A hadith and commentary.
The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:
"Whoever sees something from their leader that they dislike, let them be patient,
for there is no one who separates from the community by even a span and then dies,
but that they die a death of the pre-Islamic era of ignorance (Jahiliyyah)."
Agreed upon.
Commentary:
Hearing and obeying [the leaders] and adhering to the community are among the fundamental principles of the Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah.
As for rebelling, acting unilaterally, and disputing the authority of those in power,
these are among the hallmarks of the people of misguidance,
among whom are the Khawarij and the Mu'tazilah.
