The literature of sitting with scholars
Al-Hassan bin Ali, may God be pleased with them, said
He died in the year fifty-one AH
He said to his son
My son
If you sit with scholars
Be careful to listen more than you speak
And learn to listen well
You also learn good silence
Do not interrupt anyone's conversation, even if it is long
Until he catches
The scholars are your sheikhs whom you studied
If you attend them
He came with calm and dignity
Do not back down or interrupt
So he gives you permission to speak
And your technique is science
Before speaking, following, and correcting
How beautiful is the student who listens and approaches his sheikh with all politeness and reverence
Give him face
He accepts with his mind and listens with his interest
It is also etiquette
Perfect listening
Come with wisdom, kindness and benefit
We learn it as we learn the goodness of absolute silence
With whom there is no talk or review
Including being polite to the speaker
Even if he talked for a long time and talked a lot
As long as he is in the rank of sheikhdom
It is based on teaching and benefiting others
He listens to him without boredom or disdain
His speech is restricted and his benefits are recorded
Because science requires patience and attention
Not laziness or escape
He does not go out unless necessary
It is the etiquette of the council in the Sunnah
Hadith of the three men
In the two Sahihs on the authority of Abu Waqid Al-Laythi, may God be pleased with him
That the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace
While he was sitting in the mosque and people were with him
As a group of three arrived
Two of them came to the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace
And one went
He said: So he stopped at the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace
As for one of them
He saw a gap in the circle and sat in it
As for the other, he sat behind them
As for the third, he turned away and left
When the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, finished, he said
Shall I not tell you about the three men?
As for one of them
So he sought refuge in God, and God sheltered him
As for the other
So he was ashamed, so God was ashamed of him
As for the other
So they turned away, and God turned away from him
Al-Nawawi, may God have mercy on him, said
As for the third, he turned away, so God turned away from him
That is, he did not have mercy on him
It was said that he was angry with him
This is interpreted as gold
No excuse or necessity
And peace
