He replied, "If you wish, I will remove the arrow and the arrowhead."

"And if you wish, I will remove the arrow and leave the arrowhead."

"And I will bear witness for you on the Day of Resurrection that you are a martyr."

I said, "Rather, remove the arrow and leave the arrowhead, O Messenger of Allah."

So the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, removed the arrow and left the arrowhead.

I lived with it until the days of Mu'awiyah, may Allah be pleased with him.
