A new challenge: Who am I?
I am one of the younger Companions of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.
I was born in Makkah two years before the Hijrah.
I grew up in Islam.
When the Prophet, peace be upon him, passed away,
I was twelve years old.
I witnessed the Battle of Tabuk with the Prophet, peace be upon him.
I am one of the greatest commanders of the conquests in the early days of Islam.
I was among those who participated in the conquests of the Levant.
I am the conqueror of Armenia.
I exhausted the Byzantines with my frequent battles against them and my victories over them,
to the point that I became known as the "Beloved of the Byzantines."
I was one of the nobles of the Quraysh and one of their bravest men,
one of their leaders and a standard-bearer of their glory.
I am considered to be of the same rank as Khalid Ibn al-Walid and Abu 'Ubaydah, may Allah be pleased with them both,
in courage, boldness, and a lasting legacy in battle.
This is because I grew up from my earliest youth in warfare,
and from a young age, I became accustomed to thrusting and striking.
Thus, I spent most of my life in wars.
I had a role in establishing the pillars of Islam in distant lands and remote kingdoms,
through a long struggle, especially in the lands of the Byzantines.
Despite that, I was kind to the soldiers and ascetic regarding worldly life.
The people of the Levant used to praise me highly,
and they believed me to be of the utmost righteousness.
They used to say that my supplications were answered.
Whenever I encountered an enemy or besieged a fortress, I liked to say:
"There is no power and no strength except by Allah, the Most High, the Almighty."
One day, I besieged a fortress,
and I raised my voice with "There is no power and no strength except by Allah, the Most High, the Almighty."
The Muslims raised their voices with me,
the fortress cracked, the Byzantines were defeated, and Allah granted us victory.
