00:00:00.460 --> 00:00:05.040
The Garden of Guidance.

00:00:05.040 --> 00:00:07.540
Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, has said:

00:00:07.540 --> 00:00:35.380
“Lo! those who read the Scripture of Allah, and establish worship, and spend of that which We have bestowed on them secretly and openly, they look forward to imperishable gain,” (35:29)

00:00:39.880 --> 00:00:46.939
"Upon every soul, for every day the sun rises, there is a charity due from it on its own behalf."

00:00:46.939 --> 00:00:53.170
I asked, "O Messenger of Allah, from where shall I give charity when we possess no wealth?"

00:00:54.299 --> 00:00:58.299
He replied, "Indeed, among the doors of charity are saying 'Allahu Akbar' (Allah is the Greatest),"

00:00:58.299 --> 00:01:01.299
"and 'SubhanAllah' (Glory be to Allah), and 'Alhamdulillah' (Praise be to Allah),"

00:01:01.299 --> 00:01:04.299
"and 'La ilaha illa Allah' (There is no god but Allah),"

00:01:04.299 --> 00:01:06.299
"and seeking forgiveness from Allah,"

00:01:06.299 --> 00:01:08.299
"and enjoining the good,"

00:01:08.299 --> 00:01:10.299
"and forbidding the evil,"

00:01:10.299 --> 00:01:14.299
"and removing thorns, bones, or stones from the path of the people,"

00:01:14.299 --> 00:01:16.299
"and guiding the blind,"

00:01:16.299 --> 00:01:20.299
"and helping the deaf and the mute to understand until they comprehend,"

00:01:20.299 --> 00:01:25.299
"and directing the one who seeks guidance to a need of his whose location you know,"

00:01:25.299 --> 00:01:30.299
"and hastening with the strength of your legs to the aid of the distressed who calls for help,"

00:01:30.299 --> 00:01:34.299
"and lifting with the strength of your arms the weak,"

00:01:34.299 --> 00:01:38.299
"all of that is a form of charity from you on your own behalf."

00:01:38.299 --> 00:01:42.390
"And you have a reward in your intimacy with your wife."

00:01:42.390 --> 00:01:44.390
Abu Dharr asked,

00:01:44.390 --> 00:01:47.420
"How can I have a reward for satisfying my desire?"

00:01:47.420 --> 00:01:51.420
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, replied,

00:01:51.420 --> 00:01:53.420
"Tell me, if you had a child,"

00:01:53.420 --> 00:01:55.420
"and he grew up, and you hoped for his goodness,"

00:01:55.420 --> 00:01:57.420
"then he died,"

00:01:57.420 --> 00:01:59.420
"would you seek the reward from Allah for him?"

00:01:59.420 --> 00:02:01.420
I said, "Yes."

00:02:01.420 --> 00:02:02.420
He said,

00:02:02.420 --> 00:02:04.420
"Did you create him?"

00:02:04.420 --> 00:02:05.489
He replied,

00:02:05.489 --> 00:02:07.489
"Rather, Allah created him."

00:02:07.489 --> 00:02:09.580
He said,

00:02:09.580 --> 00:02:11.580
"Did you guide him?"

00:02:11.580 --> 00:02:12.580
He replied,

00:02:12.580 --> 00:02:14.580
"Rather, Allah guided him."

00:02:14.580 --> 00:02:15.710
He said,

00:02:15.710 --> 00:02:17.710
"Did you provide for him?"

00:02:17.710 --> 00:02:18.710
He replied,

00:02:18.710 --> 00:02:20.710
"Rather, Allah provides for him."

00:02:20.710 --> 00:02:22.780
He said,

00:02:22.780 --> 00:02:24.780
"Likewise, place it in what is lawful,"

00:02:24.780 --> 00:02:27.780
"and avoid what is unlawful,"

00:02:27.780 --> 00:02:29.780
"then if Allah wills, He will keep him alive,"

00:02:29.780 --> 00:02:31.780
"and if He wills, He will cause him to die,"

00:02:31.780 --> 00:02:33.780
"and you shall have a reward."

00:02:33.780 --> 00:02:36.060
Narrated by Ahmad.

00:02:36.060 --> 00:02:38.189
And in another narration:

00:02:38.189 --> 00:02:43.189
"And two rak'ahs performed during the forenoon (Duha) suffice for all of that."

00:02:43.189 --> 00:02:45.289
Narrated by Muslim.

00:02:45.289 --> 00:02:48.659
A benefit:

00:02:48.659 --> 00:02:53.659
If the People of the Heights (Ashab al-A'raf) had added but one single good deed to their scale,

00:02:53.659 --> 00:02:55.659
their scales would have been heavy,

00:02:55.659 --> 00:02:58.659
and they would have become among the people of Paradise.

00:02:58.659 --> 00:03:01.699
So hasten before you depart.

00:03:01.699 --> 00:03:05.270
Al-Sha'bi, may Allah the Exalted have mercy on him, said:

00:03:05.270 --> 00:03:09.270
"Whoever does not see himself as being in greater need of the reward of charity"

00:03:09.270 --> 00:03:12.270
"than the poor person is in need of the charity itself,"

00:03:12.270 --> 00:03:14.270
"has nullified his charity,"

00:03:14.270 --> 00:03:16.270
"and it will be struck back against his own face."

00:03:16.270 --> 00:03:18.270
Sometimes.
