Among the beauties of the Prophetic biography.
Ease and mercy.
He emerges from the remote desert,
with his harsh coarseness,
his unkempt appearance,
and his speech steeped in severity and strangeness.
He enters the mosque, illuminated by remembrance and spiritual breezes,
and commits his heinous act within it.
The people cry out,
but the Chosen One, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, treats him with gentleness,
saying, "Leave him, leave him."
Yes.
The story of the Bedouin who urinated in the mosque,
a place of purity and serenity,
of reverence and sanctity.
Yet he was unaware of all that.
Anas, may Allah be pleased with him, said:
"While we were in the mosque with the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him,
a Bedouin came,
and stood up to urinate in the mosque.
The Companions of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said,
'Stop, stop!'
He said:
The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said,
'Do not interrupt him; leave him.'
So they left him until he finished urinating.
Then the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, called him
and said to him,
'These mosques
are not suitable for any of this urine or filth;
they are only for the remembrance of Allah, the Almighty and Majestic,
for prayer, and for the recitation of the Qur'an,'
or as the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said.
He said:
Then he ordered a man from the people,
who brought a bucket of water,
and poured it over the spot.
Despite the severity of the situation and the anger of the Companions,
the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, treated him with gentleness,
showed mercy toward his ignorance and his unfamiliarity,
and taught him in the best possible manner.
For rebuking him immediately
would have spread the filth
and alienated the man.
He said to the Companions,
'You were sent to make things easy,
and you were not sent to make things difficult.'
The man could not help himself after this gentle treatment
but to express his inner state
and his unique perspective,
saying, 'O Allah, have mercy on me and on Muhammad,
and do not have mercy on anyone else with us.'
The Prophet, peace be upon him, said,
'You have narrowed something vast,'
meaning you have constricted that which is wide.
In this is a clear demonstration of kind, merciful interaction
and beautiful forbearance.
And Allah is the Grantor of success.
