Allah the Almighty says:
“O Children of Adam! We have revealed unto you raiment to conceal your shame, and splendid vesture, but the raiment of restraint from evil, that is best. This is of the revelations of Allah, that they may remember.” (7:26)

Ibn al-Qayyim, may Allah have mercy on him, said:
The Glorified and Exalted has made it obligatory upon the servant to disobey the soul that commands evil,
and to distance oneself from its desires,
so that it may attain its full and complete share of His honor and reward,
and enjoy in the hereafter the various delights of what it abandoned for the sake of Allah in this world.
He, may Allah have mercy on him, also said:
The heart falls ill just as the body falls ill,
and its cure lies in repentance and abstinence.
It becomes tarnished just as a mirror becomes tarnished,
and its polishing is through the remembrance of Allah.
It becomes naked just as the body becomes naked,
and its adornment is piety.
If a person does not wear garments of piety,
he remains naked even if he is clothed.
The best garment for a person is the obedience of his Lord,
and there is no good in one who is disobedient to Allah.
