has come in the perfect revelation (the Qur'an), 00:04:37.490 --> 00:04:41.009 Regarding their virtue, that which heals the thirst of the soul. 00:04:41.009 --> 00:04:43.810 And in the hadiths and the reports, 00:04:43.810 --> 00:04:46.850 And in the words of the people and the poetry: 00:04:46.930 --> 00:04:49.170 Loving the Companions is faith, 00:04:49.170 --> 00:04:51.170 And hating them is hypocrisy. 00:04:51.170 --> 00:04:54.930 Loving them is religion, belief, and compassion. 00:04:54.930 --> 00:04:58.769 It is mandatory to keep our tongues and hearts safe from insulting them, foundations of the Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah, 00:05:07.889 --> 00:05:09.889 Is the soundness of their hearts, 00:05:09.889 --> 00:05:12.930 And their tongues toward the Companions of the Messenger of Loving all the Companions is my creed, 00:06:08.050 --> 00:06:11.410 And through the love of the Prophet's kin, I seek nearness to Allah. 00:06:11.410 --> 00:06:14.449 Imam al-Awza'i, may Allah have mercy on him, said: 00:06:14.449 --> 00:06:16.449 "If you see a man, 00:06:16.449 --> 00:06:19.730 Criticizing any of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah, 00:06:19.730 --> 00:06:22.290 May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, 00:06:22.290 --> 00:06:24.769 Then know that he is a heretic (zindiq). 00:06:24.769 --> 00:06:28.370 This is because the Messenger, peace be upon him, --> 00:06:37.730 May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, 00:06:37.730 --> 00:06:40.209 Who conveyed this Qur'an and the Sunnah to us. 00:06:40.209 --> 00:06:43.810 They (the critics) only want to discredit our witnesses, 00:06:43.810 --> 00:06:46.449 To invalidate the Book and the Sunnah. 00:06:46.449 --> 00:06:48.610 So whoever disparages the Companions, 00:06:48.610 --> 00:06:50.769 Disparages the Book of Allah, 00:06:50.769 --> 00:06:52.610 And the Sunnah of His Messenger, 00:06:52.610 --> 00:06:54.610 May Allah bless him and grant him peace." 00:06:54.610 --> 00:06:57.889 He said: "The disparagement falls upon those critics, 00:06:57.889 --> 00:06:59.889 And they are the heretics, 00:06:59.889 --> 00:07:03.089 By what they used to disparage the Companions of the Messenger of Allah, 00:07:03.089 --> 00:07:05.490 May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him." 00:07:05.490 --> 00:07:08.209 Imam Ahmad, may Allah have mercy on him, said: 00:07:08.209 --> 00:07:12.449 "It is not permissible for anyone to mention any of their faults, 00:07:12.449 --> 00:07:15.810 Nor to attack any one of them, 00:07:15.810 --> 00:07:17.170 Nor to belittle them." 00:07:17.170 --> 00:07:20.529 Imam Abu Nu'aym, may Allah have mercy on him, said: 00:07:20.529 --> 00:07:24.769 "No one follows the slips of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah, 00:07:24.769 --> 00:07:27.810 Except one whose heart is corrupted in his religion." 00:07:27.810 --> 00:07:29.649 The Companions of Muhammad, 00:07:29.649 --> 00:07:31.649 Are like the stars in the darkness, 00:07:31.649 --> 00:07:34.370 And like the full moon on a dark night. 00:07:34.370 --> 00:07:36.689 Through them, Allah strengthened the religion, 00:07:36.689 --> 00:07:39.970 And raised the sanctuary of firm monotheism. 00:07:40.050 --> 00:07:42.529 And through their patience and jihad, 00:07:42.529 --> 00:07:44.529 Allah spread the nation, 00:07:44.529 --> 00:07:46.290 And united the Ummah. 00:07:46.290 --> 00:07:49.490 A people who strove for Allah as He ought to be striven for, 00:07:49.490 --> 00:07:51.250 And opposed the enemies, 00:07:51.250 --> 00:07:52.850 They endured hardships, 00:07:52.850 --> 00:07:54.610 And bore difficulties, 00:07:54.610 --> 00:07:56.209 And abandoned their homelands, 00:07:56.209 --> 00:07:58.610 And parted from their spouses and brothers, 00:07:58.610 --> 00:08:00.610 And fathers and children. 00:08:00.610 --> 00:08:02.370 They are the banners of the nation, 00:08:02.370 --> 00:08:04.050 And the best of the Ummah, 00:08:04.050 --> 00:08:06.689 And the pillars of the Shari'ah for the Imams. 00:08:06.689 --> 00:08:08.689 They attained honor and elevation, 00:08:08.689 --> 00:08:10.689 And truthfulness and sacrifice, 00:08:10.689 --> 00:08:12.689 And devotion and sincerity, 00:08:12.689 --> 00:08:13.889 And speaking the truth. 00:08:13.889 --> 00:08:15.889 They preferred the everlasting things, 00:08:15.889 --> 00:08:17.889 Over the fleeting pleasures. 00:08:17.889 --> 00:08:19.889 Those are a people, 00:08:19.889 --> 00:08:21.889 Whose pride Allah has built, 00:08:21.889 --> 00:08:23.889 So there is no pride above theirs, 00:08:23.889 --> 00:08:25.889 Even if the pride were great. 00:08:25.889 --> 00:08:27.889 They are the people who, if they spoke, 00:08:27.889 --> 00:08:29.889 They were correct; if they called, 00:08:29.889 --> 00:08:31.889 They were answered; if they gave, 00:08:31.889 --> 00:08:33.889 They were generous and bountiful. 00:08:33.889 --> 00:08:35.889 So the doers cannot match, 00:08:35.889 --> 00:08:36.929 Their deeds, 00:08:37.090 --> 00:08:39.090 Even if they tried in times of calamity, 00:08:39.090 --> 00:08:40.129 And did their best. 00:08:40.129 --> 00:08:42.129 Their virtues are high, 00:08:42.129 --> 00:08:44.129 And their stances are precious, 00:08:44.129 --> 00:08:46.129 And their history is fragrant, 00:08:46.129 --> 00:08:48.129 And their precedence in good deeds is early. 00:08:48.129 --> 00:08:50.129 Among them is he for whom shook, 00:08:50.129 --> 00:08:52.129 The Throne of the Most Merciful. 00:08:52.129 --> 00:08:54.129 And among them is he who was washed, 00:08:54.129 --> 00:08:56.129 By the angels of the Bountiful. 00:08:56.129 --> 00:08:58.129 And among them is he who flew with his wings (in Paradise). 00:08:58.129 --> 00:09:00.129 And among them is he who spent all that he possessed. 00:09:00.129 --> 00:09:02.129 And among them is the Trustworthy (al-Amin). 00:09:02.129 --> 00:09:04.129 And among them is the scholar, 00:09:04.129 --> 00:09:06.129 Of the clear revelation. 00:09:06.129 --> 00:09:08.129 And among them is he to whom the Most Merciful sent greetings. 00:09:08.129 --> 00:09:10.129 And among them is he to whom were sent greetings, 00:09:10.129 --> 00:09:12.129 The angels of the Bestower. 00:09:12.129 --> 00:09:14.129 And among them is the martyr. 00:09:14.129 --> 00:09:16.129 Among them is the Lion of Allah. 00:09:16.129 --> 00:09:18.129 Among them is the drawn sword of Allah. 00:09:18.129 --> 00:09:20.129 Among them is the righteous, devout worshiper. 00:09:20.129 --> 00:09:22.129 Among them were those who possessed piety and asceticism. 00:09:22.129 --> 00:09:24.129 Among them is the one who possesses knowledge of the laws of inheritance. 00:09:24.129 --> 00:09:26.129 Among them is the pioneering jurist. 00:09:26.129 --> 00:09:28.129 Among them is the one who possesses knowledge of the lawful and the prohibited. 00:09:28.129 --> 00:09:32.129 Among them are those who are in need and those who provide service. 00:09:32.129 --> 00:09:34.289 Among them is the keeper of the secret. 00:09:34.289 --> 00:09:36.289 Among them is the reciter who is also a warrior. 00:09:36.289 --> 00:09:39.289 And among them is he whom the angels are shy of. 00:09:39.289 --> 00:09:42.289 And among them are those from whom the Shaytan flees. 00:09:42.289 --> 00:09:44.289 Among them was the brave and valiant warrior. 00:09:44.289 --> 00:09:46.289 And the militant poet 00:09:46.289 --> 00:09:48.289 The Companions of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. 00:09:48.289 --> 00:09:51.289 May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. 00:09:51.289 --> 00:09:53.289 The most intellectually complete among the Ummah. 00:09:53.289 --> 00:09:56.289 And in terms of knowledge, religious commitment, and action. 00:09:56.289 --> 00:09:58.289 Ibn Mas'ud, may Allah be pleased with him, says: 00:09:58.289 --> 00:10:00.289 Whoever among you seeks to follow a path, let him follow the path of those who have already passed away, for the living are not safe from fitnah. 00:10:00.289 --> 00:10:02.289 Let him follow the example of those who have already passed away. 00:10:02.289 --> 00:10:05.289 For as long as one is alive, one is never safe from the trials of fitnah. 00:10:05.289 --> 00:10:07.289 Those are the Companions of Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. 00:10:07.289 --> 00:10:11.289 May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. 00:10:11.289 --> 00:10:13.289 Those are the Companions of Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. 00:10:13.289 --> 00:10:16.289 By Allah, they were the best of this Ummah. 00:10:16.289 --> 00:10:18.289 And they were the most righteous of them in heart. 00:10:18.289 --> 00:10:20.289 And the deepest of them in knowledge. 00:10:20.289 --> 00:10:22.289 And it is the least burdensome of them. 00:10:22.289 --> 00:10:25.289 A people whom Allah chose for the companionship of His Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. 00:10:25.289 --> 00:10:27.289 and the establishment of His religion. 00:10:27.289 --> 00:10:29.289 Thus, they recognized their merit. 00:10:29.289 --> 00:10:31.289 And follow in their footsteps. 00:10:31.289 --> 00:10:35.289 And hold fast, as much as you are able, to their character and their religion. 00:10:35.289 --> 00:10:38.289 For they were indeed upon the straight path of guidance. 00:10:38.289 --> 00:10:40.289 A people among whom have appeared 00:10:40.289 --> 00:10:42.289 Their love for the Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. 00:10:42.289 --> 00:10:44.289 May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. 00:10:44.289 --> 00:10:46.289 In times of hardship and ease. 00:10:46.289 --> 00:10:48.289 and in times of both ease and hardship. 00:10:48.289 --> 00:10:50.289 So they raced to defend him. 00:10:50.289 --> 00:10:52.289 And they supported him, honored him, and defended him. 00:10:52.289 --> 00:10:55.289 And honor him and revere him. 00:10:55.289 --> 00:10:57.289 And they protected him with their own bodies. 00:10:57.289 --> 00:10:58.289 and their blood. 00:10:58.289 --> 00:11:00.289 They have many illustrious moments. 00:11:00.289 --> 00:11:02.289 and honorable sacrifices. 00:11:02.289 --> 00:11:04.289 They are monks by night. 00:11:04.289 --> 00:11:07.289 And they recite the verses of the Qur'an with melodic beauty. 00:11:07.289 --> 00:11:10.289 And their eyes flowed with tears. 00:11:10.289 --> 00:11:12.289 And by day, they are knights. 00:11:12.289 --> 00:11:14.289 They engage in battles. 00:11:14.289 --> 00:11:16.289 And they descend into the field of action. 00:11:16.289 --> 00:11:18.289 Their hearts are tender. 00:11:18.289 --> 00:11:20.289 Their hearts are deeply rooted in tradition. 00:11:20.289 --> 00:11:22.289 Their reliance upon Allah is a true and genuine reality. 00:11:22.289 --> 00:11:24.289 They are a people who attained the honor of the Companionship of the Prophet. 00:11:24.289 --> 00:11:26.289 They attained the honor of the Companionship. 00:11:26.289 --> 00:11:28.289 And they attained the honor of that rank. 00:11:28.289 --> 00:11:31.289 Upon their creed, my own creed was built. 00:11:31.289 --> 00:11:34.289 And regarding their epistles, you have sought to understand them from me. 00:11:34.289 --> 00:11:37.289 Follow their path, for their way is my way. 00:11:37.289 --> 00:11:40.289 I always declare my innocence of my brother’s act of declaring me a disbeliever. 00:11:40.289 --> 00:11:42.289 A people who are the most just of all mankind. 00:11:42.289 --> 00:11:44.289 And the most truthful of people 00:11:44.289 --> 00:11:46.289 And the most knowledgeable of people 00:11:46.289 --> 00:11:48.289 And the most trustworthy of people 00:11:48.289 --> 00:11:51.289 This is a matter upon which there is consensus among the people. 00:11:51.289 --> 00:11:53.289 Some of the salaf said: 00:11:53.289 --> 00:11:54.289 Dust 00:11:54.289 --> 00:11:56.289 He entered into the matter concerning Mu'awiyah. 00:11:56.289 --> 00:11:57.289 with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him 00:11:57.289 --> 00:12:00.289 More excellent than the deeds of 'Umar ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz. 00:12:00.289 --> 00:12:02.289 May Allah be pleased with them all. 00:12:02.289 --> 00:12:03.289 Servants of Allah 00:12:03.289 --> 00:12:05.289 Reflect deeply upon these situations. 00:12:05.289 --> 00:12:08.289 which he, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, experienced. 00:12:08.289 --> 00:12:10.289 in the company of his noble Companions. 00:12:10.289 --> 00:12:12.289 In times of ease and in times of hardship. 00:12:12.289 --> 00:12:14.289 In times of hardship and ease. 00:12:14.289 --> 00:12:16.289 Reflect upon those with whom he spent it. 00:12:16.289 --> 00:12:19.289 Among them were his students who acquired knowledge from him. 00:12:19.289 --> 00:12:21.289 And among them is his army. 00:12:21.289 --> 00:12:23.289 Those through whom He fought against His enemies. 00:12:23.289 --> 00:12:25.289 Among them were those who sat in his company. 00:12:25.289 --> 00:12:27.289 And those whom he consulted. 00:12:27.289 --> 00:12:29.289 And among them are those who 00:12:29.289 --> 00:12:31.289 Among them are those who eat and drink with them. 00:12:31.289 --> 00:12:33.289 He travels and departs. 00:12:33.289 --> 00:12:35.289 He finds comfort in them and rejoices in their company. 00:12:35.289 --> 00:12:37.289 He loves them, and they love Him. 00:12:37.289 --> 00:12:39.289 He visits them, and they visit him. 00:12:39.289 --> 00:12:41.289 They bore the message and conveyed it. 00:12:41.289 --> 00:12:43.289 And they sacrificed their own selves. 00:12:43.289 --> 00:12:45.289 And they deemed it of little value. 00:12:45.289 Some of them have paid their vow by death (in battle), and some of them still are waiting; and they have not altered in the least;” (33:23) 00:12:49.289 --> 00:12:51.289 O Allah, reward them on our behalf. 00:12:51.289 --> 00:12:53.289 May He grant the best of rewards. 00:12:53.289 --> 00:12:55.289 May He unite us with them in the abode of eternity. 00:12:55.289 --> 00:12:57.289 O Allah, answer our prayer. 00:12:57.289 --> 00:12:59.289 May Allah bless me and you through the Magnificent Qur'an. 00:12:59.289 --> 00:13:01.289 And may He grant benefit to me and to you. 00:13:01.289 --> 00:13:03.289 containing within it the verses and the Wise Reminder. 00:13:03.289 --> 00:13:05.289 I say what you have heard. 00:13:05.289 --> 00:13:07.289 And seek the forgiveness of Allah for me and for yourselves. 00:13:07.289 --> 00:13:09.289 And for all the rest of the Muslims. 00:13:09.289 --> 00:13:11.289 So seek His forgiveness and turn to Him in repentance. 00:13:11.289 --> 00:13:15.299 Indeed, He is the All-Forgiving, the Most Merciful. 00:13:15.299 --> 00:13:18.139 All praise is due to Allah. 00:13:18.139 --> 00:13:20.139 And I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah. 00:13:20.139 --> 00:13:22.419 And I bear witness that Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, is His servant and messenger. 00:13:22.419 --> 00:13:24.419 The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. 00:13:24.419 --> 00:13:26.519 May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. 00:13:26.519 --> 00:13:28.620 To proceed, O servants of Allah: 00:13:28.620 --> 00:13:30.779 Their Companions 00:13:30.779 --> 00:13:32.779 The unique generation. 00:13:32.779 --> 00:13:34.779 They are the only generation. 00:13:34.779 --> 00:13:36.779 Their eyes were graced with kohl. 00:13:36.779 --> 00:13:38.779 by seeing the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. 00:13:38.779 --> 00:13:40.779 May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. 00:13:40.779 --> 00:13:42.779 Their eyes were anointed with kohl. 00:13:42.779 --> 00:13:44.779 By seeing him, and [his soul] was purified. 00:13:44.779 --> 00:13:46.779 their souls through his call 00:13:46.779 --> 00:13:48.779 And their character was refined. 00:13:48.779 --> 00:13:50.779 And their deeds were virtuous. 00:13:50.779 --> 00:13:52.779 And their ranks were elevated. 00:13:52.779 --> 00:13:54.779 So humble yourselves before Him. 00:13:54.779 --> 00:13:56.779 And their wealth, their lives, and their homes. 00:13:56.779 --> 00:13:58.779 The Companions embodied all the noble characteristics. 00:13:58.779 --> 00:14:00.779 And the lofty virtues. 00:14:00.779 --> 00:14:02.779 They were the forerunners. 00:14:02.779 --> 00:14:04.779 For every good. 00:14:04.779 --> 00:14:06.779 In the arena of jihad and calling people to Allah. 00:14:06.779 --> 00:14:08.779 And generosity and giving. 00:14:08.779 --> 00:14:10.779 And charity, as well as supererogatory acts of worship. 00:14:10.779 --> 00:14:12.779 Thus, they recognized their true worth and their excellence. 00:14:12.779 --> 00:14:14.779 May Allah be pleased with them and grant them contentment. 00:14:14.779 --> 00:14:16.779 They are the elite among all peoples. 00:14:16.779 --> 00:14:18.779 He recognized their true worth. 00:14:18.779 --> 00:14:20.779 And may you be guided upon their path, O seeker of success. 00:14:20.779 --> 00:14:22.779 So I am guided. 00:14:22.779 --> 00:14:24.779 For Allah has purified them and elevated their status. 00:14:24.779 --> 00:14:26.779 And He elevated them to the highest station through the religion. 00:14:26.779 --> 00:14:28.779 They are like the eyes. 00:14:28.779 --> 00:14:30.779 And touching it constitutes its destruction. 00:14:30.779 --> 00:14:32.779 Beware of causing eyes to weep. 00:14:32.779 --> 00:14:34.779 By my standard. 00:14:34.779 --> 00:14:36.779 Who else among them witnessed all the battles? 00:14:36.779 --> 00:14:38.779 Rather, whoever resembles them. 00:14:38.779 --> 00:14:40.779 through the excellence of my worship. 00:14:40.779 --> 00:14:42.779 May Allah unite us with them in Paradise. 00:14:42.779 --> 00:14:44.779 In a seat 00:14:44.779 --> 00:14:46.779 Abiding eternally in the presence of the Sovereign. 00:14:46.779 --> 00:14:48.779 O Allah, be pleased with them. 00:14:48.779 --> 00:14:50.779 O Allah, reward them on our behalf with the best of rewards. 00:14:50.779 --> 00:14:52.779 O Allah, unite us with them. 00:14:52.779 --> 00:14:54.779 In the Gardens of Delight. 00:14:54.779 --> 00:14:56.779 With our Prophet and our beloved. 00:14:56.779 --> 00:14:58.779 May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. 00:14:58.779 --> 00:15:00.779 And our parents, and those whom we love. 00:15:00.779 --> 00:15:02.779 O Allah, gather us together with them. 00:15:02.779 --> 00:15:04.779 In the highest level of Paradise. 00:15:04.779 --> 00:15:06.779 O Ali, O most exalted. 00:15:06.779 --> 00:15:08.779 O Allah, forgive our sins. 00:15:08.779 --> 00:15:10.779 And conceal our faults. 00:15:10.779 --> 00:15:12.779 And accept our repentance. 00:15:12.779 --> 00:15:14.779 And may Allah make our deeds among the righteous works. 00:15:14.779 --> 00:15:16.779 O Allah, grant us security in our homelands. 00:15:16.779 --> 00:15:18.779 O Allah, grant victory to our soldiers at the borders. 00:15:18.779 --> 00:15:20.779 O Allah, grant victory to our soldiers. 00:15:20.779 --> 00:15:22.779 They are all within the prescribed limits. 00:15:22.779 --> 00:15:24.779 As a supporter and a helper. 00:15:24.779 --> 00:15:26.779 And as a supporter and a defender. 00:15:26.779 --> 00:15:28.779 O Allah, grant victory to our oppressed brothers. 00:15:28.779 --> 00:15:30.779 In every place. 00:15:30.779 --> 00:15:32.779 O Allah, O Possessor of Majesty and Honor. 00:15:32.779 --> 00:15:34.779 May Allah rectify the conditions of the Muslims everywhere. 00:15:34.779 --> 00:15:36.779 O Allah, rectify their affairs. 00:15:36.779 --> 00:15:38.779 O Allah, rectify their affairs. 00:15:38.779 --> 00:15:40.779 O Allah, adorn us with Your beautiful veil of protection. 00:15:40.779 --> 00:15:42.779 And ensure that you perform deeds in private, hidden from the sight of others. 00:15:42.779 --> 00:15:44.779 a righteous deed that You are pleased with. 00:15:44.779 --> 00:15:50.179 [Grant us] through Your lawful provisions freedom from Your prohibitions, and enrich us by Your grace, independent of anyone other than You; O Allah, grant us provision before 00:15:50.179 --> 00:15:56.419 Death is a repentance, at the moment of death is the testimony of faith, and after death is Paradise and bliss; O Allah, [grant us these]. 00:15:56.419 --> 00:16:02.379 May Allah rectify our intentions and our offspring; our Lord, grant us from among our spouses and offspring [the comfort of our eyes]. 00:16:02.379 --> 00:16:07.980 ...a comfort to our eyes, and make us leaders for the righteous.
