00:00:00.460 --> 00:00:02.459
Stories of the Prophets.

00:00:02.459 --> 00:00:05.580
Stories of the Prophets,

00:00:05.580 --> 00:00:07.580
peace be upon them.

00:00:07.580 --> 00:00:09.650
May Allah's blessings,

00:00:09.650 --> 00:00:11.650
followed by

00:00:11.650 --> 00:00:13.650
peace,

00:00:13.650 --> 00:00:15.650
be upon the best of all

00:00:15.650 --> 00:00:17.649
creation.

00:00:17.649 --> 00:00:20.190
Men of resolve,

00:00:20.190 --> 00:00:22.190
whose station

00:00:22.190 --> 00:00:24.480
is exalted.

00:00:24.480 --> 00:00:28.210
The story of Elijah (Ilyas),

00:00:28.210 --> 00:00:32.060
peace be upon him.

00:00:32.060 --> 00:00:34.060
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

00:00:34.060 --> 00:00:36.060
All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds,

00:00:36.060 --> 00:00:38.060
and may peace and blessings

00:00:38.060 --> 00:00:40.060
be upon our Prophet Muhammad,

00:00:40.060 --> 00:00:42.060
and upon his family

00:00:42.060 --> 00:00:44.060
and all his Companions.

00:00:44.060 --> 00:00:46.420
To proceed:

00:00:46.420 --> 00:00:48.420
Following the end

00:00:48.420 --> 00:00:50.420
of the reign of Solomon son of David,

00:00:50.420 --> 00:00:52.420
peace be upon them both,

00:00:52.420 --> 00:00:54.420
the kingdom of the Children of Israel fractured

00:00:54.420 --> 00:00:56.420
due to disputes among their kings

00:00:56.420 --> 00:00:58.420
and nobles over power,

00:00:58.420 --> 00:01:00.420
as well as the disbelief and misguidance

00:01:00.420 --> 00:01:02.420
that spread throughout their ranks.

00:01:02.420 --> 00:01:04.510
One of their kings allowed

00:01:04.510 --> 00:01:06.510
his wife to promote the worship

00:01:06.510 --> 00:01:08.510
practiced by her people among the Children of Israel.

00:01:08.510 --> 00:01:10.510
Her people were

00:01:10.510 --> 00:01:12.510
idolaters,

00:01:12.510 --> 00:01:14.510
so idolatry became widespread,

00:01:14.510 --> 00:01:16.510
and the idol was worshipped

00:01:16.510 --> 00:01:18.510
which is mentioned in the Holy Qur'an,

00:01:18.510 --> 00:01:20.510
named Baal.

00:01:20.510 --> 00:01:22.510
Thereupon, Allah Almighty sent

00:01:22.510 --> 00:01:24.510
Elijah to them,

00:01:24.510 --> 00:01:27.980
peace be upon him.

00:01:27.980 --> 00:01:29.980
The summary of the story of Allah's Prophet

00:01:29.980 --> 00:01:31.980
Elijah (Ilyas or Ilyasin),

00:01:31.980 --> 00:01:33.980
peace be upon him,

00:01:33.980 --> 00:01:35.980
is that Allah, Glorified and Exalted,

00:01:35.980 --> 00:01:37.980
sent him to the Children of Israel

00:01:37.980 --> 00:01:39.980
while they were worshipping the idol

00:01:39.980 --> 00:01:41.980
Baal.

00:01:41.980 --> 00:01:43.980
He called them to Allah

00:01:43.980 --> 00:01:45.980
and forbade them from worshipping the idol

00:01:45.980 --> 00:01:48.079
and anything besides Him.

00:01:48.079 --> 00:01:50.079
Their king believed in him

00:01:50.079 --> 00:01:52.079
and used to sit in Elijah's company,

00:01:52.079 --> 00:01:54.079
peace be upon him,

00:01:54.079 --> 00:01:56.079
but he later apostatized.

00:01:56.079 --> 00:01:58.079
He said to Elijah, peace be upon him:

00:01:58.079 --> 00:02:00.079
"I consider what you call to [unfounded],

00:02:00.079 --> 00:02:02.079
for I see so-and-so among

00:02:02.079 --> 00:02:04.079
the other kings

00:02:04.079 --> 00:02:06.079
of the Children of Israel

00:02:06.079 --> 00:02:08.080
worshipping idols,

00:02:08.080 --> 00:02:10.080
yet that has not harmed them

00:02:10.080 --> 00:02:12.080
in the least.

00:02:12.080 --> 00:02:14.080
They eat, drink, and enjoy life,

00:02:14.080 --> 00:02:16.080
and nothing is diminished

00:02:16.080 --> 00:02:18.080
from their worldly possessions,

00:02:18.080 --> 00:02:20.080
nor do we see ourselves possessing

00:02:20.080 --> 00:02:22.080
any advantage over them."

00:02:22.080 --> 00:02:24.080
So Elijah, peace be upon him, parted from him,

00:02:24.080 --> 00:02:26.110
saying: "To Allah we belong and to Him we return."

00:02:26.110 --> 00:02:28.110
That king then returned to worshipping [idols].

00:02:28.110 --> 00:02:31.330
The king had

00:02:31.330 --> 00:02:33.330
a righteous, believing neighbor

00:02:33.330 --> 00:02:35.330
who concealed his faith,

00:02:35.330 --> 00:02:37.330
and he owned an orchard

00:02:37.330 --> 00:02:39.330
adjacent to the king's palace.

00:02:39.330 --> 00:02:41.330
The king treated him well as a neighbor,

00:02:41.330 --> 00:02:43.360
but the king had a wife

00:02:43.360 --> 00:02:45.360
of immense wickedness and disbelief.

00:02:45.360 --> 00:02:47.360
She asked her husband,

00:02:47.360 --> 00:02:49.360
the king, to seize the orchard

00:02:49.360 --> 00:02:51.360
of that man, but he refused.

00:02:51.360 --> 00:02:53.389
The woman used to

00:02:53.389 --> 00:02:55.389
govern in place of her husband whenever he traveled

00:02:55.389 --> 00:02:57.389
away from his land.

00:02:57.389 --> 00:02:59.389
On one such occasion,

00:02:59.389 --> 00:03:01.389
his wife plotted against the orchard's owner

00:03:01.389 --> 00:03:03.389
by having false witnesses testify that

00:03:03.389 --> 00:03:05.389
he had cursed the king.

00:03:05.389 --> 00:03:07.389
She then had him killed and seized his orchard.

00:03:07.389 --> 00:03:09.460
When the king returned,

00:03:09.460 --> 00:03:11.460
he became furious at this,

00:03:11.460 --> 00:03:13.460
finding it monstrous and abhorrent.

00:03:13.460 --> 00:03:15.460
She told him: "The matter is already done."

00:03:15.460 --> 00:03:17.490
Then Allah

00:03:17.490 --> 00:03:19.490
inspired Elijah,

00:03:19.490 --> 00:03:21.490
commanding him to tell the king

00:03:21.490 --> 00:03:23.490
and his wife to return

00:03:23.490 --> 00:03:25.490
the orchard to its owner's heirs;

00:03:25.490 --> 00:03:27.490
otherwise, if he failed to do so,

00:03:27.490 --> 00:03:29.490
Allah would be wrathful with them both

00:03:29.490 --> 00:03:31.490
and destroy them in that very orchard,

00:03:31.490 --> 00:03:33.490
and he would not enjoy it

00:03:33.490 --> 00:03:35.650
except for a little while.

00:03:35.650 --> 00:03:37.650
Elijah, peace be upon him, informed them

00:03:37.650 --> 00:03:39.650
of this, but the king did not return

00:03:39.650 --> 00:03:42.349
to the truth.

00:03:42.349 --> 00:03:44.349
When Elijah, peace be upon him, saw

00:03:44.349 --> 00:03:46.349
the state into which the Children of Israel had fallen

00:03:46.349 --> 00:03:48.349
regarding disbelief and injustice,

00:03:48.349 --> 00:03:50.349
he vehemently denounced them

00:03:50.349 --> 00:03:52.349
and rebuked them for worshipping

00:03:52.349 --> 00:03:54.349
their idol, Baal.

00:03:54.349 --> 00:03:56.349
He called them to the worship of Allah alone,

00:03:56.349 --> 00:03:58.349
the Creator of all things,

00:03:58.349 --> 00:04:00.349
and informed them that He

00:04:00.349 --> 00:04:02.349
is their Lord and the Lord of their

00:04:02.349 --> 00:04:04.349
forefathers.

00:04:04.349 --> 00:04:06.349
However, they did not respond to him

00:04:06.349 --> 00:04:08.349
regarding what he called them to,

00:04:08.349 --> 00:04:10.349
nor did they submit to him in what

00:04:10.349 --> 00:04:12.349
he requested of them.

00:04:12.349 --> 00:04:14.349
At that point, he supplicated against them,

00:04:14.349 --> 00:04:16.350
so Allah withheld from them

00:04:16.350 --> 00:04:18.350
the rain for three years.

00:04:18.350 --> 00:04:20.350
Consequently, livestock, birds,

00:04:20.350 --> 00:04:22.350
vermin, and trees perished,

00:04:22.350 --> 00:04:24.350
and the people suffered

00:04:24.350 --> 00:04:26.350
severe distress.

00:04:26.350 --> 00:04:28.350
Elijah, peace be upon him, went into hiding

00:04:28.350 --> 00:04:30.350
out of fear of the Children of Israel,

00:04:30.350 --> 00:04:32.350
and his sustenance used to come

00:04:32.350 --> 00:04:34.350
to his hiding place

00:04:34.350 --> 00:04:36.449
on Mount Qasiyun.

00:04:36.449 --> 00:04:38.449
Later, he came to them

00:04:38.449 --> 00:04:40.449
and said to them:

00:04:40.449 --> 00:04:42.449
"You have been brought to ruin,

00:04:42.449 --> 00:04:44.449
and the beasts have perished because of your sins.

00:04:44.449 --> 00:04:46.449
If you wish

00:04:46.449 --> 00:04:48.449
to know that Allah

00:04:48.449 --> 00:04:50.449
is displeased with you for your actions

00:04:50.449 --> 00:04:52.449
and that what I call you

00:04:52.449 --> 00:04:54.579
to is the truth,

00:04:54.579 --> 00:04:56.579
then bring out your idols

00:04:56.579 --> 00:04:58.579
and call upon them.

00:04:58.579 --> 00:05:00.579
If they answer you,

00:05:00.579 --> 00:05:02.579
then that is the truth, just as you say;

00:05:02.579 --> 00:05:04.579
but if they do not,

00:05:04.579 --> 00:05:06.579
you will know that you are upon falsehood,

00:05:06.579 --> 00:05:08.579
so that you may desist

00:05:08.579 --> 00:05:10.579
and supplicate to Allah,

00:05:10.579 --> 00:05:12.610
and He may relieve you."

00:05:12.610 --> 00:05:14.610
They said: "You have proposed a fair deal."

00:05:14.610 --> 00:05:16.610
So they brought out their idols

00:05:16.610 --> 00:05:18.610
and invoked them

00:05:18.610 --> 00:05:20.610
to help them,

00:05:20.610 --> 00:05:22.610
but no relief came to them.

00:05:22.610 --> 00:05:24.610
They then said to Elijah, peace be upon him:

00:05:24.610 --> 00:05:26.610
"We are utterly ruined;

00:05:26.610 --> 00:05:28.610
pray to Allah for us."

00:05:28.610 --> 00:05:30.610
So he prayed to Allah for their relief

00:05:30.610 --> 00:05:32.610
and that they be given rain.

00:05:32.610 --> 00:05:34.610
A cloud like a shield then appeared

00:05:34.610 --> 00:05:36.610
and grew large

00:05:36.610 --> 00:05:38.610
while they were looking on.

00:05:38.610 --> 00:05:40.610
Allah then sent rain from it,

00:05:40.610 --> 00:05:42.610
so their lands revived

00:05:42.610 --> 00:05:44.610
and Allah relieved them

00:05:44.610 --> 00:05:46.610
of the affliction they were enduring.

00:05:46.610 --> 00:05:48.610
Yet they did not desist,

00:05:48.610 --> 00:05:50.860
nor did they return to the truth.

00:05:50.860 --> 00:05:52.860
When Elijah, peace be upon him, saw that,

00:05:52.860 --> 00:05:54.860
he asked Allah

00:05:54.860 --> 00:05:56.860
Almighty to take his soul

00:05:56.860 --> 00:05:58.860
and give him relief from them.

00:05:58.860 --> 00:06:00.860
So Allah took him unto Himself,

00:06:00.860 --> 00:06:02.899
and Allah set an enemy over the king

00:06:02.899 --> 00:06:04.899
and his people,

00:06:04.899 --> 00:06:06.899
who overcame them

00:06:06.899 --> 00:06:08.899
and killed the king and his wife

00:06:08.899 --> 00:06:10.899
in that very orchard.

00:06:10.899 --> 00:06:12.899
He cast their bodies into it

00:06:12.899 --> 00:06:14.930
until their flesh decayed.

00:06:14.930 --> 00:06:16.930
The land they inhabited was called

00:06:16.930 --> 00:06:18.930
Baalbek

00:06:18.930 --> 00:06:20.930
after the idol Baal,

00:06:20.930 --> 00:06:22.930
which they used to worship.

00:06:22.930 --> 00:06:25.500
Allah Almighty said:

00:06:25.500 --> 00:06:27.500
"And indeed,

00:06:27.500 --> 00:06:29.500
Elijah was among the messengers,

00:06:31.730 --> 00:06:33.730
when he said to his people:

00:06:33.730 --> 00:06:35.730
'Will you not fear [Allah]?

00:06:35.730 --> 00:06:37.730
Do you call upon

00:06:37.730 --> 00:06:39.730
Baal

00:06:39.730 --> 00:06:41.730
and forsake the Best

00:06:41.730 --> 00:06:43.730
of creators—

00:06:43.730 --> 00:06:45.730
Allah, your Lord

00:06:45.730 --> 00:06:47.730
and the Lord of your

00:06:47.730 --> 00:06:51.329
forefathers?'

00:06:51.329 --> 00:06:53.329
"So they rejected him,

00:06:53.329 --> 00:06:55.329
and they will surely

00:06:55.329 --> 00:06:57.329
be brought [to punishment],

00:06:57.329 --> 00:06:59.329
except for the chosen

00:06:59.329 --> 00:07:01.329
servants of Allah.

00:07:01.329 --> 00:07:03.329
And We left for him [favorable mention]

00:07:03.329 --> 00:07:05.329
among later generations:

00:07:05.329 --> 00:07:07.329
'Peace be upon

00:07:07.329 --> 00:07:09.329
Ilyas.'

00:07:09.329 --> 00:07:11.329
Indeed, We thus

00:07:11.329 --> 00:07:13.329
reward the doers of good.

00:07:13.329 --> 00:07:15.329
Indeed, he was of Our

00:07:15.329 --> 00:07:17.490
believing servants."

00:07:17.490 --> 00:07:19.490
Mention of

00:07:19.490 --> 00:07:24.050
Ilyas in the Noble Qur'an occurs

00:07:24.050 --> 00:07:26.050
three times,

00:07:26.050 --> 00:07:28.050
and Allah praised him,

00:07:28.050 --> 00:07:30.050
describing him as being

00:07:30.050 --> 00:07:32.050
among the righteous.

00:07:32.050 --> 00:07:34.050
For He said:

00:07:34.050 --> 00:07:36.050
"And Zechariah and John and Jesus

00:07:36.050 --> 00:07:38.050
and Elias—

00:07:38.050 --> 00:07:40.050
all of them were of

00:07:40.050 --> 00:07:42.050
the righteous."

00:07:42.050 --> 00:07:47.500
The Story

00:07:47.500 --> 00:07:49.500
of Al-Yasa' (Elisha),

00:07:49.500 --> 00:07:53.839
peace be upon him.

00:07:53.839 --> 00:07:55.839
It is said that Al-Yasa'

00:07:55.839 --> 00:07:57.839
was the cousin of the Prophet

00:07:57.839 --> 00:07:59.899
of Allah Ilyas, peace be upon them both.

00:07:59.899 --> 00:08:01.899
And Al-Yasa'

00:08:01.899 --> 00:08:03.899
had believed in the Prophet of Allah

00:08:03.899 --> 00:08:05.899
Ilyas, peace be upon him.

00:08:05.899 --> 00:08:07.899
He was blind,

00:08:07.899 --> 00:08:09.899
so Ilyas supplicated for him,

00:08:09.899 --> 00:08:11.899
and Allah Almighty cured him.

00:08:11.899 --> 00:08:13.899
He then secluded himself with him

00:08:13.899 --> 00:08:15.899
away from the people in his hideout

00:08:15.899 --> 00:08:18.290
on Mount Qasiyun.

00:08:18.290 --> 00:08:20.290
The Prophet of Allah Al-Yasa',

00:08:20.290 --> 00:08:22.290
peace be upon him, was endowed

00:08:22.290 --> 00:08:24.290
with wisdom and discernment from his youth,

00:08:24.290 --> 00:08:26.290
and Allah granted him prophethood

00:08:26.290 --> 00:08:28.290
after the death of Ilyas,

00:08:28.290 --> 00:08:30.290
peace be upon him.

00:08:30.290 --> 00:08:32.289
So he stood calling to Allah Almighty,

00:08:32.289 --> 00:08:34.289
adhering strictly to the path

00:08:34.289 --> 00:08:36.289
and divine law of the Prophet of Allah Ilyas.

00:08:36.289 --> 00:08:38.320
It was also said

00:08:38.320 --> 00:08:40.320
that Al-Yasa'

00:08:40.320 --> 00:08:42.320
was given this name

00:08:42.320 --> 00:08:44.320
because of the vastness of his knowledge (sa'ah)

00:08:44.320 --> 00:08:46.320
and his striving (sa'y) in pursuit of the truth.

00:08:46.320 --> 00:08:48.320
He used to pursue the Children of Israel,

00:08:48.320 --> 00:08:50.320
pointing out to them

00:08:50.320 --> 00:08:52.320
their errors

00:08:52.320 --> 00:08:54.320
and clarifying to them what was right,

00:08:54.320 --> 00:08:56.320
until they came to resent him

00:08:56.320 --> 00:08:58.509
and shun him.

00:08:58.509 --> 00:09:00.509
In his time, there was an increase in

00:09:00.509 --> 00:09:02.509
tribulations and sins,

00:09:02.509 --> 00:09:04.509
and tyrannical kings multiplied,

00:09:04.509 --> 00:09:06.509
killing the prophets

00:09:06.509 --> 00:09:08.509
and displacing the believers.

00:09:08.509 --> 00:09:10.509
So Al-Yasa',

00:09:10.509 --> 00:09:12.509
peace be upon him, admonished them

00:09:12.509 --> 00:09:14.509
and frightened them with the punishment of Allah,

00:09:14.509 --> 00:09:16.509
but they paid no heed to his call.

00:09:16.509 --> 00:09:18.580
And Allah Almighty supported him

00:09:18.580 --> 00:09:20.580
with miracles,

00:09:20.580 --> 00:09:22.580
among which was that he revived the dead,

00:09:22.580 --> 00:09:24.580
healed the blind and the leper,

00:09:24.580 --> 00:09:26.580
and the River Jordan

00:09:26.580 --> 00:09:28.580
dried up for him

00:09:28.580 --> 00:09:30.580
so that he walked across it.

00:09:30.580 --> 00:09:32.580
His people witnessed that,

00:09:32.580 --> 00:09:34.580
yet they did not believe

00:09:34.580 --> 00:09:36.769
nor were they deterred.

00:09:36.769 --> 00:09:38.769
Then Allah Almighty took his soul,

00:09:38.769 --> 00:09:40.769
and Allah imposed over

00:09:40.769 --> 00:09:42.769
the Children of Israel those who would subject them

00:09:42.769 --> 00:09:45.059
to dreadful torment.

00:09:45.059 --> 00:09:47.059
Some historians mention

00:09:47.059 --> 00:09:49.059
that the mission of the Prophet of Allah

00:09:49.059 --> 00:09:51.059
Al-Yasa', peace be upon him,

00:09:51.059 --> 00:09:53.059
was based in a city

00:09:53.059 --> 00:09:55.059
called Baniyas,

00:09:55.059 --> 00:09:57.059
one of the cities of the Levant (Sham),

00:09:57.059 --> 00:10:00.299
and Allah knows best.

00:10:00.299 --> 00:10:02.299
Allah Almighty has mentioned

00:10:02.299 --> 00:10:04.299
Al-Yasa', peace be upon him,

00:10:04.299 --> 00:10:06.299
in two places in His Precious Book,

00:10:06.299 --> 00:10:08.299
praising him

00:10:08.299 --> 00:10:10.299
and describing him as having been

00:10:10.299 --> 00:10:12.299
favored above all creation,

00:10:12.299 --> 00:10:14.299
as He said,

00:10:26.980 --> 00:10:28.980
and He described him as being among the chosen,

00:10:28.980 --> 00:10:30.980
saying:

00:10:30.980 --> 00:10:32.980
"And remember Ishmael,

00:10:32.980 --> 00:10:34.980
Elisha, and Dhul-Kifl,

00:10:34.980 --> 00:10:36.980
and all are among the outstanding."

00:10:38.980 --> 00:10:44.750
The Story of Dhul-Kifl,

00:10:44.750 --> 00:10:46.750
peace be upon him.

00:10:46.750 --> 00:10:50.580
When Al-Yasa',

00:10:50.580 --> 00:10:52.580
peace be upon him, grew old,

00:10:52.580 --> 00:10:54.580
he said:

00:10:54.580 --> 00:10:56.580
"If only I could appoint a successor over the people

00:10:56.580 --> 00:10:58.580
to govern them during my lifetime,

00:10:58.580 --> 00:11:00.580
so that I may see how

00:11:00.580 --> 00:11:02.580
he acts."

00:11:02.580 --> 00:11:04.580
So he gathered the people and said to them:

00:11:04.580 --> 00:11:06.580
"Who will undertake for me

00:11:06.580 --> 00:11:08.580
three conditions so that I may appoint him:

00:11:08.580 --> 00:11:10.580
that he fasts by day,

00:11:10.580 --> 00:11:12.580
stands in prayer by night,

00:11:12.580 --> 00:11:14.669
and never becomes angry?"

00:11:14.669 --> 00:11:16.669
A man who appeared insignificant in the eyes of others stood up

00:11:16.669 --> 00:11:18.669
and said:

00:11:18.669 --> 00:11:20.740
"I will."

00:11:20.740 --> 00:11:22.740
Al-Yasa', peace be upon him, asked him:

00:11:22.740 --> 00:11:24.740
"Will you fast by day,

00:11:24.740 --> 00:11:26.740
stand in prayer by night, and never become angry?"

00:11:26.740 --> 00:11:28.740
He replied, "Yes."

00:11:28.740 --> 00:11:30.860
So he dismissed them that day,

00:11:30.860 --> 00:11:32.860
and repeated the same proposal

00:11:32.860 --> 00:11:34.860
on the second day.

00:11:34.860 --> 00:11:36.860
The people remained silent,

00:11:36.860 --> 00:11:38.860
and that same man stood up,

00:11:38.860 --> 00:11:40.860
saying, "I will."

00:11:40.860 --> 00:11:42.990
So he appointed him as his successor.

00:11:42.990 --> 00:11:44.990
Then Iblis began saying to the devils:

00:11:44.990 --> 00:11:46.990
"Take on such-and-such person."

00:11:46.990 --> 00:11:48.990
But it proved too difficult for them,

00:11:48.990 --> 00:11:51.019
so he said:

00:11:51.019 --> 00:11:53.019
"Leave him to me."

00:11:53.019 --> 00:11:55.179
He came to him just as he had taken

00:11:55.179 --> 00:11:57.179
to his bed for the midday rest (qaylulah),

00:11:57.179 --> 00:11:59.179
appearing in the guise of an old,

00:11:59.179 --> 00:12:01.179
impoverished elderly man.

00:12:01.179 --> 00:12:03.179
Dhul-Kifl, peace be upon him,

00:12:03.179 --> 00:12:05.179
did not sleep by night or by day

00:12:05.179 --> 00:12:07.179
except for that brief nap.

00:12:07.179 --> 00:12:09.179
He knocked on the door,

00:12:09.179 --> 00:12:11.179
and he asked: "Who is this?"

00:12:11.179 --> 00:12:13.220
He replied:

00:12:13.220 --> 00:12:15.220
"An old, wronged man."

00:12:15.220 --> 00:12:17.340
So he got up

00:12:17.340 --> 00:12:19.340
and opened the door,

00:12:19.340 --> 00:12:21.340
and the man began relating his story to him,

00:12:21.340 --> 00:12:23.340
saying: "There is between me

00:12:23.340 --> 00:12:25.340
and my people a dispute;

00:12:25.340 --> 00:12:27.340
they have wronged me,

00:12:27.340 --> 00:12:29.340
and done such-and-such to me."

00:12:29.340 --> 00:12:31.340
He kept prolonging his story

00:12:31.340 --> 00:12:33.340
until late afternoon arrived

00:12:33.340 --> 00:12:35.379
and the midday rest was missed.

00:12:35.379 --> 00:12:37.379
So he said to him:

00:12:37.379 --> 00:12:39.379
"When I go to my assembly of judgment,

00:12:39.379 --> 00:12:41.379
come to me and I will secure

00:12:41.379 --> 00:12:43.470
your right for you."

00:12:43.470 --> 00:12:45.470
So he left.

00:12:45.470 --> 00:12:47.470
The man then went to his assembly

00:12:47.470 --> 00:12:49.470
and kept looking to see if he could spot the old man,

00:12:49.470 --> 00:12:51.539
but he did not see him.

00:12:51.539 --> 00:12:53.539
When the next day came,

00:12:53.539 --> 00:12:55.539
he began judging between the people

00:12:55.539 --> 00:12:57.539
while waiting for him, but he did not see him.

00:12:57.539 --> 00:12:59.539
When he returned for his midday nap

00:12:59.539 --> 00:13:01.539
and took to his bed,

00:13:01.539 --> 00:13:03.539
the man came to him and knocked on the door.

00:13:03.539 --> 00:13:05.539
He asked, "Who is this?"

00:13:05.539 --> 00:13:07.539
and he replied:

00:13:07.539 --> 00:13:09.539
"The old, wronged man."

00:13:09.539 --> 00:13:11.539
So he opened the door for him

00:13:11.539 --> 00:13:13.539
and said: "Did I not tell you

00:13:13.539 --> 00:13:15.539
that when I sit in my assembly,

00:13:15.539 --> 00:13:17.539
you should come to me?"

00:13:17.539 --> 00:13:19.539
He said: "Indeed, my people

00:13:19.539 --> 00:13:21.539
are the most wicked of people;

00:13:21.539 --> 00:13:23.539
when they realized that I had come to you

00:13:23.539 --> 00:13:25.539
and knew that I was going

00:13:25.539 --> 00:13:27.539
to take you to the assembly of judgment,

00:13:27.539 --> 00:13:29.539
they said,

00:13:29.539 --> 00:13:31.759
'We will give you your due right.'

00:13:31.759 --> 00:13:33.759
But once your assembly ended and you stood up,

00:13:33.759 --> 00:13:35.759
they denied my right again."

00:13:35.759 --> 00:13:37.759
He said:

00:13:37.759 --> 00:13:39.759
"Go now,

00:13:39.759 --> 00:13:41.759
and whenever I go to the assembly of judgment,

00:13:41.759 --> 00:13:43.759
come to me."

00:13:43.759 --> 00:13:45.950
Thus he missed his midday rest again.

00:13:45.950 --> 00:13:47.950
He went out in the late afternoon and waited,

00:13:47.950 --> 00:13:49.950
but did not see him.

00:13:49.950 --> 00:13:51.950
Drowsiness weighed heavily upon him,

00:13:51.950 --> 00:13:53.950
so he said to those with him:

00:13:53.950 --> 00:13:55.950
"Let no one come near this door

00:13:55.950 --> 00:13:57.950
so that I may sleep,

00:13:57.950 --> 00:14:00.019
for sleep has become unbearable for me."

00:14:00.019 --> 00:14:02.019
So when that moment arrived,

00:14:02.019 --> 00:14:04.019
An elderly man arrived.

00:14:04.019 --> 00:14:06.019
He said to him, "Who?"

00:14:06.019 --> 00:14:08.019
At the door.

00:14:08.019 --> 00:14:10.110
"Back! Get back!"

00:14:10.110 --> 00:14:12.110
He said, "Indeed, I have..."

00:14:12.110 --> 00:14:14.110
I came to him yesterday.

00:14:14.110 --> 00:14:16.110
So I mentioned my matter to him.

00:14:16.110 --> 00:14:18.110
He said, "No."

00:14:18.110 --> 00:14:20.110
By Allah, we were indeed commanded

00:14:20.110 --> 00:14:22.110
Shall we not prevent anyone from approaching him?

00:14:22.110 --> 00:14:24.210
And when he was exhausted by it,

00:14:24.210 --> 00:14:26.210
He looked and saw an opening.

00:14:26.210 --> 00:14:28.210
In the house.

00:14:28.210 --> 00:14:30.210
So he scaled the wall to enter it.

00:14:30.210 --> 00:14:32.210
And there he was, inside the house.

00:14:32.210 --> 00:14:34.210
Then he knocked on the door from the inside.

00:14:34.210 --> 00:14:36.210
The man then awoke.

00:14:36.210 --> 00:14:38.210
He said, "O so-and-so."

00:14:38.210 --> 00:14:40.210
Did I not command you?

00:14:40.210 --> 00:14:42.210
Let no one approach me.

00:14:42.210 --> 00:14:44.210
The guard said

00:14:44.210 --> 00:14:46.210
As for those before me

00:14:46.210 --> 00:14:48.210
By Allah, it was not given

00:14:48.210 --> 00:14:50.210
So, consider from where you have come.

00:14:50.210 --> 00:14:52.210
He then stood up and went to the door.

00:14:52.210 --> 00:14:54.210
And behold, it was closed just as he had closed it.

00:14:54.210 --> 00:14:56.210
And there was a man with him

00:14:56.210 --> 00:14:58.210
In the house.

00:14:58.210 --> 00:15:00.210
He recognized him and said:

00:15:00.210 --> 00:15:02.210
O enemies of Allah

00:15:02.210 --> 00:15:04.210
He said, "Yes."

00:15:04.210 --> 00:15:06.210
You have exhausted me in every single matter.

00:15:06.210 --> 00:15:08.210
I did what you see in order to make you angry.

00:15:08.210 --> 00:15:10.370
So Allah named him.

00:15:10.370 --> 00:15:12.370
Dhu al-Kifl

00:15:12.370 --> 00:15:14.370
For He has taken it upon Himself to provide for the matter.

00:15:14.370 --> 00:15:17.740
So he fulfilled it.

00:15:17.740 --> 00:15:19.740
The name Dhu al-Kifl has been mentioned repeatedly.

00:15:19.740 --> 00:15:21.740
The Most Generous mentioned it twice.

00:15:21.740 --> 00:15:23.740
Where Allah has praised him.

00:15:23.740 --> 00:15:25.740
And he described him as being

00:15:25.740 --> 00:15:27.740
among the patient and the righteous.

00:15:27.740 --> 00:15:29.740
Then the Almighty said:

00:15:29.740 --> 00:15:31.779
And Isma'il

00:15:31.779 --> 00:15:33.779
And Idris and Dhu al-Kifl

00:15:33.779 --> 00:15:35.779
Everyone who

00:15:35.779 --> 00:15:37.779
The patient ones.

00:15:37.779 --> 00:15:39.779
And admit us

00:15:39.779 --> 00:15:41.779
They are within Our mercy.

00:15:41.779 --> 00:15:43.779
They are

00:15:43.779 --> 00:15:45.779
among the righteous.

00:15:45.779 --> 00:15:48.000
And he described him as possessing goodness.

00:15:48.000 --> 00:15:50.000
He then said

00:15:50.000 --> 00:15:52.190
And mention Ishmael.

00:15:52.190 --> 00:15:54.190
And al-Yasa' and Dhu al-Kifl.

00:15:54.190 --> 00:15:56.190
And every

00:15:56.190 --> 00:15:58.190
Among the righteous.

00:15:58.190 --> 00:16:00.190
The story of 'Uzayr.

00:16:00.190 --> 00:16:05.809
Peace be upon him.

00:16:05.809 --> 00:16:09.820
There is a difference of opinion regarding Uzayr.

00:16:09.820 --> 00:16:11.820
Peace be upon him.

00:16:11.820 --> 00:16:13.820
Is he a prophet?

00:16:13.820 --> 00:16:15.980
Or a righteous servant of Allah.

00:16:15.980 --> 00:16:17.980
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him,

00:16:17.980 --> 00:16:19.980
He said

00:16:19.980 --> 00:16:21.980
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.

00:16:21.980 --> 00:16:23.980
I do not know.

00:16:23.980 --> 00:16:25.980
Follow the accursed one.

00:16:25.980 --> 00:16:27.980
Is it he, or is it not?

00:16:27.980 --> 00:16:29.980
And I do not know if Uzayr

00:16:29.980 --> 00:16:31.980
Is he a Prophet or not?

00:16:31.980 --> 00:16:34.299
Shaykh 'Abd al-Muhsin said:

00:16:34.299 --> 00:16:36.299
The servant, may Allah preserve him.

00:16:36.299 --> 00:16:38.299
This was stated by the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.

00:16:38.299 --> 00:16:40.299
peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, before

00:16:40.299 --> 00:16:42.299
That he should know about the condition of the Tabi'un.

00:16:42.299 --> 00:16:44.299
Evidence has indeed come forth indicating that.

00:16:44.299 --> 00:16:46.299
On the basis that he had already embraced Islam.

00:16:46.299 --> 00:16:48.299
Thus, he shall not be cursed.

00:16:48.299 --> 00:16:50.299
As for Uzayr,

00:16:50.299 --> 00:16:52.299
Yet nothing has come down that provides evidence.

00:16:52.299 --> 00:16:54.299
In that he is a Prophet.

00:16:54.299 --> 00:16:56.500
And there is no harm in saying

00:16:56.500 --> 00:16:58.500
upon him be peace.

00:16:58.500 --> 00:17:00.500
For he was a righteous man.

00:17:00.500 --> 00:17:02.500
I have mentioned his story.

00:17:02.500 --> 00:17:04.500
In the Book of Allah

00:17:04.500 --> 00:17:06.500
Many of the scholars have counted it among the

00:17:06.500 --> 00:17:08.500
Knowledge is among the prophets of Allah.

00:17:08.500 --> 00:17:12.000
Peace be upon him.

00:17:12.000 --> 00:17:14.000
Uzayr was a servant of Allah.

00:17:14.000 --> 00:17:16.000
righteous and wise

00:17:16.000 --> 00:17:18.000
One day, he went out to a piece of land he owned.

00:17:18.000 --> 00:17:20.000
He would regularly attend to it and keep it in his memory.

00:17:20.000 --> 00:17:22.000
When he turned away.

00:17:22.000 --> 00:17:24.000
He reached a ruin at the time when

00:17:24.000 --> 00:17:26.000
The midday period arrived.

00:17:26.000 --> 00:17:28.000
And he was afflicted by the heat.

00:17:28.000 --> 00:17:30.000
He entered the ruins while riding his donkey.

00:17:30.000 --> 00:17:32.000
He then dismounted from his donkey.

00:17:32.000 --> 00:17:34.000
And with him was a basket containing

00:17:34.000 --> 00:17:36.000
A fig and a basket containing it

00:17:36.000 --> 00:17:38.000
Grapes

00:17:38.000 --> 00:17:40.000
He then descended into the shade of that ruin.

00:17:40.000 --> 00:17:42.000
He brought out a bowl with him.

00:17:42.000 --> 00:17:44.000
So he pressed the grapes.

00:17:44.000 --> 00:17:46.000
The one who was with him in the food bowl.

00:17:46.000 --> 00:17:48.000
Then he brought out some dry bread that he had with him.

00:17:48.000 --> 00:17:50.000
He then cast it into that bowl.

00:17:50.000 --> 00:17:52.000
Regarding fruit juice.

00:17:52.000 --> 00:17:54.000
He should moisten it and eat it.

00:17:54.000 --> 00:17:56.000
Then he lay down.

00:17:56.000 --> 00:17:58.000
upon his back

00:17:58.000 --> 00:18:00.000
He rested his legs against the wall.

00:18:00.000 --> 00:18:02.000
He then looked up toward the ceiling.

00:18:02.000 --> 00:18:04.000
Those are the houses.

00:18:04.000 --> 00:18:06.000
He saw what was within it while it was standing.

00:18:06.000 --> 00:18:08.000
upon their thrones

00:18:08.000 --> 00:18:10.000
And its people have perished.

00:18:10.000 --> 00:18:12.000
And he saw decayed bones.

00:18:12.000 --> 00:18:14.059
He then said

00:18:14.059 --> 00:18:16.059
How does Allah bring this to life?

00:18:16.059 --> 00:18:18.190
After her death.

00:18:18.190 --> 00:18:20.190
He did not doubt that Allah would bring it to life.

00:18:20.190 --> 00:18:22.190
However,

00:18:22.190 --> 00:18:24.220
He said it in a state of astonishment.

00:18:24.220 --> 00:18:26.220
Then Allah sent the Angel of Death.

00:18:26.220 --> 00:18:28.220
Then He took his soul.

00:18:28.220 --> 00:18:30.220
Then Allah caused him to die for a hundred years.

00:18:30.220 --> 00:18:33.220
Then, when that had passed,

00:18:33.220 --> 00:18:35.220
Over those hundred years.

00:18:35.220 --> 00:18:37.220
May Allah give him life.

00:18:37.220 --> 00:18:39.220
Then He sent an angel to him.

00:18:39.220 --> 00:18:41.220
Then Uzayr stood firm.

00:18:41.220 --> 00:18:43.220
Peace be upon him, as he sat.

00:18:43.220 --> 00:18:45.220
The angel said to him:

00:18:45.220 --> 00:18:47.309
How long did you stay?

00:18:47.309 --> 00:18:49.309
He said

00:18:49.309 --> 00:18:51.309
“Or (bethink thee of) the like of him who, passing by a township which had fallen into utter ruin, exclaimed: How shall Allah give this township life after its death? And Allah made him die a hundred years, then brought him back to life. He said: How long hast thou tarried? (The man) said: I have tarried a day or part of a day. (He) said: Nay, but thou hast tarried for a hundred years. Just look at thy food and drink which have not rotted! Look at thine ass! And, that We may make thee a token unto mankind, look at the bones, how We adjust them and then cover them with flesh! And when (the matter) became clear unto him, he said: I know now that Allah is Able to do all things.” (2:259)

00:18:51.309 --> 00:18:53.309
This is because

00:18:53.309 --> 00:18:55.309
He slept during the early part of the day.

00:18:55.309 --> 00:18:57.309
At midday.

00:18:57.309 --> 00:18:59.309
And he sent [them] out at the end of the day.

00:18:59.309 --> 00:19:01.309
And the sun had not yet set.

00:19:01.309 --> 00:19:03.309
He said, "Or part of a day."

00:19:03.309 --> 00:19:05.339
And my day was not completed for me.

00:19:05.339 --> 00:19:07.339
The angel then said to him

00:19:07.339 --> 00:19:09.339
Rather, he remained there for a hundred years.

00:19:09.339 --> 00:19:11.339
So consider your food.

00:19:11.339 --> 00:19:13.339
It is dry bread.

00:19:13.339 --> 00:19:15.339
And your drink.

00:19:15.339 --> 00:19:17.339
It is the juice that used to be

00:19:17.339 --> 00:19:19.339
He squeezed it into the bowl.

00:19:19.380 --> 00:19:21.380
So observe.

00:19:21.380 --> 00:19:23.380
And so, they both remained in that same state.

00:19:23.380 --> 00:19:25.380
It did not change over time.

00:19:25.380 --> 00:19:27.380
Meaning that the juice has not undergone any change.

00:19:27.380 --> 00:19:29.380
And the bread.

00:19:29.380 --> 00:19:31.380
And likewise the fig and the grape.

00:19:31.380 --> 00:19:33.380
His gaze remained unchanged.

00:19:33.380 --> 00:19:35.380
A glimpse into their circumstances.

00:19:35.380 --> 00:19:37.380
It was as if he disapproved of it in his heart.

00:19:37.380 --> 00:19:39.440
The angel then said to him

00:19:39.440 --> 00:19:41.440
You denied what I said to you.

00:19:41.440 --> 00:19:43.500
Look at your donkey.

00:19:43.500 --> 00:19:45.500
He then looked.

00:19:45.500 --> 00:19:47.500
And suddenly, his donkey had

00:19:47.500 --> 00:19:49.500
His bones have decayed and become

00:19:49.500 --> 00:19:51.599
A hollow sound.

00:19:51.599 --> 00:19:53.599
Then the angel called out to the bones of the donkey.

00:19:53.599 --> 00:19:55.599
She responded and approached from every direction.

00:19:55.599 --> 00:19:57.599
from the perspective of until

00:19:57.599 --> 00:19:59.599
The angel mounted it.

00:19:59.599 --> 00:20:01.599
And Uzayr was looking at him.

00:20:01.599 --> 00:20:03.599
Then He clothed them with veins and sinews.

00:20:03.599 --> 00:20:05.599
Then He clothed it with flesh.

00:20:05.599 --> 00:20:07.599
Then He caused it to grow upon it.

00:20:07.599 --> 00:20:09.599
The skin and the hair.

00:20:09.599 --> 00:20:11.599
Then the angel breathes the soul into it.

00:20:11.599 --> 00:20:13.599
Then the donkey stood up, raising [its head].

00:20:13.599 --> 00:20:15.599
from his head and his ears

00:20:15.599 --> 00:20:17.599
He is braying toward the sky.

00:20:17.599 --> 00:20:19.599
He thinks that the Day of Resurrection has already begun.

00:20:19.599 --> 00:20:21.599
So when

00:20:21.599 --> 00:20:23.599
It became clear to ‘Uzayr, peace be upon him.

00:20:23.599 --> 00:20:25.599
The matter, he said,

00:20:25.599 --> 00:20:27.599
Know that Allah

00:20:27.599 --> 00:20:29.599
And He is over all things competent.

00:20:29.599 --> 00:20:31.599
From the revival of the dead.

00:20:31.599 --> 00:20:34.559
and others.

00:20:34.559 --> 00:20:36.559
He then mounted his donkey and set off until

00:20:36.559 --> 00:20:38.559
I read it.

00:20:38.559 --> 00:20:40.559
For the people did not recognize him.

00:20:40.559 --> 00:20:42.559
And he did not know them, nor did he know.

00:20:42.559 --> 00:20:44.559
Their stations.

00:20:44.559 --> 00:20:46.559
So he set off, acting under a misconception.

00:20:46.559 --> 00:20:48.559
Until he reached his home.

00:20:48.559 --> 00:20:50.559
Suddenly, he found himself before an old woman.

00:20:50.559 --> 00:20:52.559
She was blind and bedridden,

00:20:52.559 --> 00:20:54.559
having reached the age of one hundred

00:20:54.559 --> 00:20:56.559
and twenty years.

00:20:56.559 --> 00:20:58.559
She had been a maidservant to them.

00:20:58.559 --> 00:21:00.559
Uzayr went out to them,

00:21:00.559 --> 00:21:02.559
while she was twenty years old.

00:21:02.559 --> 00:21:04.589
She recognized him and was intelligent.

00:21:04.589 --> 00:21:06.589
"This is Uzayr."

00:21:06.589 --> 00:21:08.589
"O woman, is this

00:21:08.589 --> 00:21:10.589
the house of Uzayr?"

00:21:10.589 --> 00:21:12.589
She said, "Yes, this is

00:21:12.589 --> 00:21:14.589
the house of Uzayr."

00:21:14.589 --> 00:21:16.589
Then she wept and said,

00:21:16.589 --> 00:21:18.589
"I have not seen anyone

00:21:18.589 --> 00:21:20.589
for so many years

00:21:20.589 --> 00:21:22.589
mention Uzayr; people have

00:21:22.589 --> 00:21:24.589
forgotten him."

00:21:24.589 --> 00:21:26.589
He said, "I am

00:21:26.589 --> 00:21:28.589
Uzayr; Allah

00:21:28.589 --> 00:21:30.589
caused me to die for a hundred years,

00:21:30.589 --> 00:21:32.619
then He resurrected me."

00:21:32.619 --> 00:21:34.619
"Subhan Allah!

00:21:34.619 --> 00:21:36.619
We have lost Uzayr

00:21:36.619 --> 00:21:38.619
for a hundred years,

00:21:38.619 --> 00:21:40.779
and we have heard no mention of him."

00:21:40.779 --> 00:21:42.779
He said, "I am

00:21:42.779 --> 00:21:44.849
Uzayr."

00:21:44.849 --> 00:21:46.849
She said, "If you are

00:21:46.849 --> 00:21:48.849
truthful, then Uzayr

00:21:48.849 --> 00:21:50.849
was a man whose prayers were answered;

00:21:50.849 --> 00:21:52.849
he would pray for the sick

00:21:52.849 --> 00:21:54.849
and for those afflicted with hardship for wellness

00:21:54.849 --> 00:21:56.849
and healing.

00:21:56.849 --> 00:21:58.849
So pray to Allah to restore

00:21:58.849 --> 00:22:00.849
my sight so that I may see you,

00:22:00.849 --> 00:22:02.849
for I knew Uzayr."

00:22:02.849 --> 00:22:04.880
So he prayed to his Lord,

00:22:04.880 --> 00:22:06.880
and he wiped his hand over her eyes,

00:22:06.880 --> 00:22:08.880
and she cried out.

00:22:08.880 --> 00:22:10.880
He took her hand and said,

00:22:10.880 --> 00:22:12.880
"Stand up by the permission of Allah."

00:22:12.880 --> 00:22:14.880
So Allah released

00:22:14.880 --> 00:22:16.880
her legs,

00:22:16.880 --> 00:22:18.880
and she stood up healthy, as if she had been

00:22:18.880 --> 00:22:20.880
untied from a tether.

00:22:20.880 --> 00:22:22.940
She looked at him,

00:22:22.940 --> 00:22:24.940
and said, "I bear witness

00:22:24.940 --> 00:22:28.000
that you are Uzayr."

00:22:28.000 --> 00:22:30.000
She set out to the Children of Israel,

00:22:30.000 --> 00:22:32.000
and found them in their meeting places

00:22:32.000 --> 00:22:34.000
and gatherings.

00:22:34.000 --> 00:22:36.000
A son of Uzayr was an old man,

00:22:36.000 --> 00:22:38.000
one hundred and eighteen

00:22:38.000 --> 00:22:40.000
years old, and the sons of

00:22:40.000 --> 00:22:42.000
his sons were elders in the assembly.

00:22:42.000 --> 00:22:44.000
She called out to them and said,

00:22:44.000 --> 00:22:46.000
"This is Uzayr;

00:22:46.000 --> 00:22:48.000
he has come to you."

00:22:48.000 --> 00:22:50.000
But they did not recognize her.

00:22:50.000 --> 00:22:52.000
She said, "I am

00:22:52.000 --> 00:22:54.000
so-and-so, your maidservant.

00:22:54.000 --> 00:22:56.000
He prayed to his Lord for me,

00:22:56.000 --> 00:22:58.000
and He restored my sight.

00:22:58.000 --> 00:23:00.000
He claims that Allah

00:23:00.000 --> 00:23:02.000
caused him to die for a hundred years,

00:23:02.000 --> 00:23:04.059
then resurrected him."

00:23:04.059 --> 00:23:06.059
The people rose and went to him.

00:23:06.059 --> 00:23:08.059
His son said,

00:23:08.059 --> 00:23:10.059
"My father had a black mole

00:23:10.059 --> 00:23:12.059
between his shoulders."

00:23:12.059 --> 00:23:14.059
He uncovered his shoulders,

00:23:14.059 --> 00:23:16.160
and behold, it was Uzayr.

00:23:16.160 --> 00:23:18.160
The Children of Israel said,

00:23:18.160 --> 00:23:20.160
"There was no one

00:23:20.160 --> 00:23:22.160
among us who memorized the Torah,

00:23:22.160 --> 00:23:24.160
as we were told, except Uzayr,

00:23:24.160 --> 00:23:26.160
and it was burned."

00:23:26.160 --> 00:23:28.160
She said, "The Torah was lost,

00:23:28.160 --> 00:23:30.160
and nothing remained of it

00:23:30.160 --> 00:23:32.160
except what men had memorized.

00:23:32.160 --> 00:23:34.160
So write it for us."

00:23:34.160 --> 00:23:36.160
He sat in the shade of a tree,

00:23:36.160 --> 00:23:38.160
with the Children of Israel around him,

00:23:38.160 --> 00:23:40.160
and he wrote the Torah for them.

00:23:40.160 --> 00:23:42.160
He remained among them

00:23:42.160 --> 00:23:44.160
by the command of Allah the Exalted,

00:23:44.160 --> 00:23:46.160
and they loved him with a

00:23:46.160 --> 00:23:48.420
deep love.

00:23:48.420 --> 00:23:50.420
Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, said:

00:23:50.420 --> 00:23:52.420
"It was as

00:23:52.420 --> 00:23:54.420
Allah the Exalted said:

00:23:54.420 --> 00:23:56.420
﴾And We will make you a sign for the people﴿.

00:23:56.420 --> 00:23:58.420
This is because

00:23:58.420 --> 00:24:00.420
he would sit with

00:24:00.420 --> 00:24:02.420
his children and grandchildren,

00:24:02.420 --> 00:24:04.420
and they were old men whose heads had turned white,

00:24:04.420 --> 00:24:06.420
while he was a young man,

00:24:06.420 --> 00:24:08.420
because he died

00:24:08.420 --> 00:24:10.420
when he was forty years old,

00:24:10.420 --> 00:24:12.420
and Allah resurrected him as a young man

00:24:12.420 --> 00:24:14.420
in the same state as the day he died."

00:24:14.420 --> 00:24:17.309
The Children of Israel

00:24:17.309 --> 00:24:19.309
were confused regarding the affair of Uzayr,

00:24:19.309 --> 00:24:21.309
peace be upon him,

00:24:21.309 --> 00:24:23.309
and they said, "Musa could not

00:24:23.309 --> 00:24:25.309
bring us the Torah

00:24:25.309 --> 00:24:27.309
except in a book,

00:24:27.309 --> 00:24:29.309
whereas Uzayr

00:24:29.309 --> 00:24:31.309
memorized it and wrote it,

00:24:31.309 --> 00:24:33.309
and Allah brought him to life

00:24:33.309 --> 00:24:35.309
after He caused him to die."

00:24:35.309 --> 00:24:37.309
They considered this a

00:24:37.309 --> 00:24:39.309
miraculous matter,

00:24:39.309 --> 00:24:41.309
so they sanctified him and falsely claimed

00:24:41.309 --> 00:24:43.539
that he was the son of Allah.

00:24:43.539 --> 00:24:45.539
Allah the Exalted said:

00:24:45.539 --> 00:24:47.539
﴾And the Jews say,

00:24:47.539 --> 00:24:49.630
'Uzayr is the son of Allah'﴿.

00:24:49.630 --> 00:24:51.630
They went astray by this

00:24:51.630 --> 00:24:54.559
and disbelieved.

00:24:54.559 --> 00:24:56.559
The name of Uzayr,

00:24:56.559 --> 00:24:58.559
peace be upon him, is not mentioned explicitly in the Qur'an

00:24:58.559 --> 00:25:00.559
anywhere other than this place.

00:25:00.559 --> 00:25:02.559
The Qur'an has alluded

00:25:02.559 --> 00:25:04.559
to him, according to the majority of

00:25:04.559 --> 00:25:06.559
the exegetes, in the saying of Allah the Exalted:

00:25:06.559 --> 00:25:08.559
﴾Or [like] the one

00:25:08.559 --> 00:25:10.559
who passed by a township

00:25:10.559 --> 00:25:12.559
which was fallen

00:25:12.559 --> 00:25:14.559
into ruin.

00:25:14.559 --> 00:25:16.559
It was fallen

00:25:16.559 --> 00:25:18.559
into ruin.

00:25:18.559 --> 00:25:20.559
He said, 'How will Allah bring this to life

00:25:20.559 --> 00:25:22.559
after

00:25:22.559 --> 00:25:24.559
its death?'

00:25:24.559 --> 00:25:26.559
So Allah caused him to die

00:25:26.559 --> 00:25:28.559
for a hundred years,

00:25:28.559 --> 00:25:30.559
then He resurrected him.

00:25:30.559 --> 00:25:32.559
He said, 'How long have you remained?'

00:25:32.559 --> 00:25:34.559
He said, 'I have remained a day

00:25:34.559 --> 00:25:36.559
or part of a day.'

00:25:36.559 --> 00:25:38.559
He said, 'Rather, you have remained

00:25:38.559 --> 00:25:40.559
a hundred years.

00:25:40.559 --> 00:25:42.559
So look at your food

00:25:42.559 --> 00:25:44.559
and your drink; it has not changed with time.

00:25:44.559 --> 00:25:46.559
And look

00:25:46.559 --> 00:25:48.559
at your donkey;

00:25:48.559 --> 00:25:50.559
and We will make you

00:25:50.559 --> 00:25:52.559
a sign for the people.

00:25:52.559 --> 00:25:54.559
And look

00:25:54.559 --> 00:25:56.559
at the bones, how

00:25:56.559 --> 00:25:58.559
We raise them,

00:25:58.559 --> 00:26:00.559
then We cover them

00:26:00.559 --> 00:26:02.559
with flesh.'

00:26:02.559 --> 00:26:04.559
And when it became clear

00:26:04.559 --> 00:26:06.559
to him, he said,

00:26:06.559 --> 00:26:08.559
'I know that Allah

00:26:08.559 --> 00:26:10.559
is over all things

00:26:10.559 --> 00:26:12.559
competent.'﴿

00:26:12.559 --> 00:26:16.700
The hadith

00:26:16.700 --> 00:26:18.700
has a continuation, if Allah wills.

00:26:18.700 --> 00:26:20.700
And Allah knows best.

00:26:20.700 --> 00:26:22.700
And praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.

00:26:22.700 --> 00:26:24.700
May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon

00:26:24.700 --> 00:26:26.700
our Prophet Muhammad,

00:26:26.700 --> 00:26:28.700
and upon his family

00:26:28.700 --> 00:26:30.700
and all his companions.

00:26:30.700 --> 00:26:33.859
You have been with

00:26:33.859 --> 00:26:35.859
the Stories of the Prophets.
