This occurs when a Muslim finds himself, along with a small number of his brethren, in a society that has turned away from the law of Allah, the Almighty and Majestic.
A society in which acts of disobedience have become widespread.
And in which deviant concepts regarding creed and conduct have proliferated.
Consequently, the one who holds fast to his religion feels a sense of alienation.
He fears for himself deviation and a lack of steadfastness in the faith.
For the one who holds fast to his religion during times of tribulation,
Is like one grasping a burning coal.
As has been mentioned in the authentic hadith.
The praise and commendation of these strangers has been recorded in the words of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him:
"Glad tidings to the strangers."
It was asked, "Who are the strangers, O Messenger of Allah?"
He replied:
