A summary of the concepts held by the Ahl al-Sunnah.
The utility of one's faculties and the devotion required of one's time.
The seeker traveling toward Allah realizes that every one of his faculties has a specific utility.
Just as every moment of his time has a specific form of devotion.
He knows that Allah has commanded and forbidden certain things regarding every one of his faculties.
And that in each of them, Allah has bestowed a blessing upon him.
Whoever fulfills the command of Allah regarding a particular faculty,
And avoids what He has forbidden, has rendered thanks for His blessing.
Whoever renders thanks for a blessing has perfected its benefit and completed his enjoyment of it.
He also knows that for every moment of his time, there is a form of devotion that advances him toward his Lord and draws him nearer to Him.
If he occupies his time with that devotion, he advances toward his Lord.
But if he occupies it with whims, leisure, or idleness, he regresses.
Thus, the servant is always either advancing or regressing.
There is absolutely no standing still on this path.
Allah the Exalted says: ﴾For whoever among you wills to advance or to regress.﴿
He did not mention anyone standing in place.
For there is no station between Paradise and the Fire.
And there is no path for the traveler other than these two abodes.
So whoever does not advance toward Paradise through righteous deeds,
Has regressed toward the Fire through evil deeds.
