Would that not be better?" 00:01:54.120 --> 00:02:00.150 I said, "Indeed, you have fulfilled your duty." So I went to her and said, 00:02:00.150 --> 00:02:06.150 "My daughter, this man has given you a choice, so do not disgrace us." 00:02:06.150 --> 00:02:12.150 She replied, "I have chosen the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him." 00:02:12.150 --> 00:02:15.150 I said, "By Allah, you have disgraced us!" 00:02:15.150 --> 00:02:21.569 Then the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, looked at the ransom and said, 00:02:21.569 --> 00:02:27.659 "Where are the two camels you hid in al-'Aqiq in such-and-such a mountain pass?" 00:02:27.659 --> 00:02:32.659 I said, "By Allah, no one knew of that except Allah." 00:02:32.659 --> 00:02:38.659 "I bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that you are the Messenger of Allah." 00:02:38.659 --> 00:02:45.530 I embraced Islam at that moment and followed the Prophet, peace be upon him. 00:02:45.530 --> 00:02:50.530 Then the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, invited me to pay the zakat. 00:02:50.530 --> 00:02:56.530 I agreed to it and said, "O Messenger of Allah, let me return to my people." 00:02:56.530 --> 00:03:00.530 "I will call them to Islam and to the payment of zakat." 00:03:00.530 --> 00:03:05.530 "Whoever responds to me, I will collect their zakat." So he gave me permission. 00:03:05.530 --> 00:03:11.530 When the time for zakat arrived, the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, sent to me 00:03:11.530 --> 00:03:16.530 al-Walid ibn 'Uqba, may Allah be pleased with him, to collect the zakat from us. 00:03:16.530 --> 00:03:20.530 We, in turn, went out to welcome him. 00:03:20.530 --> 00:03:25.530 When al-Walid drew near to us and saw us, he feared for his life. 00:03:25.530 --> 00:03:31.530 He thought we were going to kill him due to old blood feuds from the days of ignorance. 00:03:31.530 --> 00:03:35.530 He returned to the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, 00:03:35.530 --> 00:03:40.719 and informed him that we had withheld the zakat and intended to kill him. 00:03:40.719 --> 00:03:45.719 The Prophet, peace be upon him, prepared an army to fight us, 00:03:45.719 --> 00:03:48.780 and ordered them to march toward us. 00:03:48.780 --> 00:03:52.780 As for me, I said to the men of my people, 00:03:52.780 --> 00:03:57.780 "The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, would not break his promise to us," 00:03:57.780 --> 00:04:00.780 "unless he was angry with us." 00:04:00.780 --> 00:04:02.780 "So, let us go to him." 00:04:02.780 --> 00:04:06.849 When we neared Medina, we met the army. 00:04:06.849 --> 00:04:10.849 I asked them, "To whom were you sent?" 00:04:10.849 --> 00:04:12.849 They said, "To you." 00:04:12.849 --> 00:04:14.849 I asked, "And why?" 00:04:14.849 --> 00:04:18.850 They said, "The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him," 00:04:18.850 --> 00:04:21.850 "sent al-Walid ibn 'Uqba to you." 00:04:21.850 --> 00:04:25.850 "He claimed that you withheld the zakat and intended to kill him." 00:04:25.850 --> 00:04:29.850 I said, "No, by the One who sent Muhammad with the truth," 00:04:29.850 --> 00:04:32.850 "I did not see him, nor did he come to me." 00:04:32.850 --> 00:04:36.850 When I entered upon the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, 00:04:36.850 --> 00:04:37.850 he said to me, 00:04:37.850 --> 00:04:41.850 "You withheld the zakat and intended to kill my messenger?" 00:04:41.850 --> 00:04:45.850 I said, "No, by the One who sent you with the truth," 00:04:45.850 --> 00:04:48.850 "I did not see him, nor did he come to me." 00:04:48.850 --> 00:04:50.850 "And I did not come to you," 00:04:50.850 --> 00:04:53.850 "except when your messenger was delayed," 00:04:53.850 --> 00:04:57.850 "so I feared that Allah or His Messenger might be angry with me." 00:04:57.850 --> 00:05:01.850 "That is why I came, and I have the zakat of my people with me." 00:05:01.850 --> 00:05:04.910 Then Allah the Almighty revealed His saying: 00:05:04.910 --> 00:05:09.910 "O you who have believed..." 00:05:09.910 --> 00:05:26.980 “O ye who believe!
