A summary of the concepts held by the Ahl al-Sunnah.
Wishing well for the Muslims.
Among the noble character traits is wishing well for the Muslims.
The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:
"None of you truly believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself."
Agreed upon.
Among the requirements of this love
is that one dislikes for them what he dislikes for himself,
and that the heart is purified of hatred, malice, and envy toward any of the Muslims.
It also includes desiring the unity of the Muslims,
especially the unity of the callers to Islam and those striving in the path of Allah.
This is because of the immense benefit it brings to all Muslims.
It also involves rejecting bigotry and detestable factionalism.
This applies to those among the Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah
who are in agreement regarding the fundamental principles,
even if they differ on some subsidiary issues.
Disagreement in such matters should not lead to discord, division, or hostility.
As for the people of innovation and whims,
they are the ones who divide into sects,
and they are the people of division and discord.
The Ahl al-Sunnah dissociate from them and do not take them as allies, out of loyalty to their religion,
and to protect themselves from deviation and misguidance.
However, the Ahl al-Sunnah may, in times of weakness,
find it necessary to form alliances with people of innovation who are still of the Qiblah,
in order to repel a disbelieving enemy that seeks to overrun Muslim lands and erase the religion.
This is a matter of sound fiqh.
