A new challenge: Who am I?
I am one of the female Companions who migrated.
I am one of the Mothers of the Believers.
I am the fourth wife of the noble Messenger, peace be upon him.
I am the daughter of the second Caliph of the Muslims.
I was known for my eloquence and rhetorical skill.
I embraced Islam in Makkah alongside my father.
I married Khunays ibn Hudhafah al-Sahmi, may Allah be pleased with him.
He had also embraced Islam early on.
Before the Messenger, peace be upon him, entered the house of al-Arqam.
I migrated with my husband, Khunays, to Madinah.
He was wounded at the Battle of Uhud.
He passed away shortly thereafter.
I became a widow.
This weighed heavily upon my father.
He wanted to console me.
He began searching for a righteous husband for me.
His choice fell upon Uthman ibn Affan, may Allah be pleased with him.
He went to him and proposed that he marry me.
Uthman replied, "I have no desire to marry at this time."
Then he offered me to Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him.
Abu Bakr remained silent.
He did not return with an answer.
My father was overcome with distress.
He felt hurt by Abu Bakr’s reaction.
We remained in that state for several nights.
Then the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, asked my father for my hand in marriage.
We were overjoyed.
My father gave me to him in marriage.
Later, Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, came.
He apologized to my father and said:
"Nothing prevented me from marrying your daughter when you offered her to me."
"Except that I knew the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, had mentioned her."
"And I could not disclose his secret."
"Had he, peace be upon him, left her, I would have accepted."
I was a woman of intense jealousy.
It was difficult for me to control myself.
This was the reason for my divorce.
The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, divorced me once.
I was overcome with grief and began to weep.
This was a great burden upon my father.
Then Gabriel, peace be upon him, came to the Prophet, peace be upon him.
He said to him:
"Allah commands you to take her back."
"For she is one who fasts often and prays much at night."
"And she is your wife in Paradise."
After the passing of the Messenger, peace be upon him.
The Wars of Apostasy took place.
Many of the Qur'an reciters died.
Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, compiled the Mushaf.
So that the Qur'an would not be lost with the death of those who had memorized it.
Then the Mushaf came to my father.
Upon his death, he entrusted me with the preservation of the Mushaf.
It came into my possession.
This original Mushaf remained with me.
Until Uthman, may Allah be pleased with him, requested it from me.
He made copies of it and then returned it to me.
