A summary of the concepts held by the Ahl al-Sunnah.
Moderation in administration and politics.
We must not be swept away by a preoccupation with administration and politics,
nor by the extremism and excess found in the theoretical aspects thereof.
Otherwise, those in charge of affairs will become submerged in planning and theorizing,
until days, months, and even years pass by,
while they remain stuck in their theorizing and studies,
taking one step forward and another back,
which prevents them from taking action.
They miss the opportunities that come their way without ever capitalizing on them.
And if such people are ever able to move from the phase of planning and theorizing
to the realm of implementation,
you see them also becoming submerged in organizing the work
and establishing intricate arrangements for it,
which, in many cases, may be merely formalistic,
leading to nothing but the obstruction of work
and the stifling of the workers from utilizing their minds
and their energies in work and execution.
Likewise, the aforementioned warning should not lead us
to belittle the importance of administration and organization,
or to accuse any organized, well-studied work
of being partisan or innovative (bid'ah).
This would lead to the neglect of planning and study,
and to embarking on work without any of that,
resulting in chaos,
and causing confusion.
This leads to the waste of time and wealth to no avail,
and indeed leads to regression,
and the return of the Ummah to backwardness.
Therefore, there must be moderation in how we view
planning and organization,
alongside decisiveness in implementation, follow-up, and evaluation.
