A summary of the concepts held by the Ahl al-Sunnah.
Knowledge of the Beautiful Names of Allah and His Exalted Attributes.
This realizes both fear and hope.
The more a servant knows of Allah,
The more he fears and stands in awe of Him.
As the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:
"Indeed, I am the most God-fearing and the most knowledgeable of Allah among you."
Narrated by al-Bukhari.
So, whoever knows Allah, the Almighty and Majestic,
Through His Beautiful Names and Exalted Attributes,
Will recognize the greatness and power of Allah, glorified be He.
He will know that He hears all that can be heard,
And sees all that can be seen.
He will know His knowledge of the unseen and the manifest,
And all that is concealed within hearts and souls.
He will also know the greatness of Allah’s retribution
Against those who disobey Him and associate partners with Him.
Whoever knows all of this,
And possesses a sound heart,
It will inevitably instill in him
Fear of Allah, the Exalted.
And reverence for Him in both private and public.
And since the angels are the most knowledgeable
Of all creatures regarding Allah, the Glorified, and His attributes,
They are the most fearful of Allah, the Exalted.
As the Almighty and Majestic said:
“He knoweth what is before them and what is behind them, and they cannot intercede except for him whom He accepteth, and they quake for awe of Him.” (21:28)
Furthermore, knowledge of the Beautiful Names of Allah
And His Exalted Attributes also realizes
Hope.
For whoever knows about his Lord
That He is the Forgiving, the Loving,
The Compassionate, the Bestower,
The Near, the One who answers prayers,
Who rejoices at the repentance of His servant,
Whoever knows all this about his Lord,
His hope in Him and His reward will intensify.
He recognizes the saying of Allah, the Exalted:
“And when My servants question thee concerning Me, then surely I am nigh. I answer the prayer of the suppliant when he crieth unto Me. So let them hear My call and let them trust in Me, in order that they may be led aright.” (2:186)
"Indeed, I am near."

Thus, he seeks the nearness of Allah and finds comfort in Him,
And calls upon Him with everything he loves.
