewed.

00:16:15.940 --> 00:16:19.940
I recognized the trace of the Messenger and his station there,

00:16:19.940 --> 00:16:23.940
May no one who is buried in the earth be like him.

00:16:23.940 --> 00:16:27.940
I remained there weeping for the Messenger, and my eyes were aided

00:16:27.940 --> 00:16:31.940
By other eyes, and likewise, the eyelids shed tears.

00:16:31.940 --> 00:16:35.940
They recall the favors of the Messenger, and I see no one

00:16:35.940 --> 00:16:40.100
Who can enumerate them, so my soul is stunned."

00:16:40.100 --> 00:16:44.100
Hassan also said:

00:16:44.100 --> 00:16:48.100
"What is the matter with your eyes that they do not sleep, as if

00:16:48.100 --> 00:16:52.100
Out of grief for the Guided One who has now become a resident of the grave?

00:16:52.100 --> 00:16:56.100
O best of those who have walked upon the earth, do not depart!

00:16:56.100 --> 00:17:00.100
Woe to the Ansar of the Prophet and his kin,

00:17:00.100 --> 00:17:04.099
After his disappearance into the depths of the grave.

00:17:04.099 --> 00:17:08.099
May my side be shielded from the dust; I wish, alas, that I

00:17:08.099 --> 00:17:12.099
Were the one buried in the grave instead of him.

00:17:12.099 --> 00:17:16.099
O son of Aminah, whose mention is blessed,

00:17:16.099 --> 00:17:20.289
Born of a chaste woman, in the most auspicious of times."

00:17:20.289 --> 00:17:24.319
And Ka'b Ibn Malik said: "O eye, weep

00:17:24.319 --> 00:17:28.319
With flowing tears for the best of creation and the Chosen One.

00:17:28.319 --> 00:17:32.319
Weep for the Messenger, for he is worthy of being wept over,

00:17:32.319 --> 00:17:36.319
In times of war and at the meeting of armies.

00:17:36.319 --> 00:17:40.319
For the best of those whom a she-camel has carried,

00:17:40.319 --> 00:17:44.319
And the most pious of creation in times of piety.

00:17:44.319 --> 00:17:48.319
A delight to the army, the best of mankind, and the best of those who give.

00:17:48.319 --> 00:17:52.319
He possesses a lineage above all mankind,

00:17:52.319 --> 00:17:56.319
From Hashim, he is the one hoped for.

00:17:56.319 --> 00:18:00.319
We single out what he possessed of virtue,

00:18:00.319 --> 00:18:04.319
For he was a lamp for us in the darkness,

00:18:04.319 --> 00:18:08.319
And he was a bringer of glad tidings and a warner,

00:18:08.319 --> 00:18:12.319
And a light for us, whose radiance has shone.

00:18:12.319 --> 00:18:16.799
He saved us by his mercy from the blazing fire."

00:18:16.799 --> 00:18:20.799
And there is much other poetry besides this,

00:18:20.799 --> 00:18:25.059
Of what was said about our Messenger Muhammad, peace be upon him.

00:18:25.059 --> 00:18:29.059
From Umm Salamah, may Allah be pleased with her, who said:

00:18:29.059 --> 00:18:33.059
After the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, was buried,

00:18:33.059 --> 00:18:37.059
At the dawn of Thursday, Bilal gave the call to prayer for the dawn.

00:18:37.059 --> 00:18:41.059
When he mentioned the Prophet, peace be upon him,

00:18:41.059 --> 00:18:45.339
It increased our sorrow.

00:18:45.339 --> 00:18:49.339
He, peace be upon him, was buried in the chamber of 'A'ishah,

00:18:49.339 --> 00:18:53.339
May Allah be pleased with her. When Abu Bakr died,

00:18:53.339 --> 00:18:57.339
He was buried with him, and his head was between the shoulders of the Prophet, peace be upon him.

00:18:57.339 --> 00:19:01.380
When 'Umar died, he was buried with them,

00:19:01.380 --> 00:19:05.380
And his head was at the feet of the Prophet, peace be upon him.

00:19:05.380 --> 00:19:09.410
When the wall of 'A'ishah’s house collapsed,

00:19:09.410 --> 00:19:14.410
The house of 'A'ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, in the time of al-Walid Ibn 'Abd al-Malik,

00:19:14.410 --> 00:19:24.410
They began to rebuild it, and a foot appeared to them; they were alarmed and thought it was the foot of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him.

00:19:24.410 --> 00:19:31.410
No one could be found who knew that, until 'Urwah Ibn al-Zubayr Ibn al-'Awwam said to them:

00:19:31.410 --> 00:19:35.049
"It is nothing but the foot of 'Umar."

00:19:35.049 --> 00:19:37.049
Treasures of the Prophetic biography (Seerah).
