The distortions of the esoteric sects.
They are more extreme than the Ash'aris in their application of blameworthy allegorical interpretation (ta'wil).
These esoteric sects,
interpret the texts even without any alleged rational evidence,
or even a semblance of evidence.
Rather, they do so based purely on their own whims.
Their objective in doing this,
is to escape the rulings of the Sharia and to discard its obligatory duties,
and to strip Islam of its substance and reality,
which is submission and surrender to the law of Allah.
Examples of this include,
their claim that what is meant by fasting,
is the keeping of a secret,
and that ritual impurity (janabah) is the revealing of a secret.
