In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. 00:00:47.420 --> 00:00:50.359 Praise be to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah. 00:00:50.359 --> 00:00:53.689 We are still presenting the brief commentary on the ID cards of the surahs. 00:00:53.689 --> 00:00:59.689 We have reached Surah Nuh, regarding which I have three main points to make. 00:00:59.689 --> 00:01:03.689 The first point pertains to what was mentioned regarding its name. 00:01:03.689 --> 00:01:13.590 He stated that it was named for the recount of his story within it, which encompasses all the verses of the surah. 00:01:13.590 --> 00:01:18.590 It is worth adding here that no other surah shares this unique feature with it. 00:01:18.590 --> 00:01:21.879 Someone might object and say: "What about Surah Yusuf?" 00:01:21.879 --> 00:01:25.879 Surah Yusuf indeed focuses on his story, but if you look closely at Surah Yusuf, 00:01:25.879 --> 00:01:32.969 you will find that the first three verses and the final page of the surah—and this is quite clear— 00:01:32.969 --> 00:01:38.099 are not part of the narrative itself, even though they are undoubtedly connected to it. 00:01:38.099 --> 00:01:46.099 As for Surah Nuh, from the statement of Allah Almighty, "Indeed, We sent Noah," to the very last word of the surah, 00:01:46.099 --> 00:01:52.099 it speaks exclusively about Nuh and his story with his people, peace be upon him. 00:01:52.099 --> 00:01:58.099 This is a remarkable feature, especially since Nuh, peace be upon him, is mentioned in many other surahs; 00:01:58.099 --> 00:02:05.319 in fact, the discussion about Nuh, peace be upon him, in Surah Hud, for example, 00:02:05.319 --> 00:02:10.319 is even longer than the total length of this entire surah. 00:02:10.319 --> 00:02:16.960 This observation connects directly to the third point that will follow. 00:02:16.960 --> 00:02:23.280 The second point concerns the surah's placement and relevance to Surah al-Ma'arij. He mentioned that because al-Ma'arij 00:02:23.280 --> 00:02:30.919 concluded with a threat of destruction, this surah presents the narrative of Nuh's destroyed people. 00:02:30.919 --> 00:02:37.919 The end of al-Ma'arij contains a threat of destruction and punishment, and this surah details the story of Nuh's destroyed people, 00:02:37.919 --> 00:02:42.919 as if serving as an elaboration of the former, following the hermeneutical rule I have highlighted on multiple occasions, 00:02:42.919 --> 00:02:47.050 which was also mentioned by al-Suyuti. However, what I would like to add 00:02:47.050 --> 00:02:53.150 is that I also noticed a profound connection regarding the haste mentioned in Surah al-Ma'arij, 00:02:53.150 --> 00:02:58.150 which includes the verse: "The angels and the Spirit ascend to Him in a Day the measure whereof is fifty thousand years." 00:02:58.150 --> 00:03:03.150 I noticed the relevance of addressing this human haste through this narrative, 00:03:03.150 --> 00:03:09.280 which was exceptionally long by human standards: the story of Nuh, peace be upon him. 00:03:09.280 --> 00:03:15.340 His call spanned an immense duration that is well known to you all. 00:03:15.340 --> 00:03:22.560 Yet, in the final analysis, if you contemplate it, the matter drew to a close 00:03:22.560 --> 00:03:28.560 and became merely a concise story, summarized in this succinct manner, 00:03:28.560 --> 00:03:34.560 encapsulated within these few verses that represent that vast span of time. 00:03:34.560 --> 00:03:40.819 This serves as a remedy for human haste as well: do not be hasty. 00:03:40.819 --> 00:03:46.949 Nuh spent all those centuries, and ultimately, everything that happened to him 00:03:46.949 --> 00:03:52.139 became a brief story we listen to and draw moral lessons from. 00:03:52.139 --> 00:03:56.139 Likewise, every trial we experience that weighs heavily upon us, 00:03:56.139 --> 00:04:04.139 making us long for its swift conclusion and relief from hardship, will all 00:04:04.139 --> 00:04:10.300 eventually become nothing more than a short story to be told. 00:04:10.300 --> 00:04:17.560 I ask Allah to make us among those who excel in righteous deeds and are blessed with His acceptance. 00:04:17.560 --> 00:04:22.680 As for the third and final point, it concerns the core theme of the surah. 00:04:22.680 --> 00:04:29.720 He noted that from its title and content, we know it is dedicated entirely to the story of Nuh, peace be upon him, 00:04:29.720 --> 00:04:33.720 with his people, as noted in the first point. 00:04:33.720 --> 00:04:37.720 Within it lies a magnificent model for calling people to Allah (da'wah). 00:04:37.720 --> 00:04:40.720 This is what I wish to focus on in this third point: 00:04:40.720 --> 00:04:44.779 that it provides a magnificent model for calling people to Allah. 00:04:44.779 --> 00:04:49.779 Those engaged in calling to Allah often turn their attention to the righteous reformers 00:04:49.779 --> 00:04:54.779 who made noble endeavors in propagating Islam throughout history, 00:04:54.779 --> 00:04:56.939 and this is commendable. 00:04:56.939 --> 00:05:00.939 However, the best exemplary models are those connected to the Prophets and Messengers, 00:05:00.939 --> 00:05:04.939 “Those are they whom Allah guideth, so follow their guidance. Say (O Muhammad, unto mankind): I ask of you no fee for it. Lo! it is naught but a Reminder to (His) creatures.” (6:90) 00:05:04.939 --> 00:05:10.040 led by their master, the leader of the children of Adam, peace and blessings be upon him. 00:05:10.040 --> 00:05:17.040 This surah offers us a sublime model of the methods and approaches of calling to Allah, 00:05:17.040 --> 00:05:23.040 to which we ought to dedicate our time, contemplation, and deep reflection. 00:05:23.040 --> 00:05:27.040 I ask Allah to grant me and you the success to achieve all that He loves and is pleased with. 00:05:27.040 --> 00:05:30.040 May Allah send peace and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon all his family and Companions. 00:05:30.040 --> 00:05:32.040 And all praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds.
